I have read numerous books on heartburn, reflux, and IBS. I find some of them really interesting but when I try the suggested paths, it kind of works but then, it doesn't. After reading Heartburn & Reflux for Dummies, I realize it was because I did not have the complete picture of options and concerns with the other books. One book was close, but still not complete. Each of the other books had various philosophies, theories and approaches and I didn't know how to chose. The best way to describe this dilemma would be with a similar choice I just made for a New Barbeque Grill on the 4th of July. There were all these wonderful books with great pictures of grilled food and their recipes. But I'm brand new at grilling and I had stacks of books at the table but could not choose. I went back to the shelves and found "Grilling for Dummies". Thank you. The nuts and bolts of HOW to grill are necessary before you decide WHAT to grill. In Heartburn and Reflux for Dummies, I know what my steps are, which steps are musts, what the impacts of my choices are or can be, and how to make sure I can decide, with a greater feeling of safety, what path I would like to try next. I have already made some of those choices and I AM GETTING RESULTS. With doctor trips made, symptoms under control, I can now attend to the paths, diets and food choices. Thank you once more for the Nuts and Bolts!

After trying to figure out what was giving me heratburn, I came across this book and decided to give it a try. What a surprise -- not only did it tell me what foods might gie me heratburn, it also told me how to avoid the problem and gave me a whol list of quesitons to adk me doctor. I recommend this for anyone with heratburn.

Like all the dummies book, this one hands some serious information plus a couple of yucks. Like, it explained why some of the foods I love make my stomach ache but told me how to calm things down without giving up the good stuff -- and suggested talking with my doc, naturally). Altogether, one good buy.
