These days the terms good and God seem synonymous. We believe what’sgenerally accepted as good must be in line with God’s will. Generosity, humility, justice—good. Selfishness, arrogance, cruelty—evil. Thedistinction seems pretty straightforward. But is that all there is to it? If good is so obvious, why does the Bible saythat we need discernment to recognize it?Good or God? isn’t another self-help message. This book will do more thanask you to change your behavior. It will empower you to engage with Godon a level that will change every aspect of your life.

John Bevere has always been one of my favorite authors because he's very straightforward and brings life-changing revelation. This book is no exception! John exposes the fact that there are things in life, even in the church and amongst believers, that can seem good but are not of God. One quote from the book that really ministered to me was this: "There is a counterfeit good that can keep you from embracing God's best." John exposes the fact that the devil can try to bring harm and destruction to our lives masked as something good. Even in some cases, there can be a difference between what is good and what is God's best. I think the next quote is a perfect summary for what the book is about: "It doesn't matter how good something looks, how happy it makes you, how much fun it is, how rich and successful you'll become, how deeply spiritual it appears, how sensible it seems, how popular or accepted it is...If something is contrary to the wisdom (or Word) of God, it will ultimately be detrimental and bring sorrow to your life." I highly recommend this book. Please do yourself a favor and read it!
