Hidden In Liquid: Return to Me - A Love Lost in Time by Jane Maria

A Dream House...Where Dreams Come True. . . Marisa always knew she was different-in a special way. When she was just a little girl, her father introduced her to her celestial sister, MoonGlow. Throughout her life, Marisa has been aware of mysteries and magic just beyond what she can see. Now in her early forties, she's come to a turning point. She is a young widow, and her son has left for college. It's time for a new dream...and with hope and a mystical "knowing," she buys a supposedly haunted house near the Great Liquid...the ocean, which has always inspired respect and fear in her. As she inhabits her haven by the ocean, she comes to realize that it isn't haunted: it is alive with spirits who want to draw her into a realm where past and present merge-where she can learn of the journey that brought her here. As she surrenders to her sister MoonGlow, and the moon's ancient lover High Tide in an ecstatic dance of fate, Marisa will see the triumphs and tragedies of a past that intertwines with the present, as old friends and lovers become new, as past sorrow pierces her present karma, and past joy flowers into new beginnings. Immersed in High Tide's wonder, guided by MoonGlow, Marisa will truly discover what lies hidden in liquid.

Reviewed by Sefina Hawke for Readers' Favorite Hidden in Liquid (Return to Me - A Love Lost in Time) by Jane Maria is a paranormal romance novel. This is a lovely book that would appeal most to a mixed audience of mature young adults and adults who enjoy supernatural romance. Marisa is a widow in her forties, with a son who just went away to college. Maria always knew she was special and she spent her whole life aware of magic that was just out of her sight. She makes the decision to change her life when she buys a house that is rumored to be haunted by the Great Liquid, also known as the ocean ... only to find out that the house is not haunted, but instead is mystical. This one decision puts her on a path guided by her celestial sister, MoonGlow, a path that will take her farther than she ever imagined. Hidden in Liquid (Return to Me - A Love Lost in Time) by Jane Maria was an interesting book to read because it flowed differently than most books. Instead of having a timeline that only moves in one direction, this one moved both backwards and forwards. This made for an interesting storyline that truly allowed me to understand Marisa as her own character. Marisa was a very interesting female character as she has lived her own life and has a son of her own, yet she has a youthful feel to her that made it easy to be captivated by her character. Author Jane Maria was clearly in her element in writing this book as it is a flawless work of fiction with a beautiful romance. I can only hope the author decides to write a sequel to Hidden in Liquid!

Reviewed by Sheri Hoyte for Reader Views (01/17) “Hidden in Liquid” is a romantic time travel novel by debut author, Jane Maria. The story follows Marisa, a woman in her early forties, who, after the death of her husband, and her son leaving for college, finds that she is at a turning point in her life. Taught at an early age by her father, Marisa grew up curious and intrigued about the magic and mystical realms that exist beyond what the human eye can see. Marisa always believed that the moon and the ocean, that she affectionately called MoonGlow and High Tide, were lovers. Marisa was not at all surprised when she felt compelled to buy a supposedly haunted house near the ocean – certainly, it was MoonGlow who drew her to the place. Marisa renovates the house and indeed realizes she was called to this place to begin a journey of a lifetime, as she experiences and connects all the joys and tragedies of the past and the present, to realize her place in the vast universe. As a huge fan of romantic time travel, I was excited to read “Hidden in Liquid.” The author does a fine job of weaving together a unique celestial tale. I found the writing to be quite fluid and effortless, in that the author has a very distinctive voice that resonates clearly throughout the story. One issue that took away from the story just a bit for me personally, was the repetition of certain phrases and telling of events. For instance, several sentences start off with, “As I have said…,” and “As I have mentioned before…,” followed by the re-telling of events or circumstances, such as the moon always appearing to Marisa in full phase, or how it came to be that Marisa took time off from work to buy and renovate her dream house on the beach and write a novel. As a reader, I do not need to be told things repeatedly before I catch the point. Of course, I realize this may not have been the intention, but rather a deliberate action in order to keep the flow of the text consistent. Overall, however, I found “Hidden in Liquid” by Jane Maria to be a charming, unique story, full of adventure and emotion, with delightful, quirky, and off-the-wall characters, creative time-travel elements, and an enchanting setting.
