Becca Trevor's life is falling apart. She's lost her job, her boyfriend's in jail, and her mother's quilt shop has just caught fire — with her in it.

To make matters worse, town golden boy Jack Wolfe has returned — looking better than ever ... but can their budding relationship survive the secret Becca's been keeping for years?

"Julia Gabriel does an amazing job with this devastatingly heartbreaking love story." — RT Book Reviews, Top Pick

Becca never intended to come back to pretty little St. Caroline, Maryland and her family's quilt shop. Growing up, she was the wild child ... and the black sheep of the family ... and the girl who couldn't get anything right.

And she definitely never intended to see Jack Wolfe again. Those fifteen minutes she'd spent with him at a graduation party seven years ago? Unforgettable—for a whole lot of reasons.

Jack was the golden boy of St. Caroline. Smart, Ivy League-educated, law school-bound. He's home from California for a family emergency, a situation that would not be improved by the news that he's not the hotshot corporate attorney everyone thinks he is. If he can keep his real job a secret until the end of summer, he'll still be golden and no one else will be the wiser.

But Becca has an even bigger secret of her own ... one that will change Jack's life forever ...

The St. Caroline Series

Come to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the 300-year-old town of St. Caroline, Maryland. Meet the Trevor family—Michelle, Dan, Becca, Charlotte, Natalie, Cassidy and Lauren—and their popular quilt shop, Quilt Therapy. Across town, the men of the Wolfe family have been the backbone of the St. Caroline fire department for generations—and Tim, Jack, Matt and Oliver are continuing the tradition.

The St. Caroline Series features emotional stories with relatable characters you'll fall in love with, true-to-life problems and triumphs, and sweetly sexy romance that leads to a happy ever after.

OMG!! I found a favorite "new" author! I adored Hearts on Fire & I read this book way way past my bedtime. I downloaded the first book in the series before I even finished Hearts on Fire. Hearts on Fire is the second book in the St. Caroline series but can be read as a stand alone. The author creates a town that I am ready to move to tomorrow. The characters were written with such warmth & depth that the reader feels like you know them. I am so ready for the third book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Touching This is a beautiful story about two young people who come home for different reasons and touch base with each other. A one night stand made her leave and he went off to college. His mom is dying so he is back, she came back because she needed family.

Loved this story of Jack and Becca. Wasn't able to put it down. How they left their hometown after graduating from high school . How their one time together leaves Becca pregnant and she does tell him or her parents; she put the baby up for adoption (an open adoption). Jack also leaves their hometown to attend college and law school (but drops out without telling his parents). They reconnect when they both return home. The baby girl Becca had the mother gets cancer and ask her to consider adopting her, she agrees to bring the child who's now seven for a visit. Jack and Becca have started a relationship and she have to tell him and her parents about the little girl (who Becca named Jacqueline Michelle after her mother and Jack). It's hard for Becca to tell them about the child. A very good storyline from beginning to end.

4.5 Stars!! After hearing great things about this author, but not having read before, I didn't know what to expect. What I got was a captivating story that was well-written, developed, and unique in plot. There was not one characters in this story that I didn't like unless it was the author's intention. I absolutely loved the main characters and their regretful backstory to fortuitous future. My only quibble is the quick wrap-up of an ending. Yet, I appreciated and enjoyed the sweet epilogue. I look forward to many new reading experiences with Julia Gabriel and I definitely recommend! (This is my voluntary and unbiased review of a complimentary copy of Hearts on Fire.)

An imperfect love and life’s story, just as life is. Jack and Becca made a terrible mistake seven years ago, she left St Caroline then and now she is back with no future ahead. Jack is back in town to say good aye to her mother who is dying from cancer. Jakeand Becca are both struggling with their future and start seeing each other but Becca has a secret that can bring them together or tear their apart. An emotional story about, love, loses and second chances in life. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.

If ever there was a love song that needed to be written, it would be the ballad of Jack and Becca. Hearts on Fire is that tale without the melody. Ms. Gabriel paints a picture of heartbreak and regret that will have readers reaching for the Kleenex. Becca tends to lead with her heart. She gives her all to those she loves, even if that means breaking herself in the process. Jack is the man who wants to be happy but keeps getting let down by the choices he makes and the obligations he faces. Descriptive dialogue guides this coming of age story of past mistakes and new beginnings.
