5 Star Review of How To Choose a Guy in 10 Days (Chick Flick Club #1) by Lila Monroe   This is book one in an exciting new series from Lila Monroe and in my opinion she is off to a flying start. This is an enemies to lovers story and Lila Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun, quirky and oh so entertaining read. I loved Gemma, such kind and caring woman who goes out of her way to support to all who need her. Gemma and Zach are neighbours and when Gemma seeks his assistance to gain a promotion at work, the sparks fly. Initially Zach refuses but after reconsidering he decides to allow Gemma to make him over. This is the start of a fantastic story that will have you laughing out loud as well as cringing at times. This is an excellent example of Romantic Comedy at it’s finest and I recommend you one click ASAP, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Looking forward to more in the series.

Fresh, young, flirty and fun - enjoyed every minute of this book. Loved the plot, the pacing, the humor, and the characters (a self-aware, positive, HAPPY female is always awesome!). Nice light touch, too. Needs an editor to clean up the grammar and occasional typos, or it'd be a 5-star read. Yippeee! Looking forward to many more great reads from this author. ~~

Romantic comedies aren't easy to write. You have to have a keen sense of humor and the ability to twist the normal into the abnormal and back again. Lila Monroe can do it and does it well. The characters are fun, the pretense is tried and true with a twist. We get into the heads of the hero and heroine and see how they reason out their situations. The chemistry is there from before we meet them, but the explosions that chemistry creates keep it moving and keep us laughing. The fact that the book's title sounds like a remake of a popular movie might be a put-off to some readers, but don't let that stop you from reading it. It's sweet, funny, and well done. A definite candidate for my best of 2018. Rating: 5 stars **Tangled Hearts Book Reviews received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review. Three and a half stars. Gemma Jones works for a fashion company that helps clients change their image. In her spare time she also donates time to helping women at a shelter find clothes for job interviews. When a big new promotion is on the table at work her boss gets Gemma and her arch-rival to do a make-over on an unsuspecting male to turn him from disaster to GQ-ready. Her nemesis chooses Gemma's Bigfoot next door neighbour, the sort of guy who wears shorts and flip-flops all day long, eats cereal for lunch and plays computer games all day. The only catch? Gemma can't tell Bigfoot about the competition. Zach Morrison sold his tech start up company for millions, just days after his divorce was finalised, now he's enjoying cutting loose and relaxing, so what if that involves lots of ladies and not shaving or getting dressed or buying furniture for his apartment? Okay maybe he has taken things too far. Zach reluctantly agrees to help Gemma but as they work together they discover they made some wild assumptions about each other. I liked this but it was overly predictable. Of course Gemma is too shallow to see beyond the shaggy beard to the man beneath. Of course Zach is a millionaire but lives like a slob. Of course keeping the competition a secret from Zach is a bad idea. It was all a bit Pretty Woman except Zach got the makeover and he was a millionaire. I think this is perfect beach reading, light-hearted and fun, easy to pick up.

How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days by Lila Monroe is the first book in her brand new series, Chick Flick Club . A Series of romantic comedies surrounding a close group of friends who spend some quality time watching, you guessed it, chick flicks. Told in dual POV, this is the story of Gemma and Bigfoot, also known as Zach, her jerk neighbor. Gemma is a stylist who has been offered a promotion. One caveat, it's a competition between her and her catty co-worker. Her job is to improve the Bigfoot lumberjack of a next door neighbor in the next ten days. Her promotion depends upon it. If only he would stop slamming the door in her face... Zach has been living like a college frat boy for a while now and he's fine with it. Why his neighbor won't leave him alone is another problem. But it turns out he isn't as annoyed by her as he thought. Besides it's about time he found out who he really is when he isn't hiding behind his frat boy behavior and actually starts adulting for once. Funny, sweet, romantic and sexy this is yet another smash hit from one of my favorite authors. The secondary characters are wonderful and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, You've Got Male. Enjoy!

4.5 stars I really enjoyed this rather different story which gave me a few laughs and was fun to read too! I really liked the characters especially Gemma and her friends, the banter was rather witty and really true to a girls night and support they give each other! Zach! Gemma had some rather endearing names for her neighbor! He was certainly different but also a genuine guy, underneath it all and his best friends, well I really loved them!! Ah what a refreshing story! I thought the way the storyline went was great but I just knew due to Zachs past, something was going to happen! I rather liked the way Gemma tackled her job, she was a caring person who wanted only whats best for her clients and it certainly showed! A really great, feel good story!

Once again, another classic from Lila Monroe. Aside from the interesting story (make over a guy in 10 days, aka BigFoot), I completely fell in love with the characters, their interaction, and the changes that come over them. Not to mention the legit laugh out loud moments. I will ALWAYS read Lila’s books for the fact that aside from good stories with lots of heart, she makes me just burst into laughter, no matter where I am. Can’t wait for more!!!

Absolutely wonderful, a delightful mix of funny, steamy and emotional If you love a warm, witty and well written tale of love then you need look no further than this. How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days drew me in from the first chapter and held my attention through out. The book is written 1st person and I really liked that there were chapters from Zach's view point, allowing us to really get to know him as a character. They say never judge a book by it's cover, and that analogy was true for Zach. He appeared to be a selfish, man-whore of a slob, but as we got to know and understand him, there was a real diamond hidden under the layers of neglect. A very gentle soul who just needed to be guided back into life. Gemma was strong but still sweet and very caring. Both her and Zach were immensely likeable and believable characters. I really believed in their connection, despite the short time period there were enough interactions, conversations and events for it to feel very real. The resolution was perhaps a little hurried, the idea's were brilliant but I would have loved to experience some of them from Zach's perspective, even if only briefly. However this didn't detract from my enjoyment of what is a really entertaining story and one that is very worth reading.

Hairy Bigfoot meets the sweet, charitable fashionista! Gemma has worked hard at her job as a fashion consultant and when a big promotion comes up at her company she’s all in. Only one problem. There’s one job and two contenders. Gemma and her nemesis, Arielle. Both want the position and are willing to do anything to get it. They decide to make a bet. Each will choose a man for the other to make over. Gemma picks a surly delivery guy for Arielle, but is dismayed when her colleague chooses the man she has to improve. Because he’s not simply a stranger like the delivery guy. Oh no. Gemma knows him. He lives in the apartment across the hall from her and he’s the very definition of the neighbor from hell. This is going to take all of Gemma’s self-control and she hasn’t even asked him yet. Zach has lived alone for a while now, he’s had plenty of down time and makes uses of it. Games, loud music, booze and willing women have kept him happy ever since he and his ex split up. He’s not looking to get tied down or play nice with his annoying neighbor. But when she offers to help straighten out him and his messy apartment he finds himself agreeing. He didn’t know it would only take 10 days to become a different man, but Gemma worked a magic wand and he fell, fast and hard. This was a fun, hot and steamy read with plenty of laughs along the way. They secondary characters had a big part of the story too but not in an intrusive way. It was nice meeting them and of course anticipating their upcoming stories as well.

Every single time I start reading a Lila Monroe book, I know I’m going to not only enjoy it, but think about it well after I’ve finished. Every. Single. Time. And her latest romcom, How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days, showcases the exact reasons as to why I love her books! Fun, flirty, with the perfect amount of humor and sexual tension, this book’s enticing storyline and unforgettable characters make it not only entertaining but heartwarmingly romantic! After the very brief glimpse of HTCAGITD we get at the end of Man Candy, I couldn’t WAIT to read it! Gemma and Zach’s quirky and antagonistic neighborly “relationship” was just downright delightful. Their combative banter and seemingly polar opposite lifestyles infuse the story with wit and playfulness. The energetic connection between them sparks off the pages, eliciting a powerful intrigue and intimacy that thoroughly engages the reader from start to finish. And the transformation their relationship takes from enemies to friends to lovers was entirely smooth and seamless, matching the progression of the storyline flawlessly. This fresh and lively new Chick Flick Club Series is one I’m super excited to continue reading! If the next books in the series are even remotely as fantastic as How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days, then I know I’m in for an entertaining and laugh-out-loud treat. If you’re new to Lila Monroe’s books, then there’s never been a better time to start reading than NOW! A definite 5 star must read that does not disappoint!

How To Choose a Guy in 10 Days is the start of Lila Monroe’s new rom-com series. This novella is absolutely adorable! The characters are lovable and the story line is pure fun. Stylist Gemma Jones just barely tolerates her loud, burly neighbor whom she has dubbed Big Foot. When she and her co-worker enter into a bet that will determine the fate of their careers, she is inadvertently saddled with convincing “Big Foot’ to allow her to give him a lifestyle overhaul. Big Foot’s real name is Zach Morrison; he is a one-time programmer and entrepreneur who hit it big when he sold his company. Since he is hiding away from life and sulking about his failed marriage, his personal appearance has taken a backseat to gaming. Agreeing to Gemma’s offer for a makeover gives him the opportunity to give her a hard time. However, when these two get started, the chemistry can’t be denied. Gemma and Zach are fantastic characters. Author Lila Monroe has a knack for creating genuine characters and building in organic dialogue that draws readers into the story. The flow and pace of the story are perfect, and as Gemma begins to see that Zach is truly a great guy, Zach starts to realize how mired in the mud he’d become after his judgmental ex-wife left him. Naturally, the ex-wife provides a little angst, and added to that is the secret bet that Gemma has entered into. While it is easy to see where the storyline is going, the journey to the HEA is great. How To Choose a Guy in 10 Days is light, escapism at its best.

Chick Flick Club Oh how I love this first book in the new series! Every gal needs their own chick flick club and tribe of friends that have your back and will help bury the bodies! This story is about Gemma (who we met briefly in Man Candy) and Zach. Gemma is such a sweetheart, always seeing the positive, but don't take that as weakness! She is strong and loyal and will fight with the best of them. She loves her friends and she tolerates her "Bigfoot" neighbor Zach, at least in the beginning. Zach is recovering from his ex and is embracing his single life by living like he was in college. He kicks cleanliness and personal grooming to the wayside and embraces his nickname that Gemma bestows on him. He thinks he is over his ex, but is he? Read and see! I love the humor in Ms. Monroe's stories! They are outrageously funny! Add to that the romance and off the charts steaminess and you get one helluva story! Underneath all the hair and sloppiness of Zach beats the heart of a true romantic and with the help of Gemma, he finds it again. The secondary characters are phenomenal and bring such humor and levity to the story! I cannot wait to see what comes of them as each new story comes out! If you haven't read Lila Monroe, what in the heck are you waiting for?!? Go now and get this book, the start of her new series and I can guarantee you will be reading all of her books! I am!

I love love love Zach and Gemma! The Chick Flick Club are an awesome bunch of ladies. I love how they support and antagonize each other. Having met Zach and Gemma in a previous Lila Monroe books, I was hoping to see more Zach. He and Gemma irritated each other too much to ignore. Zach, the tech nerd, who with his partner sells their company, lives across the hall from Gemma, stylist extraordinaire. She sees him as this awkward, hairy, Bigfoot, but he’s the perfect solution to getting the promotion she’s after. After Zach agrees to her total makeover offer, they both begin to see each other differently. Gemma’s totally focused on her job, and doesn’t have time for a relationship. Besides, her and Zach hate each other...don’t they? I love how this story unfolds. Zach and Gemma both have their own baggage, and it does affect how they feel about relationships. Lila does a great job with rom-coms. Both Zach and Gemma’s friends deserve their own books, and I can’t wait to see who’s next.

Another great RomCom from Lila Monroe. This is the start of a new series spinning off of Lila Monroe’s Man Candy. The book centers around three friends, Gemma, Zoey and Eve. This is Gemma’s story. Gemma is working as a stylist for an up and coming company. Her company is expanding and Gemma and her rival at the company are competing for a promotion. They set up a bet to see who will win the promotion. The bet, make over a mess of a man, that the other one chooses. Whoever does a better job, wins the promotion. Gemma’s rival picks Zach, Gemma’s neighbor. Zach is a tall, hairy, slob of a man, who happens to be a manwhore. This is the setup for a fun update on My Fair Lady/Pygmalion, where the artist falls in love with their creation.

This first Chick Flick Club book is everything I've come to expect from Lila Monroe. It's witty, fun, lighthearted, and sexy. Zach and Gemma are good together even when they're butting heads and exchanging barbs as neighbors, making it easy to see them together from the beginning. We get lots of amusing, silly, and even over the top situations with plenty of similarities to some memorable chick flick scenes. One of the things that stands out for me is how engaging all the characters are. Not just our main couple in this romance, but the secondary characters as well. All in all, this one is a promising start to an entertaining series.
