Lily and Kieran's story was full of sexual tension. Once they finally hooked up, it was the end of the book. This short story has so much potential for more! Supper hot were's!

Lily was a guardian for the Black Mesa wolf pack. After a tragic accident 2 years before, she stopped being a guardian and distanced herself from sex, something necessary to keep her humanity and balance her strength and power. Kieran is a guardian from a neighboring pack. When he saw Lily, he knew she should be his. He patiently waited for her to be ready and now’s the time. Unfortunately, several rogues also had the same idea. I was pleasantly surprised. This was a really short story, but the author did a great job of giving a good story and doing a great job on character build-up. Enough was provided that you really felt for everything Lily had been through and witness her find herself again. I highly recommend to anyone that likes this genre. I look forward to reading more from this author. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**

He's perfect. He's the one. 5 GOLD ALPHA STARS WHOOOWEEEEE!! All this fire, humor and a WOLFTASTIC story too?!!? Forget about a cold shower, I think I need to bathe under Niagara the wintertime!!! The heat in this book is off the charts, but it is the best kind of heat! Heat that has Wolfy instincts behind it. "eyes lit with wolf fire, wolf passion." Heat with a story to back it and make it that much more powerful! I was so instantly drawn into this story, wanting to know the reasons why things are the way they are, why Lily has been denying her wolf - her very self - for so long. But I also wanted to know who the smokin' hot cowboy was! Since I live vicariously through my book friends, their life becoming mine, me bringing THEM to life for the length of the book, I oh so hoped that Lily was going to save a horse tonight! Hell for the rest of my life! I mean, her, for the rest of HER life! But more impressively is how well developed the story itself is. It is enriched and given depth by having a past that Lily hasn't yet dealt with, nor accepted; there are multiple packs, a Pack Council, rules, laws, Pack life & way of life. J.K. has included all of my favorite shifter features in here too! The wolf has her/his own personality, the increased senses in human form, how closely the halves truly are, just to name a few, but the features that I loved the most are the exact same ones I can't share with you! You will have to read this story to discover them all for yourself. Speaking of which, I LOVE how J.K. took the wolf shifter persona and made it all her own!! J.K. made falling into this world so easy with her mightily impressive magical writing skills! I was actually surprised at the intensity and range of emotions that I felt with this story! So very many funny lines, quotable lines and just all around FURRIFIC story! Leaving was the hardest part! (Thankfully I have the next book all ready to read.) Typically I want full length novels, however I am not sure if I could have survived more to Lily & Kieran's story! It is THAT WOLFTACULAR!!!! This may be my first J.K. Harper book, and it may always be my favorite (you never forget your first, right?) but I promise you it will NOT be the last!

Guardian Wolf (Black Mesa Wolves, #1) by J.K. Harper Lily is a Black Mesa Guardian Wolf and the Alpha's daughter. While seeing a human, she lost control and bit him, changed him. That is one of their strictest laws, no changing a human to wolf. The punishment is death for the human and it is carried out by the wolf that bit them. It is a hard lesson for a wolf to learn. The memory of taking a life is harsh. Lily falls into her self and hides away, neglecting her duties as a Guardian. Two years have passed and it is time for her to come back to her self. Time to step-up and take control again. Kieran Rendall is a visiting Guardian wolf from the Silver Mountain Pack. He was sent by his alpha to witness what Lily had to do to the human she turned. From that moment Kieran had been watching her, wanting her. Now is his chance. She is finally ready and he plans to claim her. Then the rogues show up. *ARC given for an honest review*

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal) on Goodreads. It's a great opener for the series though I found it a little bit hanging. I'm into the characters and I'm expecting more of their love story in this book. But this is a well explained book. The characters were very straightforward, you can really see the author's passion in writing this book. So for paranormal-romance lovers who loves to read short stories with a little twist, I recommend you this book.

Lily Bardou is the Pack Guardian for her Wolf Pack or at least she was up until two years ago. When she made a big error and broke Pack Law. Now it's two years later and he best friend, Sara, is pushing her to get back into the game and also take her place back up as Pack Guardian. Lily not sure that she is ready for all of this yet. Plus she has a slight problem, she hasn't been with anyone since her big mistake. So before she can tae her place again she must first release some stress and let her wolf out to play. Now that she has sort of agreed to this, she spots Kieran Rendall at the bar and sparks start to fly. But will Lily get cold paws and turn tail and run? Kieran Rendall, also a Pack Guardian from another Pack, has his sights set on Lily and has since he first saw her two years ago. He is done waiting and now he wants to claim her. But the hard part is getting her to accept everything including him. But will that too hard or will the rogues ruin Kieran's plans for Lily? This is my first time reading anything by this author and I loved it. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I could not put this book down I highly recommend this book to others.

I received this book for an honest review. LOP Kieran has been sent to observe the Black Mesa Wolf Pack, after Lily broke pack rules. Now he is there to make her his mate and he doesn't take no for an answer, they belong together. Lily has been hiding these past few years from a terrible, haunting mistake she made. Then she met Kieran. Weirdly enough they came across rouge wolfs, who desperately want a pack of their own and believe because of her father they have a right to one. Will we ever know why? Desperate people go to desperate measures. Told from both Lily's and Kieran's point of view, this story is too good to put down. I finished it in about an hour and a half. Short but sweet, it will keep readers wishing for more. The only hamartia of the story is that you don't find out what happens. You have to wait and read book 2 to close some open story lines.

This is a great start to the series. It is short and sweet. You get to know the main characters of the Black Mesa Pack. Lily is the oldest of the Alpha's children and the only girl. She had a hardship in the past and she let her self sit is sorrow. Kieran is ready to show her that she does not need to sit on the sidelines any longer. He plans to help her see she can still be a great Guardian. I love shifter books and J.K. Harper does not disappoint.  I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!! - A great new series!!! I picked this book up free early in the month, and guess what it is still free so you can too!!!  YAY!!! The cover is stunning and gorgeous :)  I loved it, and it definitely grabbed my attention. This is a novella only about 40 pages and for adults since there is a steamy scene.  I really enjoyed this story, and I think it is going to be a wonderful series.  Lily is strong and knows what she wants when she makes up her mind.  She has a past that we learn a little about.  Her friend Sally is feisty, and I like her too.  Kieran is the sexy cowboy in this story who is from another pack, but he had his eye on Lily for a while. I think there is going to be a lot more to the pack with book 2 since is longer :)  I’m hoping for more action because it is set up nicely. I recommend this to any of my fellow shifter lovers because it is well worth the read and a bonus since it is free!!!

If you like stories about Wolves, then you will like "Guardian Wolf" the first book in the series (Black Mesa Wolves #1). I am very anxious to get the second book as well as the whole series. Some Wolf stories are not very good but you should try it out and see if you might like to read more from this Author, J. K. Harper.

This story had all of the essential elements of a well-told tale, but it was so short. I cannot fault it for that as it was very well written; I just wish it had been a bit longer because I would have liked to follow these characters a bit more. I'll be looking for more from J.K. Harper. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
