Hunting JC by Dominique Eastwick

Hunter Brooks spent the last decade staying as far away from the Sherman family and Jacinda Sherman as possible. No matter how much Hunter might want Jacinda, honor dictates a man doesn’t go near a best friend's baby sister. But now, she is safely married so all should be safe. Can Hunter pay J.C.'s price and still come out on top?

Her whole life, Jacinda Sherman let everyone tell her what she can and cannot have. That includes Hunter. Now she's grown up, divorced, and what J.C. wants J.C. gets. This time, Hunter won't be leaving without J.C. getting what she desires.

Can these two lovers find a way to live happily ever after? Or will life throw a wrench in their carefully laid plans?

Sounds like a contradiction, yet in this case it isn't. The romance is very sweet and well-developed, but the love scenes, while graphic, never took over the plot. In an unusual twist, the pair is married in the middle of the book (not the end or beginning, which are more common). The HEA was already there, since the main conflicts seemed to be resolved, but, as in real life, true lovers still have issues and baggage. Even HEAs have their bumps, though we rarely get to read about them. And what bumps! The second half of the book totally sucked me in.

JC has wanted Hunter since she discovered boys. With a failed marriage behind her she's not letting anything stand in her way. Hunter has been attracted to JC since he became friends with her brother. Age difference and his friendships with her family and brothers have always kept him away. When these two come together, hold on to your ereader with care, because you will get burned! Wow the connection between Hunter and JC is nothing short of scorching. The characters are formed and developed to perfection. The storyline flows and is exciting, sad, heart wrenching, funny and sweet all rolled into a fantastic romance. There were a couple of places the story lagged just a little bit for me, but then it would pick right back up and flow seamlessly. The situations are believable and you can't help but get carried away with the characters. This was a great read. Received a copy for an honest review.

Sweet heaven that was good. I was up late into the night because I couldn’t put it down. Hunting JC is the first in the Sherman Family Series. They are a family of four brothers and one baby sister. I’m not sure where this series is going, but I’ll be along for the ride! Jacinda is a new woman. Mostly her changes aren’t what she desired, but what’s done is done and now that she is divorced, she is going to go after the man she has always wanted – Hunter Brooks. With her new looks, new body and new attitude, Hunter doesn’t stand a chance. It’s been awhile since he has visited his adopted family, the Sherman’s. He may not be an actual part of the family, but they have never made him feel left out or unloved. Now that his career is soaring and Jacinda is married, he feels it’s safe to return to the fold. Hunter is in for more than one shock. Back and forth and up and down, that is the course of this relationship. These two have always had feelings for each other and now is the time to figure out if they can make it work. The problem is their pasts and the Sherman family members keep getting in the way. It is a long road, filled with many potholes, but it is a journey well worth it. The matters of the heart are profoundly written and the whole direction of Hunting JC is fresh. No normal templates are followed here. Ms. Eastwick has mixed things up and I loved every bit of it. The characters seemed so very real. They have a down home feeling to them and they make you forget that they are obscenely rich but people with real feelings and real issues. The love they have for each other jumps off the page and it made me all gooey inside. Ms. Eastwick made them genuine and relatable. While this may be considered an erotic romance, the timid need not be overly nervous. The love making scenes are in context and they are not filled with graphic rough language, that tends to turn some people off (not me BTW). They felt organic, heart pounding, amazing, and stole my breath away.  Hunting JC was amazingly constructed, with romance that could be savored and easily fantasized, characters that you wanted to know and a plot that had a touch of mystery and tons of emotion. I loved it and I can’t wait to read the next in the series Tony’s Haven!!

So right off the bat you have to love the adopted family dynamic.  You get enough back story and interaction that you practically feel a part of it.  What I love about JC in particular is that she knows what she wants and goes after it fairly ruthlessly.  Hunter has always been loyal to his friend, Tony, who is one of JC’s brothers, but with her behavior, he’s toast.  It’s a good thing we got all that back story though, because without it their initial encounters just wouldn’t be believable.  As it is, it still feels a tad rushed. This story was predictable in places (though let’s face it, what story isn’t to some degree these days?), but there were still some twists and turns thrown in there.  The story and the relationship started out a little two-dimensional for me, but it picks up and once it does, it never lets go.  It turns into a bit of a tear jerker in fact as obstacle after obstacle is set in front of Hunter and JC and they go through so much turmoil. A book with such emotional investment that I cried more than once as well as laughed, Hunting JC is a beautiful story about self-confidence, learning to truly love and trust, and the bonds of family.  You will NOT be disappointed with picking this one up!  I can’t wait to read Tony’s story.

Really a 4.5 a good introduction to the Sherman Family. This one is a rollercoaster of a ride. Tony's Haven is a most read follow up.
