About the Author

Cheyenne McCray is an award winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who loves to torture characters-whether they're misbehaving or not-and kill off deserving individuals. She also totally gets off on blowing things up. All fictionally, of course. She'd rather chew glass than write sweet and sugary. Give her a hideous demon or particularly nasty villain to slay any day.

Cheyenne enjoys creating stories of love, suspense, and redemption. She loves building worlds her readers can get lost in. If you would like to find out what odd and unusual things Cheyenne is up to these days, cruise her website any time, take a look at the bizarrely normal yet strange FAQs, and even drop her a line or two.

I loved how the author jumped right into the story. It was easy to fall in love with the main characters. A lot of fast-paced action keeps you continually turning the page to see what happens next! Hard to put down once you start it, so make sure you have a comfy blanket and cup of your favorite drink ready!

HIDDEN PREY (LAWMEN, BK 1) by CHEYENNE MCCRAY HOT! HOT! HOT! And not only because the location takes place in Arizona! Tori Cox has left her abusive boyfriend and on her way to visit her parents in Bisbee. Taking a short cut, she sees a man murdered in an alley and runs for her life. She literally runs right into the arms of Landon Walker, a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security. The murdered man turns out to be an undercover agent who was investigation a particular drug cartel. Lots of explosive action as Tori is shunted from safe house to safe house, while members of the cartel keep finding them. Cheyenne McCray's books are always highly engaging ... extremely nasty bad guys and beautiful heroines, who are strong women in their own right, and a passionate relationship between hero and heroine. When I take a break away from serial killers, I find it very cleansing for my soul to read this author's books. I always try to remember to keep the fan on when I'm reading ...but that's a good thing to me. This is first in a series ... I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series, as well. Thank You to the author who supplied me with a digital copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

A Fantastic Book Bisbee, Arizona Tori Cox is a talented musician that is also much sought after. She heads back to the small southwest town of her roots as she is getting away from an abusive relationship. When she arrives back in her hometown of Bisbee she finds herself in the wrong place at the very worst time. She witnesses the execution of a federal agent. An execution that is carried out by the son of El Demonio, who is the head of the Jimenez Cartel. Suddenly Tori and everyone she loves is in danger as the cartel comes after her to stop her before she can testify. Landon Walker is a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security. He sees a beautiful woman running from the cartel, one of the world’s most ruthless cartels and by rescuing Tori he manages to save her. Now he is determined to protect her. Though soon protecting her isn’t enough for him. Landon’s heart has been wounded but soon the passion that blazes between them proves he wants Tori in ways he has never wanted another woman. Diego Montego Jimenez is not about to let one young American woman threaten his family or his business. He will do everything in his power to kill Tori. He will not let anyone live that can testify against the Jimenez Cartel. Landon will go to the ends of the earth to protect Tori. He isn’t about to let the cartel get their hands on Tori. He is also determined to show her that he will never let her go. This is story that starts out fast and never slows down. The action is fast and furious and amazing. It makes for a story that is hard to put down. The characters are complex and well written and make for a story that the reader can easily get lost in. The small town of Bisbee comes to life for the reader and proves to almost be a character all on its own with the rich history of the town. This is the start of a series that if the other books prove to be as good as this one, will be one series readers that love romantic suspense won’t want to miss. Received a review copy

Hidden Prey is the first in a new series by Cheyenne McCrey about a circle of friends and the spine-tingling suspense they all go through while finding love. I have to say that this kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and there was no way I put this book down. I’m guessing you won’t either. Landon Walker lost his fiancée 14 years ago and still blames himself. He works as a federal agent and likes his job. He’s visiting family when a woman comes running out of nowhere, terrified, with someone chasing her. He decides to help. Tori Cox is a musician on the run from an abusive ex. But she sees something she shouldn’t and becomes a target. Landon saves her, but while on the run, secrets and lies could mean danger, especially for Tori. An action packed, sexy love story that you’ll just suck up! A wonderful beginning to this series, and I can’t wait for the rest!

Tori plays the clarinet in a symphony. After a bad break up she goes to her parents. As she is walking up the hill, she witnesses a murder. A drug cartel killed a DHS agent and now she is on the run for her life because they want her dead. Landan is the DHS agent assigned to protect her while they gather evidence and try to figure out how the cartel keeps finding her. Over a year ago his fiancee was killed and he has been barely living until he lays his eyes on Tori. She has awakened him and he'll do anything to keep her safe. Plenty of action, sex, and a story that you will not be able to put down.

J: There a few disturbing descriptions of treatment of women. Except for that it is a fairly good story.

Tori Cox accidentally witnessed a murder and literally ran into Landon trying to escape from the cartel that was trying to kill her. Landon kept reassuring her that he could keep her safe, but that proved to be a huge challenge. For me this story was good, but not great. There were a few parts that ran on a bit and I skimmed over. All and all, I felt that it was worth the time. The story was good and the suspense was there.

Another great series by Cheyenne McCray.  Starts off fast paced and keeps going right up to the last page.  She does a great job with the emotional issues that the main character faces and it is interesting to watch him grow emotionally.  The book is well written and there is great development in not only the main characters but the secondary ones too.  I highly recommend not only this series by Cheyenne McCray but her other books as well.

At first I thought this was going to be a book where the leading man was going to have a pity party through out the whole book. I'm glad I was wrong. The action is intense and both lead characters are great. This was an action packed book and I can not wait to read the next in the series.

It's been quite a while since I've read anything by the fab Cheyenne McCray and even longer since I've read something in the romantic suspense category, so I had no expectation coming into this book. With that being said.... I was pleasantly surprised. The story starts of with Landen and let me tell you, he made me want to just grab him up right away! Then we are introduced to Tori, our mysterious heroine who is on the run! When she ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and runs straight into Landen's arms the story is on! I loved the chemistry between these two right from the start and at first I wasn't sure how they would come together but they just gravitated to each other and the story worked out beautifully. I loved seeing them fall head over heels for each other! The plot of the book starts off right away and the bad guys, gun toting, drug dealing bad guys are some seriously sick twits. I absolutely adored that they were fleshed out had depth and added something to the story and plot development. That was why I ended my affair with RS before, the bad guys were too generic & nebulous. With the Big Bads being so fleshed out, it brought a whole new element to the story that I was surprised I enjoyed. Over all this book captured my attention, made me want to beat the minutes left time on my kindle, and judging that I absolutely devoured this book- It was AMAZING! This is a must read and I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series in a way I haven't looked forward to a sequel in a while. :)

Hidden Prey is one of those great books that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I have to admit I was hanging on tightly and wondering what in the world was going to happen next. There is plenty of suspense and drama that kept me spellbound throughout the whole story. Tori Cox has just left her boyfriend and really just wants to go home to see her parents. All she wants is some down time with her family and some time away from the stress of her life. Then she sees something she really wasn't prepared for. She watches the execution of a federal agent. That is when life starts to get crazy for Tori.  In her quest to stay safe she meets federal agent Landon Walker. Landon has a bone to pick with the cartel that killed one of his fellow agents. So he makes it his mission to protect Tori. He doesn't mean to form feelings for her but they are drawn to each other.  There are so many things that happen in this book. Just when you think Tori and Landon are safe they so ARE NOT! Things blow up, people are killed, shots are fired. There is drama and suspense all over the place in this book. Then there is the romance between  Tori and Landon. They are just what the other needs. Landon is healing from losing a loved one. Tori is freshly broken up with her boyfriend. I loved watching these two get to know each other and fall for each other amidst the drama that is now Tori's life. I don't want to tell you too much. I will tell you that you should grab a copy of this book. It is the first book in the Lawmen series. I can't wait to see what Ms. McCray comes up with next.  I know I will be anxiously awaiting her next release. She always serves up a terrific storyline. I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Hidden Prey.

3.5* Tori Cox, a talented and sought after musician, heads back to her roots in a small southwest town in Arizona as she flees an abusive relationship and Landon Walker, a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security meet when he comes to her rescue as she's running from the men she's witnessed kill another man. Tory and Landon go into hiding but are found at very turn. Will they find the men looking for Tory or will they find her first?  I enjoyed the book and the characters. Very suspenseful and incredibly hot! Landon and Tory have really good chemistry. This is not my favorite book by Cheyenne McCray but I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

What a fun and exciting tale! 4.75 stars Hidden Prey by Cheyenne McCray is the first book in the exciting ‘Lawmen’ series. Landon Walker works for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency of the Department of Homeland Security and that has become his entire focus since the tragedy that destroyed his life. Music professor and clarinet player Tori Cox has fled back home after her relationship has imploded but she never could have anticipated becoming the key witness in a dangerous case that could change the structure of a powerful drug cartel. Fortunately, Tori finds a protector in the sexy and powerful Landon but the enemies they are facing may have more resources than the pair can overcome. Together, Landon and Tori search for a way to survive and perhaps to find a way to allow the attraction they feel for one another time to flourish. I love romantic suspense stories and this one definitely appeals to my love of a mixture of excitement and love story. There is always a soft spot in my heart for those in the law enforcement field and yum, this series promises to hit all of the notes that I most adore in this genre. The story starts with a poignant description and only becomes more intense as it progresses. I enjoyed the way layers unfolded around the hero and heroine and it is always wonderful for me to read about heroines who are proactive in their own defense. The villains are very creepy and this definitely is not a story for those who are squeamish because there is a fair amount of violence and a pretty disturbing sexual assault by one of the main bad guys that highlights his evil nature. I think that this is a fantastic start to an enthralling series and I can’t wait to read more stories from this very talented author. © Night Owl Reviews I received a copy of this title in return for an honest review.

I am a fan of Cheyenne McCray's books. I have loved her previous two series Riding Tall and Rough and Ready. Hidden Prey is the first book in her new Lawmen series. I have been looking forward to this book and I was not disappointed. Landon and Tori are both strong characters who will steal your heart. We meet Landon Walker who is a DHS ICE agent who is struggling to come back to the land of the living after a tragic event in his not so long ago past. We also meet Tori Cox who is a talented musician who has decided to take control of her life and leave behind a relationship that isn't right for her. When these two people are thrown together after Tori witnesses a murder, we are taken on a fast-paced roller coaster ride. In every scene with Tori and Landon, you could feel their attraction towards each other. Sparks were flying off the pages. Several of my favorite scenes involved their intimate moments:) Ms. McCray always writes such strong characters. She even made me see a small part of decency in George which surprised me. Just wait till you meet him and you will see what I mean. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I can't wait for the next installment.

Landon has been in hell for the last 14 months, after his fiancé was killed in an accident, but he's trying to dig himself out of his pain. Tori is has just made a life altering change in her life, namely getting rid of her creep ex. As the old saying goes, life changes around every corner. Tori and Landon are thrown together and their lives are on nothing but a roller coaster afterwards. I loved all the little twists and changes that happened in this story!!! As per usual job well done Ms. McCray another series that I know I'm going to be addicted to.
