4 out of 5 stars! After ten years of being away Nathan (Nate) comes back home to London believing his father has passed away, only to learn the bitter truth that in actuality his older brother is dead while his father still lives, which makes Nathan the new heir. As a way of punishing his father, Nathan plans to marry the tawdriest woman he can find, and with the help of his godmother, he thinks he finds the perfect woman in Maddy (Madelyn). However, though Maddy grew up as an actress the secrets in her own past could ruin the possible future that they’ve carved out for themselves. Will all their plans come crashing down around them or will fate have other plans in store? This dynamic novel was entertaining from the very beginning! The ways Nathan and Maddy go about trying to exact their revenge was hilarious and I was fascinated with how Maddy slowly seemed to fit perfectly into Nathan’s life and into his family. While the characters were a bit all over the place in their demeanor it was all of their eccentricities that regaled me the whole way through. Nathan and Maddy were a unique couple, in that though they were virtual strangers, their revenge made them their most trusted allies and that in itself made their rapid relationship to be very believable. I liked their comrade and respect for one another, especially with how that grew into a loving relationship. Though I am still upset with how Nathan handled Maddy’s big revealing, I appreciated how he made his grand gesture at the end of the novel. They were a sweet charismatic couple that I enjoyed reading about! I recommend this novel to those looking for a compelling historical romance! Review By: From Me to You ... We’ve all seen this: heroes and heroines in historic romance with fairly commonplace traits: second sons, dysfunctional family relationships, inappropriate or scandalous career choices and beliefs, even a deep-rooted hesitation to commit. With all of those similar issues, there is a need for the author to make these moments fresh and new so their story stands out from the crowd. In Olivia Drake’s His Wicked Wish, she does just that with characters that bring themselves to the table, good and bad, and show how they learn to function with, or despite, those traits that are unusual or unexpected for their sex or position in society. Nathan is back in England after a long absence, brought home only by a letter from his Godmother, telling him of his father’s impending death. With delays and miscommunication, and a recovery, Nathan arrives only to find his father is recovered but his brother has died. A cruel blow, as he despises his father and now must accept his position as the heir and Viscount Rowley. Still chafing with childhood resentments, he decides that he will marry the most inappropriate female he can find who accepts his offer, thus destroying his father’s reputation and getting some of his own back. Madelyn Swann is an actress, supporting herself in a scandalous profession because she has no other choice. The disgrace of her birth brought her mother low, and she’s also got several chips on her shoulder, and does want her own chance at revenge. She’s also aware of the need to find a ‘protector’ who will allow her to exist if she exits the stage, but not leave her struggling. An unusual request from Lady Milford, requesting she meet the newly title Viscount. These two arrive with their own agendas, and Nathan, while charming initially, is quite dismissive of his prospective bride: he needs her to accomplish his plans, and she’s done nothing to deserve his short-shrift. HE offered the contract, he set the terms, and she is simply following along with both. There is a solid attraction between the two – and while their ‘public’ faces are solid in the acting their parts, particularly with Maddy’s acting contrary to her rather refined nature as she steps into the role of crass, loud-mouthed and grasping actress, their personal alone time shows more of her true character which intrigues and amuses Nathan. A touch of mystery, a bit of action and a revelation that tests their new bond bring these two to the point where only honesty and the connection that binds them can bring us to a conclusion, but it is touch and go as to whether that will mean a happy ever after. Engaging and intriguing, Wilde’s writing is a pleasure as we skip through the scenarios facing the couple on their way to the end. A wonderfully written story that brings a new twist to the usual, and shows that appearances and professions do not always ring true. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

loved this story! Once again Lady Milford loans out her red slippers to bring a woman her true love. This time she pairs her godson, Nathan with Maddy, an actress. She also just happens to be the granddaughter of a duke. I was laughing out loud at Maddy's antics with Nathan's family. She really knew how to get under their skin. I also really enjoyed watching Maddy and Nathan's relationship grow from a marriage of convenience to one of love. I've really enjoyed Drake's Cinderella Sisterhood series and hope that she continues with it!

Actress Madelyn Swann was ready to put her plan into action. One way to do that was to find a way into the nobility. An auction is just the thing, with only a select few invited to bid. An excellent way into the inner circles comes in the form of Nathan Atwood, Viscount Rowley. He makes her a generous offer the night of her auction. Maddy would be perfect to scandalize his stuffy cruel father, the Earl of Gilmore. He plans to not only embarrass his father but to leave her behind in his home. Turns out they each have secrets and when they come out, fireworks follow. The chemistry between Maddy and Nathan was incredible. They clashed both in and out of the bedroom making for a delicious story. Little twists and turns keep us on our toes making this Cinderella story go down as one of the best. His Wicked Wish is one of the Cinderella Sisterhood series and each one is as delightful as the one before. If you enjoy historical romance with a bit of a twist, His Wicked Wish by is perfect for you.

Madelyn Swann has decided to quite acting, and decides to auction off her Virginity off to a selected few patrons. She is approached by Nathan Atwood, who just returned from China after 10 years because he believes his father has died. Nathan instead learns that his brother and fathers heir is dead and his father lived... Surprise your his heir! He decides to get revenge by finding the most inappropriate bride and install in his father's house before he leaves China for good. Nathan's godmother sends him to Maddy's way and he decides to enter the competition. Maddy accepts bid and is surprised when he proposes and explains his expectation for the marriage. How does this complicated regency fairy tale end? Read and find out! This was an entertaining book that was both original retelling of the Cinderella myth and a fun historical romance. The story held my attention and I appreciated the fresh take on the desperate actress meets bad boy. This is a great historical romance that will leave you smiling! I was given a free copy for a honest review..

Nathan has returned from China after 10 years because his estranged father is dying. He soon learns that his brother has died and not his Father and he is now the heir. He decides to seek a little revenge on his father and plans to marry someone who will be an embarrassment to his family and then plans to leave England. His godmother suggests Maddy and when they meet Maddy agrees to go along with his plan. As she begins to play the role of Nathan’s wife she realizes she has feelings for him, does he feel the same? This is a sweet and funny read. The story held my interest throughout and the chemistry between Maddy and Nathan is great. Loved it!

Nathan (Nate) Atwood has arrived at his godmother, Lady Milford’s home after a long absence. After many years living in China, Nate has returned to England after receiving a letter from Lady Milford notifying him that his estranged father was dying. Nate is the second son of the Earl of Gilmore. The Earl has always been a harsh man whom Nate found difficult to obey. But his older brother, and heir, had always behaved and did as his father said. Thus, Nate left England at the age of 21 to seek his own way and his own fortune. Now, he has achieved his goal. David, age 33, is the new Earl and their sister, Emily is 19 and poised to make her debut soon. When Nate arrives back in England, he finds that his father has recovered from his illness, but his brother contracted the same disease and died. Nate is now Viscount Rowley and his father’s heir. In addition, Nate finds that his brother had been married and the father of two girls. As much as he wants to immediately return to China, he decides to stay and take revenge on his father. To that end, he plans to marry the lowest class woman he can find and leave her with his father as he returns to China. Although his godmother is aghast at his plan, she insists on helping him choose his bride. Madelyn (Maddy) Swann, age 24, has been an actress all of her life, most of which has been spent in the Covent Garden theater. Now, she has decided to leave her acting life behind. Truthfully, Maddy is the granddaughter to the Duke of Houghton, and Alfred Langley, Lord Dunham, is her cousin and heir to the Duke of Houghton. Her mother has been disowned by her father, the Duke, when she married an actor. When Langley tries to accost her, Maddy is thankful that Lady Milford intervenes and rescues her. As Maddy plans to hold an auction offering herself as the prize, Lady Milford suggests she choose her godson, Viscount Rowley. Her original plan was to choose someone willing to compensate her with enough funds to start a new life without asking more from her. Her dream has always been to open a lady’s store that offers clothes, hats, and all things needed to dress a woman from head to toe. Lady Milford gifts Maddy with a pair of beautiful red shoes which she loves and agrees to wear when she receives Nate’s bid. Nate offers to marry Maddy and make her Lady Rowley. He tells her that she must tolerate him for 3 months then he will leave England never to return. In addition, she will become Countess Gilmore upon the death of his father. He requests that she act as coarse as possible to irritate his father even more which will enact his revenge on the man. Maddy realizes that after a few months of playing this role, she will have enough money to open her dress shop, so she agrees. The resulting interaction with Nate’s family is humorous and Maddy’s “revenge” on her grandfather is touching. This is a delightful novel not to be missed. I enjoyed it very much and know others will as well. Very well-developed characters. Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 'His Wicked Wish' by Olivia Drake is book five in the "Cinderella Sisterhood". This is the story of Madelyn Swann and Nathan Atwood, Viscount Rowley. I have loved this series...but I have been jumping around in the books so I did feel this was a standalone book.. Maddy has grown up in the acting world since she was little. Her mother was and actually Lady of the town but fell in love with a commoner so she was disinherited. Maddy parents died when she was young... so Maddy has been on her own with the acting crew. Now Maddy has wanted to get off the acting grew and open a shop/business. To do so she decided to get a 'protector' and offered herself for the highest price. Nathan has come back from being gone for a long time. Nathan was under the impression his father has died. Nathan has never gotten along with his father and was not sad to hear the news. But when he went first to his godmothers house he learns his dad is alive but it was his brother that had died. Now Nathan is his heir. So Nathan thinks for revenge he will marry a unsuitable women who will embarrass his father.
