Heroes are not born. They rise out of love and duty.
But what if you have to choose?

Eirik wants nothing more than to show Celestia-the Witch who pulled him out of the darkness-that his feelings for her are real, but his parents expect him to avenge a wrong done to his family. To make matters worse, Celestia is moving on and is already dating another guy. Then Eirik discovers she is the key to accomplishing his goals. Caught between love and duty, Eirik will do whatever it takes, including getting up close and personal with Celestia, to get his way.

Celestia is convinced she is drawn to Eirik because of the bond created by the dragon's kiss, so she pushes him away. But when he comes to her for help, she is once again thrust into his world, where things are never what they seem.

From Earth to the realms of the gods, betrayal follows them and help comes from unexpected sources. But when the time comes for Eirik to choose, will he fulfill his duty or follow his heart? Everything rests on his shoulders as the wrong choice may lead to Celestia's worst fear-the rise of the Harbinger of Death.

Great book. Ednah is so talented. One of the best YA books I've ever read. Hero's is from Eirik's POV. I really fell in love with Eirik and Celestia in this book. In this book we got to experience a whole new Eirik. He finds his true form and falls in love with a powerful witch named Celestia. I love Dragons! I think I also got to meet a different Echo here too and I loved it. Oh and Hel, Wow. Never thought I'd learn to appreciate her at all but that's not the case. I can't wait till God's comes out!

This is book 2 of Eirik's story line. It runs along the same time as Witches. I enjoyed reading how things were happening on that storyline that you didn't know was happening in Witches. The relationship between Eirik and Celestia had me like....omg just kiss already lol. In this book you get to see another side of Hel. I didn't think I was ever gonna like her character. Oh and when his sister is finally found. But I'm hoping that it's not really his sister. I know I'm forgetting other parts but really this was a great book and I can't wait for the 3rd book in Eirik's story.

I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to write for my review of Heroes because, honestly, what more is there to say? Ednah Walters knocks it out of the park yet again in Heroes, the second companion novel to her amazing Runes series, affectionately subtitled "Eirik Book 2." Heroes is a richly written story written with heart and warmth. The book begins where Demons ended and is a thrill ride of laughs, twists, and turns. More secrets are uncovered, more kicka$$ characters are introduced, and more of the pieces of the puzzle are put into place. The best part of Heroes, though, is the continued growth of our main characters Eirik and Celestia, as well as the growth of Eirik's relationship with his mother Hel. We are able to see a softer side of Hel in this book, and we see the anguish she conceals over a loss suffered years earlier. We see her attempting to become a kinder, more accepting mother, and we really see the love that Hel and Eirik feel for one another; in fact, their scenes together were my favorites in the book. Ednah was able to both convey and evoke emotions that you wouldn't expect when reading a story featuring the goddess of the underworld. The writing is vivid and fluid. Ednah is in a class of her own when it comes to world-building. There are plenty of snort-out-loud scenes and, as mentioned above, scenes the elicited a few tears. I can't wait to see more of our new characters in Gods, the final book in Eirik's trilogy. In fact, the only thing I didn't like about Heroes was the ending—because it meant the book was over! I'm so excited for Gods and can't wait to see where the characters go from here.

This Book you guys! So much happened! In Demons, Eirik got an introduction into his mother's heritage, in Heroes, we see him adapting to it and living an actual life in Helheim. I love the interaction between him and his parents and how they are becoming a unique family. Seeing this new maternal side of Hel and her pride for Eirik is one of my favorite parts of this book. Celestia Adapting to her new knowledge and understanding of the world is amazing. Her discovering things about people she thought she knew and learning more about her own mother makes you care about her even more than in Demons! Eirik and Celestia's growing relationship is equally Dragon Fire hot and Witch magically adorable. I absolutely love their banter! I can't wait to see what is in store for them next. There is so much action in this book, finding a stopping point while reading it is nearly impossible. It is so exciting, fun and frankly addicting. I simply can not wait for Gods!

Eirik Baldurson's story continues to captivate and enthrall in book 2 (even--dare I say it--more so than book 1). Ednah Walters has woven a fast-paced, intense, emotion-grabbing and action-packed tale spiked with twists and connections that I never could have imagined let alone anticipated. The plot-line here ties in with Seeress (Runes book 4) impressively--and thus I suggest reading that one first--and answers some of the remaining questions I had from that book, though it did seem to be explained fairly quickly and mostly in the epilogue. The relationship between Celestia--the proud, stubborn witch with dimples--and Eirik --cocky but caring son of god of light Baldur and goddes Hel--has a lot of ups and downs that tugged at emotions as nerve-wracking trouble with the Witches in Midgard complicate Eirik's search for his family and Celestia's attempts to stay away from him, his family, anything to remind her of her time in Hel. Not only do these two characters and their pasts become so much more developed in this book, but I really enjoyed getting to know the myriad of side characters (like Goddess Hel's maiden the bossy jotun Trudy, Celestia's best witch friend Hayden, even more about our favorite grimnirs Echo and Rhys). I absolutely loved getting sucked into the romance, action, witty banter between characters, travelling the realms, and (being a mythology nerd) all the fascinating Norse nuances. This is a bit longer of a book and much of the drama is resolved, thank the gods, yet the shocking final climax and tense cliffhanger left me wanting so much more! I am still reeling from seeing "The End" right when the mystery piqued leaving me concerned, confused, and so curious! Serious book hangover. I can't wait for Gods (book 3) to see what I'm sure will be a creative and heart-pounding resolution to Eirik's story. This is a FANTASTIC read, I highly, highly recommend, even for non-Norse-myth-lovers. Ednah Walters has yet again proven she's a goddess of YA paranormal writing.

I Love all books from this series so far and this one is not going to disappoint you either! I'm in love with Norse Mythology and Supernaturals and this book contains both! World's Author creates captures your attention through the whole story. There is love and laughter, hatred and revenge, friendships and loyalty and this unbelievable tension which makes it impossible to stop reading. All the phenomenal fights descriptions and tough and snarky female warriors add a bit of a spice to the book.

Heroes book 2 in Eirik and Celestias trilogy, part of the Runes series by Ednah Walters. What an awesome read this is. Journey with Eirik and Celestia as the traverse several realms in the search of his sister that was taken right after her birth many years ago. Eirik a Norse God and Celestia a human witch, they fall in love, but how can an immortal and mortal make their relationship work. can they overcome these obstacles and others that pose a threat to their relationship, read the book and find out! One of my favorite characters in this book is the Goddess Hel, she is such a complex character with many layers to her. Ednah Walters took what should be a hated character, (well she is the Goddess of Hel) and made her into someone that you can't help but fall in love with. Oooh have I mentioned that Eirik is also a shapeshifter, that's right he's a DRAGON, yes I said it, a big loveable dragon! this book is amazing a must read in my opinion!

In this 2nd book of Eirik, we continue to follow the escapades of our Norse god and Celestia the witch from Louisiana. Eirik spars with his mother’s best warriors and looks for his Granny. This issue is filled with twists and turns and the conclusion is jaw dropping. It is definitely worth the read. I would recommend it for YA Adult Paranormal Romance lovers.

wow!!!!! A must read!!!! Once I started it I couldn't put it down!!! I was immediately pulled back into the magical world of Gods, witches, valkyries, dragons and grimnirs. This is the 2nd book in Eiriks story, we join our God/dragon shifter hottie, as he continues to fall head over heels for Celestia and she with him. With the help of some sexy Grimnirs, Celestia, witches and some badass immortals he searches for his "crazy granny", who has his sister and some powerful "orphans." ***spoiler alert*** That was the Celestia I knew. Blunt. Snarky. Mouthy. Yep, she was definitely back. And I still wanted to kiss her, damn it. Can't wait for the next book!!!!

hat can I say about this book without spoiling it for everyone? Heroes, is amazing, awesome, a must read, a book I could not put down, left me wanting more (something Ednah Walters is very good at). Heroes, delved further into the worlds of Eirik, Celestia, Hel, Baulder and all of those in their immediate vicinity! The connection between Eirik and Celestia grow, my understanding and love of Hel deepen. As a mother I connect with her on such a basic level. This book is a roller-coaster of emotion. It flowed so well and the characters are complex. This book has all the FEELS and I think I found someone I am going to hate just as much as the effing Norns!! Do not pass up Heroes, stay connected to the Runes story line as parts of the back story is further expounded upon within Heroes!!

Ednah does it again she has made me fall in love all over again with Eirik and Celestia's story by going into more depth with the characters. You can't help but fall in love with Ednah's stories because once you start reading them you can see her passion for each one of the characters which helps make you fall in love with EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM. Well except the Norns that is lol. In each story you start to hate the Norns even more than you did in the previous book haha. I absolutely love Ednah's work! In Demons the first book of Eirik's story you learn some about his mother, father, grandmother (makes you hate her too), and that he has a younger sister that was stolen from his parents when she was very young. Granny summons a witch named Celestia to help Eirik but there is an ulterior motive behind it. In Heroes the story continues with Eirik searching constantly for his sister but with no luck being able to find her. He then asks Celestia for her help in locating his sister with high hopes she will be able to find her. Celestia has vision of witches being murdered and can't do anything to help stop it so she thinks. But, with Eirik this is always a way a of getting things done. As much as I would like to go on I know I will wind up giving alot of spoilers and I don't want to do that. This is a must read book you will thoroughly enjoy it.

This was such an amazing book! This book is set 4 months after Demons. Ednah Walters has worked her magic once again. I loved seeing how Eirik and Celestia's relationship grows in this story. I also enjoyed the banter between all the characters. There were several very funny moments as well as some very touching ones. I was unable to put this book down and finished it in 1 day. This books ends on a cliffhanger so I'm waiting impatiently for the next book. In other words I need it now. LOL

This is the second installment of the Runes companion novels that focus on the character Eirik Baldurson, son of Norse God Baldur and Goddess Hel. Since learning of his true birthright and his dragon-shifting capabilities in book 1 'Demons', Eirik finds himself on a mission to find his, presumed dead, sister. The journey takes him into territories unknown as he travels the realms looking for clues as to her whereabouts. The story is intense and suspenseful in places, with wonderfully constructed dialogue and unexpected plot twists. A fast paced but pleasurable read. It takes place within the timeline of other Runes novels and it is very interesting seeing the storyline unfold from a different characters POV, adding yet another dimension to these wonderful novels. I particularly liked the chemistry between Eirik and his love interest, Celestia. Parts of their dialogue actually had me laughing out loud. The authors writing is accomplished and she writes with such an original and authentic voice. Her characters are complex, memorable and well developed. When asked to liken these books to another works I find it impossible because they are quite unique. Opening the pages of a Runes novel feels like coming home- the romance warms and excites you, the suspense and drama thrills you. You can enjoy the ride and experience the delights of a fantastically woven story from within the familiar embrace of well loved characters. I truly cannot wait for the next book!

Heroes is the second book in the Eirik Series, a companion to Walters’ wildly popular Runes Series. Author Ednah Walters continues to work her magic on Eirik, Celestia, and their colliding worlds. Eirik rises as a warrior, a champion, and a leader. Celestia is empowered, and continues to show loyalty and love in the face of danger. I am in awe of the depth of the feelings elicited by this story. I really love the way Walters adds complexity to the previously existing characters, especially the goddess Hel. This character is now one of my favorites of the Runes universe. I wish that there were a more detailed crossover between Heroes and Seeress (Book Four of the Runes Series), but I am happy that Walters found a logical way to tie both books together. Walters also does an amazing job of world-building, allowing me to be immersed in the realms and the action. The twist at the end of the book is mind blowing! I remain enamored with Eirik’s story. 5 stars

I love stepping into the mind of Ednah Walters and her crew of Valkryies, Reapers, Gods and Goddesses! Celestia is back in Midgard and Eirik is home searching high and low for his crazy granny. Shes the key to the whereabouts of his lost sister. Even though Celestia isnt aware, Eirik hasnt kept his distance from her like she demanded. Shes trying to forget Eirik and move on with her life but its not that easy to do. Eiriks behavior and refusal to attend a party in his honor to help him select a mate causes Hel to send Echo after the one person she knows can influence Eirik, Celestia. Echo's not about to take no for an answer so she returns to Helheim. Meanwhile, someone is killing witches and Eirik is afraid Celestia could be next. She agrees to help Eirik find his granny and he promises to protect her at all cost. Its hard to protect someone when you dont know who the threat is.

Gosh, Eirik really does have the worst luck with girls, doesn't he? First Raine, then Cora, now Celestia. Poor Eirik. I was pretty happy to continue reading about Eirik, who is just one of the many, many things I absolutely adore about this series. Seriously, I think he has it the hardest out of all the characters. He's the son of a god, with tons of unimaginable responsibility, plus girl troubles, plus not having too many good friends where he is. As for Celestia, ugh, why on earth does she have to be so stubborn? *weeps over the breakup of Eiristia* This book, I felt, really focused a whole lot more on emotion. Hel, remember her? The scary kinda evil mom? It was just so beautiful to see the heartwarming, motherly side to her. Scenes of mother - son bonding were definitely my favorites. Ednah moved me to tears yet again. We got to see another, deeper side to Echo that just added to the flawless, multi-faceted personalities of Ednah's characters. Like I said, Heroes was a roller coaster of emotion. And the conclusion with Celestia - there is just so much I would love to say, but I'm not gonna spoil, because I really hope you'll get the books for yourself.

Must Read! After the end of Demons, the future looked pretty bad for Eirik and Celestia's relationship. Ednah didn't disappoint in this one as they struggle with their issues and search for Eirik's sister. By the end of this book, Eirik's timeline is caught up to where his story has been overlapping with that of Raine and Cora.

This has to be my favorite of the series. I love all the action and the love story. Love that you get to see more and more about Hel and Baldur! The story just keeps getting more in depth and even better!! Ednah has a wonderful talent!

Ughhhh such a good book I need more though its a bit confusing knowing it happens on the literal background of the runes series its such a good book to finally see eirik move on from our sexy snappy Cora to our cute take no bs Celestia. As I read this book and the one before I was lead to believe that shes gonna stay human and that eirik was never gonna do anything and become a celibate monk lol but damn that juicy make out scene and that heart wrenching scene where he makes her immortal just because he can't live without her and doesn't want her to die. What brought it all to a close was that vague as hell sleigh of hand knowledge that Ednah smacks you in the face with that Celestia may have a sister and that the Einmirya the rescued isn't Eirik real sister. In conclusion I NEED GODS *breaks down crying*

** spoiler alert ** How dare you end the book like that and leave me wanting for more? Anyway this book was awesome, Eirik’s granny is crazy and now we have to deal with a fake sister or something like that, Celestia’s mother is crazy too, I want to know who the red head is and why does she protect Celestia. Eirik is doing well by leaving the norns waiting, they deserve it but now I fear that they might have something to tell them about the fake sister. But we will find about it on the next one which I hope it comes out quickly

I love reading about this world from so many points of view and so much happening during one time frame. Great addition to the series
