About the Author
I love writing authentic, passionate and emotional love stories. I began my first novel, a historical, when I was sixteen, but life derailed me a bit when I started suffering with Ankylosing Spondylitis, so I didn’t complete a novel until after I was thirty when I put it on my to do before I’m forty list. Now I love getting caught up in the lives and traumas of my characters, and I’m so thrilled to be giving my characters life in others’ imaginations.

when I first read I Found You I knew she was bipolar. my birth mother suffers from it. it's hard to be around her, and this book took me back to places I had forgotten. it was a beautiful raw and great book.... and this one, I'm Keeping You, did not let me down... im so glad we got to follow up on Rachel and Jason. the struggles they both went thru. it was real, real life, and believable! so many stories with plots that are hard to believe. but these 3 stories are perfect and I love them and will cherish them. I'm Keeping You shared the struggles rachel was still fighting with meds and trying to be a the best mom. and Jason trying to be strong and centered at all times. I felt the characters pain, agony, joy, and love. it was so well written. Def read the first 2 so you know what's going on. I love thsee books. it was perfect!!!
When I cracked open I Need You by Jane Lark I was immediately sucked in by Lindy and the emotional mess she was. She had some REAL problems that needed to be addressed before she was ever going to be "okay". The author did a great job of putting you in Lindy's head as she fought to figure out why her life was falling apart. It seemed like I could do it in one word, Jason. But as the story moved on you realized Jason was part of it, but Lindy had a lot of demons she was fighting that didn't have anything to do with him. Then there was Billy. Billy had carried a torch for Lindy for a thousand years, from the time they were in high school, through college when she was with Jason and then through her breakup with Jason. Billy was persistent, if nothing else, though sometimes I thought he was just Lindy's punching bag. He took the hit though and taught her the things she needed to learn in order to survive in this cruel world. As the story progresses the author lets you in on the rest of Lindy's life in bits and pieces until you suddenly see the whole picture and understand why Lindy is like she is and at the same time why Billy is so enamored with her. There is something about her that only Billy can understand, calm down and at the same time bring out the best in her. He has a way of making her see herself in a different way than Jason or anyone else ever could. Dare you say that is why he is her soulmate. I loved this story for the determination of Billy and the perseverance of Lindy. The supporting cast of characters made the story that much more intriguing and enticing. I gave this book five stars because all in all it was a five star read, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the extensive amount of sex in it. Though some of it was necessary for Lindy to understand that she wasn't undesirable it did become distracting after awhile. I know that is the new adult genre, however, so I let it go. Also, while this story took place in the US all the lingo and terminology was from the UK and many parts of the story left you wondering just exactly where the story was taking place because those of us in the States wouldn't use those terms or speak that way. Those were the only two things I found that just didn't fit into the feel of the story, but felt it was necessary to mention them for those who are hung up by that. I loved Lindy and Billy's story and didn't need to read the first book, I Found You, to follow it, though I will be going back and reading that one now to better understand Lindy and Jason's story. If you're looking for a well written, gritty, emotional new adult romance then I Need You is going to keep you sucked in and reading late into the night. I give I Need You 5 cups of very hot 'I want you" coffee!
A stunning addition to the ‘Starting Out’ Series. Billy and Lindy’s story will have you tearing up and smiling! I am a huge fan of this series by Jane Lark, as every time she introduces us to a new couple, and the struggles they face to be together, I always connect with them so deeply, and really root for them to get their happy ending. Billy and Lindy’s journey was a really exciting one for me as a reader as getting to know the girl who at one point was the nemesis to Rachel, a character I had grown to care for, I was intrigued to see how Lindy justified her hurtful actions. Jane Lark portrayed Lindy to perfection! I loved getting inside her mind and seeing the real damage she hid behind the seemingly perfect, snobby girl who I’d greatly disliked in ‘I Found You’. Billy and Lindy’s relationship was really beautiful to witness. Getting to see Lindy come out of her shell, confide in someone, and finally begin to love herself and her body was heartwarming. From seeing the Lindy’s lack of self-confidence at the beginning of the novel the transformation she made was inspiring, and I think will resonate with many young readers who find it difficult to see their true beauty. Billy was another swoon worthy hero given to us by Jane Lark, and I loved him from the get go. I was really pleased to see that he and Jason had repaired their relationship, and how he felt strongly enough about Lindy to berate Jason for letting Lindy’s self-doubt fester for so many years. This was a heartwarming tale which sees the once unlikable Lindy in a new light, and tells the story of her blossoming under Billy’s love, which will make you laugh, smile and cry in equal measure. 5 Stars!
I quite enjoyed Jane Lark’s novel I Need You. I hadn’t read the first two books of the series, however, it didn’t damper my reading enjoyment, as Lark did a great job in writing the storyline. I Need You is definitely not your typical romance novel as it takes a twist and surprising but entertaining turn. I really enjoyed the character Billy, as he lusted after his best friends girlfriend for years, not doing anything until after they broke up. I wasn’t totally in love with Lindy as I found her annoying at times, however, her innocence and lack of self confidence, makes her seem real. Young women are faced with body issues and this unrealistic expectation of how sex should be and Lark did a fantastic job of exploiting the expectations. Lark used wit to make the book entertaining for the readers and I often found myself laughing out loud. The sex scenes were very steamy and were hot, hot, hot. I definitely recommend I Need You by Jane Lark to be added to your To-Be-Read Shelf.
4.5 Heartfelt stars Favorite Quotes: “You know we could cry over all the years we don’t have, or we can smile and be glad for all the years we have had, and all the things we’ve done.” “She’d looked at me in a different way, as I treaded on nails and eggshells, trying not to break anything, but let this be what it should be, and hoping the music that I heard playing between us would start playing in her head too.” “It’s like you are in my blood, flowing around in my veins, and you make my bones ache when I’m around you and when I am not around you I have a hole in my belly that want to be with you. “ My Review: Jane Lark’s Starting Out series wove an intricate and nuanced patchwork through the lives of three different young couples, as they are starting out in their lives, loves, and careers. Each book contained interesting characters that were struggling yet doing the best they could in uncomfortable and unfortunate situations. I didn’t expect to care so deeply for all of them, but I found that even the more unlikable characters, had a reason to be that way. Ms. Lark’s storytelling is rather melancholy and heart rendering. Each tale involves an epic love that is emotive, moving, and poignant.
