She can lose her birthright, but not her heart!
Meredith Clark wants no part of her long-ago identity as Rosemary Randall. She's created a more exciting life as the courtesan, Calista, and her newest lover is both intriguing and rugged enough to capture her fancy. But the widowed Earl of Grayling craves more than this woman's dazzling intelligence and fiery passion. He wants her as his mistress, and if she won't agree to that, he'll settle for taking her home as his daughters' governess. Determined never to be tied down to one person or place, Meredith prepares to run again. Yet something deep inside her yearns to stay -- until she discovers Constantine's real identity. Now she's faced with the hardest choice of her life. Should she trust the man she's coming to love with the secrets of her past, or flee to save them both from an even greater heartbreak?

If you are looking for the typical Regency Romance this book will not be for you. However, if you are looking for something fresh and compelling with well-developed mulit-layered character then look no farther. The heroine has a sordid past and dark family secrets that burden her and the hero is haunted, not literally, by the ghost of his first wife. When Rosemary and Grayling meet the spark is nothing short of explosive. Yet it is not just the chemistry between them that draw these two together-it is their wounded souls. This truly is a story about two people who need the love of the other one to heal. I highly recommend this book!
First, let me say, this is a good story. Well developed characters, rich description of background and situations. That being said, it deals with difficult subject matter and does not have your typical "virginal" heroine. The leading lady (who has several aliases in the book) is a prostitute and has been for some time but when Constantine comes to the brothel she currently works at, she is smitten... I will not go into too much else about how the story unfolds as you can get that from the book's description but I will say that this one is definitely worth your time. This book is part of a series but is easily a stand alone read.
