A one-night stand could affect his job. Seth was caught off guard when faced with "Blue eyes" who turns out to be his next assignment. Rick had not forgotten that night either nor their shared past. As they work together, learning personal things about each other, danger kept coming at them. Watching these two men decide how important they were to each other made this a page-turner for me. The relationship with its ups and downs had a real feel to it. I have enjoyed this series, and this book continued that enjoyment. I look forward to more. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Wow, this was a great book. Hot and steamy! I've read all of the books in this series and loved them but you don't need to have read the others to enjoy this one. All of the books stand alone and can be read in any order. Until I began reading this series I hadn't read any M/M stories that were so suspenseful or thrilling. Guarding Mr. Fine starts off with the sexy stuff pretty quickly but doesn’t lack suspense or thrills later. Seth Lang is on his way to an assignment to "babysit" a diplomat; something that he certainly isn't looking forward to. He has a hot, fast hook up with a guy in a bar and you can probably guess who that turns out to be. Rick Fine knows how stupid he is to ditch his protection and hook up with a stranger but he just couldn't resist the fine specimen that had both male and female heads turning. This book had my heart pounding more than just a few times and as much for the sexy time as it did for the thrilling suspense. When Seth discovers his assignment it to guard the man he hooked up with a few days before they officially meet he just manages to keep his "cool" face in place; Rick does a much better job of hiding his reaction. This story is full of suspense, intrigue and enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the bad guy is revealed. And oh, Rick Fine has a secret of his own that might just destroy the best thing that ever happened to him. I hope there will be more books in this series as I am nowhere near ready for it to end. A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

With a perfect blend of sex and suspense, HelenKay Dimon's third novel in her Tough Love series takes us to Munich, Germany and the suspicious death of the American consul general. Tasked with investigating the supposed suicide and a mystery surrounding discrepancies in medical aid shipments, CIA agent Rick Fine is ready to play the part of an innocuous bureaucrat while looking for answers. What he doesn't expect is that the sexy stranger with whom he had a one night stand on route to his assignment turns out to be the special ops agent assigned to be his bodyguard. Seth Lang is determined to do his job and protect Rick with his life – and if it means he has to be close to him to do it, so be it. Unable to resist the chemistry between them, they quickly become physically involved. But someone is determined to keep Rick from finding out the truth. With the clock ticking, will Rick and Seth survive long enough to admit their true feelings for each other? Be prepared to drop all other things in favor of reading this book from start to finish in one fell swoop! Starting from their first steamy encounter, I was totally hooked on this story. When Rick arrives at the consulate and encounters Seth again, to their credit they don't circle around each other long before admitting that they want to dive into a sexual relationship. While the sex scenes are hot, equally compelling is the emotional connection that they develop. They both have had tragedies in their families, making them prime targets for recruitment as government agents and making opening up to someone else a challenge. The fact that they can trust each other with their secrets puts them on the path to a real relationship. As Seth and Rick are getting closer the action around them heats up. The staff who interact with Rick at the consulate all seem to have their secrets. The author skillfully keeps the readers (and Rick and Seth) on their toes with one action scene after another, and no obvious culprit. I loved how the plot unfolded at a fast pace all leading towards a dramatic conclusion. There are some interesting secondary characters, in particular Seth's special ops teammate Nathan and Rick's friend and asset Alec who add some lighthearted bromance type moments to the story. If you want action, suspense and steamy sex combined with an emotional romance, I highly recommend this story.

Guarding Mr. Fine,  HelenKay Dimon Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:   Romance, LGBTQIA  I didn’t realise I’d read one of Helen’s books back in 2014...not surprising as she’s a prolific author. This sounded a fun read so I waded in, and got hooked into Seth and Rick’s romance. I love that they’ve-hooked-up-but-now-its-awkward scenario. Rick and Seth had a quick, steamy interlude in a club back room and that's it. Or so they think, so imagine the shock when next day Seth finds out Rick is the person he’s bodyguard for. Rick knows who Seth is via the paperwork, and has his own issues about that, but has no idea what he looks like until he walked in the door!  Well, that visceral attraction that had them hot and sensual in the back room is still there. Rick's had relationships before but Seth? Not really. He’s just broken up with the closest he came to one with his ex, Elizabeth. She felt he wasn’t there enough, and when he was, he wasn’t “there” with her anyway. They can’t keep hands – and other body parts – to themselves though, and what was a one off becomes more and more, until Seth can’t bear the thought of anything happening to Rick. There’s a lot of danger surrounding this post though, Rick isn’t really the new Consul, but an agent looking into the supposed suicide of the old one. He and Seth uncover a dangerous plot that could get them killed, and they come very close to it more than once. The suspense part and action of the story worked well for me. I don’t want it too in-depth that I get lost but do need it to feel real. There’s lots of action here, lots of on-going drama, and some cracking snarky lines that made me smile. I liked Seth and Rick, they worked well together as colleagues and as lovers. Could they continue after this post was done though? Would Seth even want to or would he do his usual fast exit? As well as the romance there was a decent storyline – and I’m all about that, a proper balance of sex v story, and here it worked well. The characters were well thought out, very real feeling though I’d got an inkling of who was the bad guy early on. Makes a change for me to get it right ;-) I loved Nathan too, love the banter he and Seth had, being comrades from other dangerous jobs had led them into a special trust, only found when you rely on the other when you’re risking your lives. I did enjoy the “why do straight guys always think we’ll hit on them” talk – I was having that chat just recently with son number two. Its something that always puzzles me, straight guys don’t fancy every woman that crosses their path so why do so many of them assume a gay guy will fancy them? Stars: Four, a fun read, with a good balance of sex and story. ARC supplied for review purposes by Netgalley and Publishers

This is my first book by HelenKay Dimon and I must say I am quite impressed. The plot is spectacular, full of intrigue, mystery, and espionage, and the characters are complex, well developed and real. They really draw you right into the story and you just can't help but become invested in their lives. This book hooked me from the start and kept me riveted to the very last page. The pace is steady and never boring. Overall, I found the book to be provocative and gripping and romantic and absorbing and sexy and completely compelling. If you love romantic thrillers, this is the book for you! *I was given an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

I received Guarding Mr. Fine as a review copy from the author/publisher (through Net Galley). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. I've enjoyed other books by this author (Mr & Mr Smith, and Talented Mr Ripley), but Guarding Mr. Fine is my favorite so far. Excellent, well-matched protagonists, snappy, witty dialogue, layered and intelligent plot... this story has it all. A recommended read.

Guarding Mr. Fine is the third book in HelenKay Dimon's Tough Love series, and I have to say that I've loved all three books. What's not to love about tough alpha guys?! lol! I would probably consider this book a standalone, but I think it would be more enjoyable to read from the beginning of the series. I wouldn't read the second book without reading the first one though, I feel like those two should be read in order so you understand more of what's going on. This book has a completely different plot then the others. Seth is part of a military group that deals with terrorists, but is now assigned as a bodyguard to the U.S. consul general in Munich. Before starting his new post he heads out to a bar to find someone to "blow off some steam with" and hooks up with a sexy man with blue eyes. They don't exchange names, so both of them are surprised when Seth shows up to find the U.S. consul general is none other than his hot hookup from the bar, Rick. Both these men come from difficult childhoods. Seth's has left him with the need to always be moving and not have any attachments. Rick is a special agent who has primarily worked behind the scenes gathering intel, while Seth is the type that is always in the middle of the dangerous scenes. Rick is keeping a big secret from Seth, that he is afraid to reveal without spoiling things between them These two has amazing chemistry and their were plenty of smoking hot scenes. I love steamy scenes, but I really like when they don't completely overwhelm the plot and I feel like HelenKay Dimon achieved that well. The plot kept moving and it didn't feel like there were any big lulls. The storyline introduced quite a few suspects so you were always guessing, who it was going to be. I really enjoyed their sarcastic banter back and forth and the power struggles. They had me giggling a couple times. The only thing I would say that seemed strange was the boss' matchmaking. Why? It just seemed a bit weird to me. ** I received an ARC of this title via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. **

4.5 stars- Rapid fire storyline with great characters Guarding Mr. Fine is a law-enforcement romance that offers a good dose of action and intrigue throughout the storyline. This is the third book in the Tough Love series but can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this one a little more than the others in the series because I immediately liked Seth and Rick. Both men have big personalities while being personable and added a lot of energy to the story. Though they work within the same government security branch, Seth and Rick are very different. Their contrasting personalities kept things interesting and added internal conflicts. Those interactions gave the reader insight into the individuals, their work relationships, and how they functioned as a couple. Besides the characters, the dialogue really stood out to me. It made the story and relationship come alive. Better yet, the banter between characters was fun and witty, adding more depth to their personalities. The writing throughout the book was smooth with enough details to get a good grasp of the scene and action sequences. The pace stayed relatively fast, fitting with the urgency of uncovering the criminal ring operating within the consulate. I did wish there had been a bit more suspense throughout the book. Much like the others in the series, things are laid out clearly and there are no significant surprises with the relationship or criminal activity. However, the conflicts were clear and the resolutions believable and thorough. The romance itself was fast-burning. Initiating from a hook-up, there is a lot of lust up front. For a good portion of the book I missed seeing the characters connect outside of the physical attraction and respect for the other’s proficiency at their job. I was relieved when things are hashed out between the characters toward the end. Rick forces a conversation about their future, and both men explore their feelings for one another, subsequently clueing the reader into the depth of their attraction. For fans of law enforcement romances, this series is a good choice. It’s fast-paced but believable and detailed enough to envision the scenes. While I wished there was suspense and chemistry from the outset, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. This author’s characters reliably balance strong personalities with intelligence and passion, and I will certainly read more from her in the future. *ARC received from Netgalley, reviewed for Alpha Book Club*

GUARDING MR. FINE is the third installment in HelenKay Dimon’s contemporary, adult TOUGH LOVE(formerly End of the Line) erotic, M/M romantic suspense series. This is CIA and special activities division agent Seth Lang, and temporary U.S. consul general to Munich, Germany Rick Fine’s story line. GUARDING MR. FINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. The reader was first introduced to Seth in book two-The Talented Mr. Rivers. NOTE: GUARDING MR. FINE contains scenes of M/M sexual situations and mature subject matter. Told from dual third person points of view (Seth and Rick) GUARDING MR. FINE focuses on uncovering an arms shipment ring with connections to the US Consulate in Munich, Germany. Former consul general Ed Wright’s death was labeled a suicide but for all intents and purposes not everyone believes Ed’s death was a suicide-at all. CIA Special Agent Seth Lang is one of those who suspects Ed’s death is part of something much larger including an illegal arms ring that leads back to the people with whom he works. Enter Rick Fine, temporary US consul general, and the man with whom Seth will fall in love. What ensues is the search for the people behind the arms deals, and the building relationship between Seth and Rick as our couple must stay one step ahead of the threats against Rick Fine. GUARDING MR. FINE looks at international espionage, illegal arms deals, secrets, betrayals, lies and power. Someone with access to the consul general is using the position of power in an unlawful manner. Seth has been hired to protect Rick Fine but Rick’s is also working to uncover the truth and the people involved. The relationship between Rick and Seth begins as an anonymous hook up before our couple have been introduced on a professional basis. Seth’s immediate attraction to Rick finds our hero breaking all of his rules to protect the man with whom he is falling in love. Rick is determined to protect Seth knowing he is willing to risk his life to do his job but Rick has a secret, one that if revealed, may destroy his relationship with Seth Lang. The $ex scenes are intimate, graphic, intense and erotic. We are introduced to Owen Rankin, a civilian and the head of security at the consulate; Tim Craine-a spoiled consular language employee who uses his family connections for career appointments; Ben Rogers, the consulate’s public affairs officer; Alec Drummond, another civilian security specialist with high ranking government contacts; and the women in charge of the CIA’s Special Activities Division Helena Bond. GUARDING MR. FINE is a story with a bit of an inst-love trope that finds two men struggling with their attraction to one another, and the over-protective alpha-ness of being in charge. The premise is entertaining and spicy; the characters are sexy and colorful; the romance is intoxicating and intense. GUARDING MR. FINE is an intimate story of passion and intrigue.

Seth Lang is not happy with his latest assignment: a cushy desk job babysitting the new US consul general in Munich. His CIA bosses see it as a reward, Seth more as a punishment. He is bored stiff, he still has three days in Berlin, so he goes to a club for a drink. Seth is bisexual, he ended a relationship with a woman several months before, and in the club he notices a handsome man watching him. Seth goes right up to him, they click, and they have sex in a closet. It’s a good thing that Seth is a consummate operative, because the temporary replacement for the consul general is none other than his one-nighter: Rick Fine, who is also CIA… I had really liked the first two books in the Tough Love series, but I had found them lacking on the heat side, and it’s certainly not the case with GUARDING MR. FINE! They do say third time’s a charm, and this book is terrific! I was eagerly anticipating Seth’s story, he’s a fabulous character, and I am thrilled with how it turned out. GUARDING MR. FINE literally starts off with a, er, bang, and it keeps on hitting from all sides. Rick and Seth have to work together in order to find out what really happened to the late consul, and I absolutely loved that the issues they face has nothing to do with the fact that they had sex; they don’t have the same approach to missions, Seth is as hot-tempered as Rick remains cool as a cucumber, and the professional tension between them is nearly lethal. The story, while building on what happened in the previous books, is really independent, although some other characters reappear, among others Helena Bond, an African-American woman in a powerful position; I love that Seth is part Chinese, and there is not one stereotype in sight, for whatever reason. Rick and Seth both rather strong and difficult personalities, they clash often, and again I felt every word. I could go on for ages on how fascinating, complex, and genuine both Rick and Seth are; what an amazing couple, and what chemistry! I had had some difficulties with the sex scenes in the previous books; I thought the characters appeared detached, but GUARDING MR. FINE is scorching hot! GUARDING MR. FINE is fast-paced, well written, terribly exciting, and sizzling hot. It is as riveting to experience the romance develop as it is to watch the suspense unfold. GUARDING MR. FINE is excellent times ten! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book

Loved, loved, loved!! This is a super sexy M/M romance that once I started reading I couldn't put down. It's filled with action, suspense, and some seriously sexy moments between Seth and Rick. Rick is in Germany to look into the sudden death of the previous Consulate, Seth is there to protect Rick. An assignment he's not originally too thrilled with but once he sees who exactly he's babysitting Seth is all in! Both these characters are swoon-worthy and the excitement of the story makes this a book you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it.

CIA Special Agent Seth Lang is not happy to be reassigned to "guard" the new consul general in Munich--especially when the man he meets turns out to be the one he picked up anonymously the weekend before the job was to begin. Still, Rick Fine suits his name, and Seth's more frustrated than ever. Rick Fine isn't just a consul--he's deep cover CIA tactics, and sure his predecessor was doing some shady, shady things that led to his fatal "accident." How to prove it as a stranger in a new place? Make use of all his tactical training--and keep Seth handy. Even if he's guilty for hiding a secret about Seth's past mission. It's not long before Rick turns up discrepancies in budgets and humanitarian aid drops seemed inexplicably filled with weapons instead of medicine. But, those powerful people who made the former consul go away are certainly not interested in keeping snoopy Rick Fine alive. Nope, that's Seth's problem. This books takes place over several seriously action-packed days. Seth discovers weaknesses in the security, and Rick uses his deep cover contacts to flush out the perpetrators who're using the consul's office to traffic arms. Thing is, people keep turning up dead, and Seth and Rick might soon be one of them. Expect steamy sexytimes, shoot-outs, and a raging inferno of more than lust. Each book in the series keeps me on my toes, and wanting the next book!

I have a song that keeps popping in my head whenever I think about the newest addition to the Tough Love series. "Oh Mickey You're so fine You're so fine You blow my mind Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!" Unfortunately Mr. Fine is not named Mickey but he is fine! And so is Mr. Wonderful, Seth Lang. OMG I have a serious crush on these two guys. Not only are they completely HOT, but this story brings in so many of the arenas I love to read about; Special ops, some suspense and thrills, and seriously hot sex. Seth is a god... OMG I unabashedly fell for him. YUMMM I love the sexy banter between the two. Dry wit and sarcastic too! Love it! The two men balance each other well and you can feel the heat coming off the pages in waves. The protective nature of Seth is endearing and you know these two are perfect for each other. That is, if they can make it through some pretty big secrets. HelenKay Dimon is a true craftsmen of the written word and knows how to create characters and situations that are true to life, realistic, and all encompassing. Plus, she gives us a freaking hot read loaded with suspense and thrills that are captivating. This is a book you never want to end. Sigh... Now bring on the next in the series and fast! I do not want to wait for more. BTW. This is a complete standalone! * A copy was received for review purposes
