In Bed with the Bachelor by Megan Crane

Our latest bachelor has enough family in Marietta to qualify as an honorary native, but hails instead from Seattle, WA, which is where he'll fly you for a glamorous weekend on the shores of the sparkling Puget Sound. Jesse Grey will treat you the way a local boy turned construction tycoon should: five star accommodations, gourmet dinners, and celebrated Washington wines. We just can't promise he'll smile much. Or at all.

Sold to the highest bidder!

Jesse Grey, notorious bachelor and one of Seattle's foremost construction tycoons, has been roped into participating in the Marietta Bachelor Auction thanks to an expertly executed guilt trip laid out by his family.

Michaela Townsend already has a fiancé and certainly doesn't need another man in her life. So when her family buys her surly, sexy Jesse at the auction and wrangles him into driving her from Montana to Seattle, she's appalled yet disturbingly attracted.

As far as Jesse is concerned, Michaela is forbidden fruit. Even though he knows her fiancé isn't all he seems, Jesse would never take what didn't belong to him. But how long can he resist the one woman he shouldn't touch?

Jesse Grey is wealthy and gorgeous, but he has a chip on his shoulder the size of Montana. Michaela's family wins him in the bachelor auction. They give Jesse to her as a bridal shower gift. She asks him to help her fiancée who has had a run of bad luck. Jesse and Michaela make an interesting couple. Both are successful in business but they both had painful secrets. When they are stranded by a blizzard, they find it difficult to fight their powerful attraction. The fact that they are together in one room increases the temptation. However, Jesse will not become her lover. He won't poach another man's woman. I understood his reason but I wanted him to stop running and face his past. I didn't understand why Michaela was willing to stay with a man who wanted an 'open' relationship and didn't appreciate her. It was interesting to watch Jesse realize that his issues with his father needed to be resolved and did what needed to be done. Megan Crane writes with heart and emotion. I love that her characters have flaws and problems just as we all do.

The Bachelor series continues with the story of Jesse and Michaela. Jesse a construction tycoon, nephew of town saloon owner is put on the auction block by his family. Michaela is in town for her bridal shower, and her family bids on Jesse. Michaela is in an open relationship with her fiance, which her family does not approve of. Jesse agrees to drive Michaela from Montana to Seattle, they get stuck in a snowstorm for two nights, and the motel only has one bed. Will sparks ignite between these two. I was provided a copy from Net Galley for an honest review. This was an enjoyable read. I have really enjoyed the Bachelor series, all single stories with this one common thread.

In Bed with the Bachelor is book #5 in the Bachelor Auction series by Tule Publishing and is a quick read. Jesse Grey is another bachelor roped into participating in the bachelor auction. Jesse is a sexy, rich man in construction. Michaela Townsend's family bids and wins Jesse for her even though she has a fiance' Trevor. There is an instant attraction between Jesse and Michaela, but what can they do about it? Read the book to find out what happens.  I receive an ARC from the publisher for a honest review.

Jesse and Michaela have an instant attraction upon meeting each other. That would be all great, but Michaela is engaged to be married. But no fear, Michaela and her fiance have an open relationship. Though Michaela has never acted upon this freedom she has. The attraction is so strong, it leaves them breathless, and acting awkward. Lots of thoughts and battles are fought in their minds, and the inner reflections, constant flow of thoughts just gets convoluted. In principle, the idea of the story, the study between the traditional relationship with commitment, and open, free relationship is fascinating. I know exactly where I sit on that fence, but the plot and the idea were original. Michaela comes off so defensive of her relationship, somewhat naive when it comes to her fiance's behavior, or is it just denial, but if it is, why does she have a need for it? Jesse is hurting from his past, from the betrayal of his father and ex-girlfriend. He comes off a little arrogant. I felt it was really difficult to connect with them, Michaela especially. I didn't find her very likeable, or charming. We learn so much about the characters, their inner thoughts, their development as a person - and all that is great. But there's no much room for the development of the relationship, and their feelings, so the ending seemed rushed and slightly off. Overall, the story left me breathless and wondering what just happened. But if a story makes you think, hasn't it reached its point? ~ Three Spoons

Great addition to the Bachelor Auction series. I’ve enjoyed other books in this series so was looking forward to reading this one,too - and I wasn’t disappointed! The whole series is about a bachelor auction to raise funds to help a child with his medical treatment and life. In this instance, the bachelor being auctioned, Jesse Grey, isn’t actually from Marietta though he does have several family members living there - hence how he came to participate, they volunteered and dared him to do so! He’s a local boy who became a construction tycoon and is now based in Seattle. He is offering a glamorous weekend there for whoever buys him. Wait till you read what happened to him when he brought his girlfriend home for Christmas! Michaela Townsend is visiting her family when the auction takes place - and they buy Jesse for her! She already lives in Seattle, has a fiancé and certainly wasn’t anticipating this. She is appalled, tongue tied and really attracted when she actually meets Jesse - and the attraction is mutual! He doesn’t believe in cheating and she’s never been tempted before. She is, however, questioning her relationships in general and journeying home through a snowstorm, having to take refuge in a motel en route, sharing a  room - even if the bed is king size - will test them both. The characters are believable, their turmoil at their mutual attraction heart wrenching and the story is a great read. I have no hesitation in recommending this - and other books in the series - to anyone who enjoys a realistic great romance to escape into. Thanks to the author and publishers, too, for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book tells the story of Michaela and Jesse. Michaela "wins" Jesse in the bachelor auction in Marietta courtesy of her well meaning friends no family, who don't approve of her current relationship. The prize is a date in Seattle with Jesse, which just happens to be where Michaela lives. Jesse and Michaela end up riding back to Seattle together be get stuck in a storm. They have a hard time fighting their attraction but struggle with doing the right thing (Michaela is engaged). Can they figure things out and find their own happily ever after? This book has a slightly different feel than the other bachelor books, maybe because a lot of it doesn't take place in Marietta. This is a great series and I am looking forward to reading the last Bachelor book.

Bachelor #5 in Marietta'a Bachelor Auction, Jesse Grey has made his life and fortune in Seattle, but a trip to Marietta to visit family gets him roped, unhappily, into the Bachelor Auction. His date offer is amazing and any woman would be excited to have it. Except, Michaela Townsend, who is also in Marietta from Seattle, visiting her family. Her family takes her to the Auction at Grey's for her "Bachelorette Party," then pools their money to purchase successful Jesse Grey, thinking that he would be the perfect person to help her fiance get past his latest career bump. Michaela really doesn't need the complication of this very beautiful man in her life. Jesse is very familiar with Michaela's fiance and has no use or respect for him. He also has a hard and fast rule to never mess with a woman involved with someone else. When the families arrange to have them try to drive back to Seattle together, they still get stuck in the snowstorm. Enforced time together furthers their attraction and gives them a chance to get to know each other and realize how well they would mesh. Unfortunately, there is still the fiance to consider. I had a hard time understanding how Michaela could be so smart everywhere else but so snowed by her fiance. It took meeting Jesse and his questioning and honesty to make her realize what was going on. Jesse wasn't always the nicest guy either, so it was a little tougher to like these characters, who were extremely well-developed. By the end, I liked and respected both and was satisfied with the way the story wrapped up.

In Bed With The Bachelor is a unique novella in the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series.   Michaela has a fiance, and their relationship is slightly different than most.  I got the impression while I was reading that Michaela was saying one thing but feeling another in regards to their relationship, and she didn't seem over the  moon happy for an engaged woman.  She tries to come across as very matter of fact and open.  I had a difficult time connecting with Michaela...I just never felt like I understood her or had a clear picture of what brought her to where she is today.   Michaela feels things she isn't used to feeling when she's around Jesse, even if he is 'surly'.  Jesse finds himself feeling things for Michaela that he does not want to feel for a woman, especially a woman who is engaged.  He's used to women seeing only his money, and most of all he doesn't want to be like his father.  He doesn't want to feel or try again after having one relationship turn out so badly.  So he tries to make himself very unapproachable. The chemistry between them is lurking though and when they find themselves in a situation where they can't ignore it, what then?  I liked how they both said what was on their minds, they didn't hide much.  However, I never really felt the intense connection a couple has between them besides the chemistry.  On the outside they both have such different views on relationships that it was interesting to see where they'd go with this.  In the span of this novella, these characters did grow and develop a lot.  I also liked the family dynamics that Megan brings in to this story and how it is dealt with. In Bed With The Bachelor is a very appropriate title you will see when you read this entertaining novella.  I like the theme of this series and how they can all be read in any order without giving away anything from the other novellas.  In Bed With The Bachelor presents a different view and I'd recommend it to romance readers who enjoy a quick, entertaining read.

A wild roller coaster ride of a story. It was the night of Maietta’s charity bachelor auction and Michaela Townsend’s family pooled their money together to buy Jesse Grey for Michaela as a bridal shower gift. She’s not sure how to handle this strange situation they have put her in. He was the most beautiful man she had ever laid eyes on in person. She shouldn’t be feeling this way when she is engaged to be married. The date was supposed to be a night out on the town in Seattle. But, Michaela’s aunts figure she can use Jesse to help point her fiance Terrence in a better direction after a weird hotel situation ten months ago. It was during the drive from Mareitta to Seattle that everything changed. Caught in a blizzard and forced to stay in a hotel room together. Michaela starts seeing Jesse in a new light and questioning her relationship with Terrence. Will Michaela be able to stay faithful to her fiancé or will she let Jesse’s words change her mind about everything? Can Jesse stick to his rule of never touching another man’s woman? I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters and their backgrounds were written very well.

Check out Megan Crane's story to understand the bases for this quote!! “I don't believe in open relationships,” Jesse told her, very seriously. “I believe in hard boundaries and kept promises. I believe in so many ties to each other you can't breathe, and then a few more. I believe in deep, dark, messy, irrational love that lasts forever, works itself out in bed, and never, ever invites anybody else to the party. Or I don't see the point.”
