Book two of NOLA Knights, the heart-stoppingly sexy spin-off series by Men of Haven author Rhenna Morgan

As an avtoritet for the most powerful crime syndicate in New Orleans, Kir Vasilek doesn’t act without purpose, doesn’t speak without thought and never, ever loses his cool. The lives of his brothers, his family, depend on it. But then Cassie McClintock strolls back into his life, and staying cool is next to impossible. Cassie was the one who got away—and Kir is willing to break all his own rules to keep it from happening ever again.

It’s one thing to report on the Russian mafia; it’s quite another to sleep with one of them, especially one as dangerous, and as sinfully sexy, as Kir Vasilek. Even though the information he once provided helped make her career—and the memory of his touch still keeps her up at night—Cassie knows too much about his world to go down that path.

But when Kir reaches out for help after a rival family comes for one of his own, Cassie doesn’t want to say no, either to investigating a gruesome murder or to the heat that pulls her right back into his arms…and his heart. Taming Kir—and helping to save the family she’s come to call her own—is not the story she thought she’d write, but it’s the one she’s determined will get a happy ending.

Hers to Tame is the highly anticipated follow-up to His to Defend. And don’t miss Roman’s story in Mine to Keep, coming soon from Rhenna Morgan and Carina Press.

Cassie has an eye for photography and and nose for news stories. One of those just might get her killed. After reading book one of the NOLA Knights books, I couldn’t wait to dive it to Cassie and Kir’s story. There’s just something about those Bratva brothers but Kir’s backstory is just extra good, in a heart wrenching way. I loved Cassie too and was thankful she had an Aunt Frieda in her corner. The story flows very well and I thought it was super clever how the author sprinkled in clues that didn’t even appear to be clues until towards the end. It all comes together in a pretty neat package with one or two red herrings to make it extra interesting. I didn’t expect the explanation and that’s a good thing. I like it when the author surprises me as long it makes sense. Kir is just the right side of protective and it’s was good to see Cassie not immediately run from it. She’s really just a cool character and someone who I was happy to see Kir claim. And claim her he does. As with book one in the series, the bond is almost tangible but not actually paranormal. Two halves of a whole, magnet to steel. I gave a little squeal when I realized that I got to meet Roman’s intended for book three. That book can’t be released fast enough! He’s one of those ‘still waters run deep’ kind of men and she’s totally going to get him stirred up in all the right ways! This is a Russian mafia romance that doesn’t stray into the dark too much. It’s touching and hot and well worth the read. originally posted at long and short reviews

Kir and Cassie have history that has them reconnecting when she comes back to town after he reaches out for her help. I loved this story! It is filled with drama that draws you in and holds you captive from start to finish is. He is alpha all the way and he and Cassie set this story apart which is a testament to Ms. Morgan's story telling talent. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book from Netgalley for an honest review

With my love for adult romance novel’s on the rise, I knew HERS TO TAME was a must-read for me. Second chance romance, FTW! In addition, I have an unhealthy obsession with organized crime, so this was just a PERFECT bonus. Just so you know, this is the second book in a series, but it didn’t hinder my enjoyment in the slightest. But, I will for sure going back to read book one, HIS TO DEFEND, because I must know about Sergei! Below, find our more about HERS TO TAME, and check out my review! First, I have to admit, HERS TO TAME is freaking HOT. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts. Not knowing the full story behind their encounter at first, I was anticipating their reunion all the same. As I mentioned, I have a soft spot or weakness if you will, for organized crime. Quite frankly, I loved getting into the story with Kir and how their organization is run within New Orleans. Naturally, we have murder & revenge here, and have both Kir and Cassie dive into the investigation was delightful! Relationship wise, I loved how well Kir and Cassie balanced each other out. Both are stubborn, and Kir is nothing short of an alpha male, yet Cassie is not someone to be submissive. Yet, the idea of someone taking care of her, and bringing her into a family, hit her hard and was something that you can tell she needed. I also loved that the angst was very low in this one. Tension, yes! But, I never got that dreadful feeling of something hindering their HEA, save for themselves, of course. Cassie had a tendency to get down and gloomy, she knew enough about herself to know what she wanted, and what she was able to handle. I love that. We also get a lot of fun scenes with Kir’s family and Cassie’s aunt Frieda. These were lighter moments to balance out the tension of the storyline. Actually, several parts are laugh out loud funny! Overall, I really enjoyed HERS TO TAME. Full of intrigue, action, and a sexy alpha male, this one isn’t to miss!

The second book brings another Russian knight to the knees. Kir brokes many rules for reporter Cassie and he let her go when she broke all the contact between them. But destiny has its ways and brings them together again and this time Kir is decided that he will keep her and make her his. It is a lovely story that is easy to read with great characters. Both Cassie and Kir find in eachother what they were missing their whole life. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

I don't read much in the mafia-type romance trope, but every once in a while, I'll hear about one that piques my interest. Such was the case with Hers to Tame, and I have to say that it did live up to its reputation. The story held my interest from the beginning with a good mix of terrific characters, fast-paced storyline, and even a bit of suspense. But the thing that most won me over was this couple. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Kir and Cassie. Their chemistry is off the charts and almost every time Kir speaks, I fell a little harder. This is part of a series, but it works just fine as a standalone, but I will say that I now feel the need to read the first book - not because I feel like something was missing here, but because I want more of this world. All in all, a seriously good read in the genre.

This was a very sweet and unexpected mafia romance. When I usually read these novels, I find them to be dark and gritty, and I feel the heroine to be a little ditzy. Not with this novel! Cassie, the main character, is a smart, and capable person who just happens to fall in love with Kir, a member of a Russian mob family. The focus of this novel was not on the violence of the mob, but the love found between the members of the family and the main characters. I received an advanced reader's copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Title: Hers to Tame Author: Rhenna Morgan Publisher: Carina Press Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Hers to Tame" by Rhenna Morgan My Speculation: I loved the follow up ''Hers To Tame' from this author's 'His To Defend,' and I indeed loved Kir Vasilek. I found this story about Kir and Cassie really full of not only suspense but hot steam between the two. Add some of the past characters of 'Men of Haven' along with the ones from this story, and you will be given quite an interesting read. I will say one of my favorite characters was Cassie's aunt Freida Shalaway. From this story, we will have gruesome murder, along with someone causing trouble for Cassie, and adduction that will keep you turning the pages to see what's coming next. By the time we get to the end, we get one enjoyable read seeing how Kir was 'Hers to Tame,' and it was a fun read seeing if they will get there HEA.

Morgan has brought New Orleans alive with lovable characters and a delicious, steamy second chance romance with a couple that just seem to fit. Overall, I really enjoyed this contemporary romance! Frieda was by far my favorite character as she provided some very necessary comic relief and lightened Cassie’s gloomy thoughts. It seemed to me that Kir was doing more of the taming than Cassie but watching them build a solid foundation of trust was heartwarming. If you are looking for a lower angst, deliciously steamy read with an alpha that does all he can to protect his lady love, then this needs to be on your TBR! I’m looking forward to reading Roman’s story next! **I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Disclaimers: This review may contain spoilers. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This review is a stream of consciousness review. Hers to Tame is the second book in the NOLA Knights series. It’s a great book and a great addition to the series. Kir was the right amount of sweet, possessive, and protective. I liked that the Russian men seem to realize and accept their feelings a little quicker than the MOH. And I liked that Cassie saved the day in the end. One thing I always enjoy about Rhenna Morgan’s female characters is how different all their careers/interests are. Something that I appreciate is that even though this is a spinoff series and the MOH characters make appearances the books still mainly focus on the Russian men, their women, the family they have built, and the life they have in New Orleans. I did wish the book was a bit longer and dirtier, and I thought that the first sex scene that appeared was a little too similar to one of the sex scenes from His to Defend. Maybe I missed this part, but I don't think it was explained why Axel and Lizzy were in town for Father's Day and not everyone else. Also, I'm a little confused regarding the timeline because in the epilogue of Down and Dirty it was revealed that Lizzy was pregnant, but when they appear in this book it does not seem like she is. I guess His to Defend and Hers to Tame take place after the events of Down and Dirty’s last chapter, but before the epilogue. In this book one of Kir's men is murdered. His name is Kevin and he is a hacker. Then in the excerpt for Mine to Keep, which is at the very end of this book, Bonnie has a brother named Kevin who also dabbles in hacking. It's too similar I think. They should have different names at least. After reading the Mine to Keep teaser I thought for a minute that they might be the same person and somehow Kevin faked his death, but that doesn’t make any sense. These were just some thoughts/questions I had while reading the story. Anyways, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it, and I am looking forward to the third and final book in this series, Mine to Keep featuring Roman and Bonnie (who was introduced in this book). This review is also on Goodreads.

Reconnecting with happiness This author sure knows how to create the perfect alpha heroes. She took us on a fantastic journey to reconnecting with the past and finding the family you need. I love how these two came together and how their relationship grew and evolved. This is the perfect second book to the series. I can’t wait to read the next story the author brings us.

Five amazing alpha goodness stars!!! Kir is beyond the perfect hero...he’s what other heroes strive to be! ” , ’ , .” Eight months ago, Cassie began to make a name for herself with the release of several news stories involving one of New Orleans’ questionable citizens. It was no coincidence that Kir was a large resource during her work on the case. However, when his own character and connections are called into question, she ghosted him, leaving him with no explanation. Now, her well is dry and she’s struggling to stay on her professional feet. Perhaps it’s time to confront the man that has held way too many thoughts in her mind. Cassie had a lot of hang ups regarding her professional and lifestyle choices, all of them due to her family. As the underachiever and black sheep, she’s lived life in constant turmoil, never measuring up to their expectations. All of this shines through in her thoughts and insecurities. She wasn’t your typical tough heroine, but when she needed to be strong, she was more than capable. As for Kir...there are not enough words to describe him. He was totally swoon worthy in that he cared for Cassie in a way that you don’t see a lot of heroes do, even when they’re the strong alpha type. She was first in everything and he never hesitated to let her know exactly where she stood with him. Protective, possessive, with a few instances of jealousy, he was so sweet, kind and caring that I was a drooling mess. ”’ , . , .” While this is centered around a mystery that added a bit of drama, the crux of the story is the romance and Cassie’s acceptance of Kir and the family. A lot of the excitement surrounding the bad guy is off page, and while I did feel a bit cheated by that, I was thrilled at Cassie’s response. She really grew throughout this book and it was completely believable. This also has some wonderful secondary characters, most from the first book as well as books from the Men of Haven series, but it also introduced us to the potential for a new heroine that I want, badly. Included was Cassie’s Aunt Frieda who was just as amazing as this author’s other older women/mother figures. She was a real hoot and I hope we see more of her as well. Overall, this was a wonderful story, filled with emotion and blooming with romance all wrapped up in an alpha’s arm.

WOW! “HERS TO TAME” is another 6 star winner, IMHO :) I was hooked from page one by this 2nd marvelous, new book in the outstanding ‘NOLA Knights’ spinoff from the phenomenal, ‘Men of Haven’ world! ... Whether you’ve read the 1st page-turner, (“His To Defend”) or not, get ready to be swept away by this fantastic MUST READ that held me captive, & then left me craving more! ... But, I promise you won’t want to miss out on book one first ;) ... Ms. Morgan has a magical way of weaving words together for each amazing book’s tapestry, with unique plots, great descriptions and attention to detail, plus I can always count on the witty dialogue and strong, relatable characters that bring the story to life! ... Oh, and don’t forget to wear gloves for some smoking hot, melt-your-kindle, contemporary romance ;) Add in some suspense & intrigue & you’ve got a chart-topper that will keep readers engaged & turning pages like crazy! ... Even tho I always volunteer to read this author’s books, these are my honest feelings without any outside influences, so I do strongly recommend this novel, and series to adult 18+ fans of fiction. Now I can’t wait for the next book, but I certainly will ;)

Hers to Tame by Rhenna Morgan NOLA Knights #2 Smiling as I think about this book. Kir was a hunk of a guy and his care and tenderness with Cassie, the woman that was to be “his” was heart warming. Cassie was an intelligent reporter who met Kir months before but stayed away when she heard rumors he was Russian Mafiya. The connection was too strong to keep them apart forever, though. I love this author’s books and loved this one, too! What I liked: * Cassie: focused on her work, a capable reporter but really wished she could be a photographer instead. * Kir: my oh my...what a guy! Dapper dresser, lethal but loving. He is a man you would want at your side through thick and thin. * The “family” - such a loving group and there for one another * Frieda: a better mother figure to Cassie than her own mother * Getting to see the group from the Haven series * The writing, story and series – love these books! * Knowing that Bonnie’s story is next and looking forward to reading it soon What I didn’t like: * The baddie – deserved to be caught and punished * Knowing that I will have to wait till the next book is finished Did I like this book? Definitely Would I read more of this series? Without a doubt Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin-Carina Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

Rhenna Morgan is one of the most intelligent authors I know and I always look forward to the release of her latest book. She is a consummate researcher, focusing on the details that make her characters jump off the page and into your heart. Which makes this book all the more exciting because some of my favorite Men of Haven characters make surprise cameos!! Her NOLA Knights series is full of danger and suspense and “Hers to Tame” was so riveting that I read it twice!! I fell in love with Kir, the sexy, second in command to Sergei, who we met in “His to Defend.” Kir is fiercely loyal, devoted to his family and when it comes to Cassie, his love for her is powerful and everlasting. He is her protector, her confidant, and her forever, and he will stop at nothing to ensure her safety. He is a powerful, imposing man, who is also thoughtful, romantic and knows what he wants. Kir never forgot about the steamy nights he spent with Cassie and when she suddenly reappeared in his life on the night of his birthday, he knew that she was the only present he could have wished for. Cassie replays her nights with Kir with wistful longing, and she regrets how she left things, which is why she felt it necessary to apologize to him. Kir is the most handsome and magnetic man she had ever met and she was drawn to him in ways she could not explain. Their connection was magical and heartfelt, but it was also surrounded by danger and a life she didn’t really understand. Can Cassie’s heart and mind agree to a life with Kir and all that it comes with? Kir loves Cassie more than life itself, but will it ever be enough?

This is the second book in the NOLA Knights series and it was just as good as the first .Kir Vasilek has seen bad things happen to his father in the name of love. He doesn’t get involved with more than a one night stand. When he meets Cassie he breaks his own rule. "The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.' Cassie McClintock is a reporter. They had a few encounters then Cassie found out Kir was connected to the New Orleans mafia and cut things off. “I am an honorable man, and—no matter my line of work or present affiliations—you will always be safe within my care” Let me tell you when these Russian Alpha’s make up there minds that’s it. Game Over!! Your Mine!! Talk about swoon worthy hero. Aunt Frieda is quirky and sassy. She fits right in with the Haven family. I was hoping Bonnie would be the next heroine so Whoo Hoo!! Roman watch out. I’m not real big on what most people call mafia romance but this one is perfection.

Gentleman alert! That's right, our hero is one of those rare gentleman's that we love and adore! He opens the door for women. He walks her to her door. He picks her up from her house and drives her to their destination. He takes care of her car for her. Why can't we get more heroes like Kir??? We NEED more men like him. To say the least, I loved this book, and I could say it is all due to Kir, but we actually have a really admirable heroine as well. I love that she is the perfect woman for a man like him. He deserved to have someone who will appreciate who he is. There were a few times she questioned Kir's need to take care of her. Once you hear his response to these questions, you will fall even harder. This was an all around fantastic couple to read about. Well done, Rhenna Morgan. Well done.

Hers to Tame is book two in the NOLA Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. I need to say right here at the beginning that this book right here, this one, is why I read. This man, Kir, is all my very favorite heroes wrapped up in one delicious package. I love him so much. But in this book, he only has eyes for Cassie, and will stop at nothing until he makes her his. Kir Vasilek is thirty six years old. He works for the most powerful man in organized crime in New Orleans, Sergei, whom you may have read about in the first book in this series. Kir’s family are the people he has chosen as his family, the people he surrounds himself with every day. His loyalty to these people knows no boundaries. He will do anything to keep them safe. Cassie McClintock is twenty five and is a news reporter for a local TV station in New Orleans. She first met Kir several months ago when working on a story. Their chemistry was undeniable and they spent a couple of passion filled nights together. But when Cassie realized just who Kir worked for, she knew continuing to see him would be frowned upon by her network. So she cut ties. Neither has ever forgotten the other. When their paths cross again, Kir knows he can’t let her walk away again. He never thought he would find what Sergei has. But with Cassie, he can see it all within his grasp. He just has to prove to her that he is worthy of her. A death within Vir’s family gives him the reason he needs to keep Cassie close. She is just beginning to accept that Vir has other intentions for her when a threat surfaces. Now it becomes evident just how serious Vir is as he takes measures to keep her safe. Cassie has never experienced a close knit family and with Vir’s family, she finds herself enveloped in their midst. They welcome her with open arms. She only has to let go of her insecurities from her past and accept them. I never thought I’d react the way I did to Kir. He is so proper, his manner of speech so perfect. But every word out of his mouth made me melt. His protectiveness, the way he treated Cassie, his loyalty, all of it! The things this man said! Just Wow! I couldn’t put this down as Cassie and Kir found their way together. Cassie’s Aunt Frieda was so much fun. And of course, we get some appearances from our beloved characters from the Men of Haven series. Rhenna Morgan seems to have the ability to pick out all the favorite things from my mind and write them into her books. How she does it, I don’t know. But what I do know is that I will continue to read her books. The next book in this series will be Roman’s story, Mine to Keep. “My beauty. My prize. My heart.”

I was so excited to read Kir’s story. Kir and Cassie have a bit of a past, that gets reignited. Their story is full of suspense and steam. I so like the interconnected characters between Nola and Men of Haven. Lots great alpha male hotness! #netgalley.....I cannot wait for the next stories to come!
