"Grettir the Outlaw" is an adaptation of the Icelandic "Saga of Grettir the Strong" by Sabine Baring-Gould, who began working on the project in his spare time, at a point when he knew nothing of the Icelandic language. Furthermore, since the only reference works on Icelandic were in Danish, he had to learn Danish first in order to learn Icelandic.
