How Philosophers Saved Myths: Allegorical Interpretation and Classical Mythology

This study explains how the myths of Greece and Rome were transmitted from antiquity to the Renaissance. Luc Brisson argues that philosophy was ironically responsible for saving myth from historical annihilation.
