Loved it

I loved this book from start to finish! John is a wonderful hero. Michelle is a victim but yet a very strong and determined woman. They're a great match for one another. I loved the depth of characterization that the author brings to the page with these two. I enjoyed the story and it was time well spent.

I generally like most books by Linda Howard and this one was a good one. I liked both of the characters and the story took place on a ranch (which I tend to associate well with). All in all, good heartwarming easy read.

This was a wonderful book! I would love to have a man like John Rafferty take care of me. It was a very romantic book. They both loved each other for years but were afraid to do anything about it. This was definitely one of Linda Howard best.

I loved this book. I love the fact that the main characters hate eachother in the beginning but eventually fall in love. it's so unrealistic but the way the story is told you want to believe it can happen to you.

Be aware that this book is a re-print but if you have never read it...you're in for a treat. If you like Linda Howard this book is a must. Basically: Strong hero with a strong herione and a crazed/stalker ex-husband. They've secretly loved (lusted?) each other for years but never realized until she's in need/danger.

All of Ms. Howard's books are great. This one was no exception. Simply put, the male lead in the story knew who he loved and went after her. He protects her throughout the story and her heart melts. It was terrific.

Great read from beginning to end. Michelle is an only child and both parents spoiled her continuously. When she is a teenager she sees the man she wants to marry; but, he being eight years older knows she is too young. Consequently, she marries someone else always knowing her heart belongs to this cowboy. The marriage is good for a while - he is rich and dotes on her; but, he begins to show signs of outrageous jealousy ending in domestic abuse. Because he and his family are rich his parents manage to have all the evidence disappear until one time when his parents are in Europe and can't help he is so violent she is able to obtain proof. The parents agree he is not to bother her and finally grant a divorce. Now divorced she escapes with the proof and returns to her deceased father's ranch. However, going through his papers she discovers he had signed an on demand note with the cowboy she has always wanted. The problem they never got along - always snipping and arguing with each other . The ex-husband tracks her down and tries to kill her but no one believes her.

This is definitely one of the books that Ms. Howard needs to expand .These two main characters will make a great second book. There story is far from being over!!

I'm usually a avid Linda Howard fan and love her stories. This was a good book, however, I don't think its anywhere as entertaining as her other works. I would recommend this book but I would also tell you to try her other ones first!!

Howard has done it again. This book is definitely one of her best. The woman is truly a unique writer who is able to draw you into the story as if you were standing on the sidelines observing instead of reading about it. The characters sparkle and set plenty of sparks off one another. Great book!!! I'd give this book 6 stars if I could!

If you'd like to see how Linda Howard has developed as a writer, read this re-release of a 1987 novel. Her best characters are complex, with flashes of warmth and humor...all of which are sadly missing from this early book. Though the quality can't all be attributed to the early date--Mackenzie's Mountain and Duncan's Bride (one of my personal favorites) were written within a year or two of this. Perhaps her new one, due out in August, will have the depth and richness we've come to enjoy so much.

Where true romantic suspense stories are concerned, Linda Howard is one of the greatest authors out there. This one is another must-read of hers. I absolutely love it.
