Was looking for something easy and fun. This filled the bill nicely. Quick read with some interesting fae/vamp twists. And Link! What a fun idea he is! Talk about a secret weapon! The MC is a different sort, not some kick azz take no names type, so at times you wanted her to be more, but then again, between her friends, enemies and Link, not sure she needed to be more. Hopefully she'll become a bit more kick azz but not lose that whole play nice outlook. Naive, but cute and very good hearted so I was ok with the change of pace for a leading lady. For now anyway!

An intoxicating new series by Deanna Chase!! Meet Willow Rhoswen, by day - owner and creator of incredible edibles at The Fated Cupcake.. by night, she hunts vampires. As the story unfolds, Willow returns from Northern Cali where she has spent the last few months with Talisen, her dead twin’s best friend, the man she has had a crush on most of her life. Although exhausted from her flight home – Willow has an assignment and in an unexpected twist “reunites” with her ex- boyfriend, who broke up with her via a text message and she has not seen him since – until tonight, outside a New Orleans cemetery. And now he’s turned - he’s a vampire. The well-paced plot keeps you turning pages into the wee hours of the night and offers up characters you will really come to love. As a fan of Deanna Chase – I have to agree with a few other reviewers – this book is really, really good – and for me has even surpassed her Bourbon Street series! – And the best news, the next installment of the series will be out in Nov ’13!

Simple language, one dimension characters, bland conversation and action scenes. Could barely finish it. They should have a recommended age on some books. Not for adults who have read well written paranormal fiction.

This is a hard review to write. How can I put it in words without spoiling anything? I loved the story. But at times, the heroine, Willow, would drive me crazy! I wanted to smack her. Why she worried about the bad guys being tortured to get info from them was beyond me after all she went through. And she treated Talisen (hope I spelled that correctly) and David so bad most of the time. Almost seemed selfish a few times. But if I had been through what she had, I would too. I got frustrated because it would take forever to get things explained. But that's what made it keep you hanging. I didn't mean that as in it was drug out. Not at all. There were some twists at the end I never saw coming. I had to stop for a moment and just think about it, I was so stunned. I was also torn between David and Talisen for most of the book. I saw good in David even though he had been bad. Ooh I'm dying to tell about stuff. This world building and story line is so amazing! It's really strong and packed with stuff. I had the ebook and the audio so I would listen at times and read other times. The narrator really brings it to life even more. She does voices so well you think it's actually someone else speaking. I forgot I was listening to just one person. It was like listening to a tv show. I was so absorbed. I think this might be my favorite series of Deanna's now. I highly recommend it.

I don’t read many books by Deanna Chase but this is a pretty good book. I only gave it a four stars because it was good but not great in my mind unlike some of the other books I have read. That and I don’t think I liked the ending of this one that is if I am remembering the same ending or not. Anyways this book has a whole lot of fun stuff in it. I mean who would ever think that a faery would ever have once loved, maybe still does, a vampire. Granted yes he was human when they were dating but that’s beside the point. This book has a lot of fun curveballs that it throws at you when you think you have a clue on what is going on. I should know I have had to step back and rethink about it before continuing on as I go and cross off what I thought was real wasn’t. This book is really good and I am happy that my mom told me about it. To read my other blog posts/reviews please go to my site: baronessbooktrove

I liked it, one woman, two different men looking after her from different perspectives. She seems to move through life without realizing that the two men in her life are the real drivers.

I really did like it, but it's too predictable in the romance department. Depressing. You knoooow she will never actually go for the sweet, best friend. It just isn' t done nowadays, lol. It was wrong to give us and him such false hopes. She's gonna pick the moody, secretive vamp. I mean, come on. Still an entertaining read.

I love Fantasy and Sci Fi, so this book is right up my alley. I was entertained by this book, but I have to admit that some things about Willow did annoy me just a little bit (Sorry Deanna, please don't hate me). I sort of cringe every time she says, "Got it?" Ugh! I don't know why that bothers me so much, but that's really just a personal thing with me, and not the book. I really like the story line, and the characters all have their own personalities. I would like to see a bit more descriptive writing though and more world building. I hardly got a glimpse of Willows world. I want to know what it's like to live in New Orleans. What will I see there? What's the weather like? Also, I know Willow is a faery and I know she has wings, but I don't know what they look like. I want to know what Willow's wings look like. What color are they? Are they transparent, translucent, opaque, glittery, holographic? I just didn't feel like I got a good picture of her in my mind as I was reading. I'm also not fond of books written in the first person, but, again, that's just me, personally, and not the book. The story line is serious, but some of the writing is more whimsical, such as when Willow gets nervous or upset and her wings flutter and lift her off the ground. I can't decide whether I like that, or whether I feel conflicted about it. I love that Deanna's books are edited very well. I can't tell you how irritated with a book that isn't well edited. I liked this book well enough that I want to keep reading the series. I definitely don't think this book deserves a 1 star rating. I've also been reading Deanna's Jade Calhoun series, and I like that series even better than I like the Crescent City Fae series. I will definitely keep reading.

The characters were flat & not likable. I would have dumped it but decided to finish since I was so far along. I should have dumped it in the first couple chapters since it didn't get better. I was glad that it was clean & not racy (sleazy) with sex sections. At least it was free but if you have to pay for it, you will be cheated. With all the free books out there, don't waste you time on this one.

Fae politics are rough! Willow lost her twin brother and needs to find out how and why. This was such a great paranormal romance. It has mystery, suspense, and a love triangle. I can't wait to find out more about the world Chase has created. The world is interesting and intriguing. I can't wait to find out more where Chase takes us in the next book.

I'm in a paranormal romance cycle, so I really enjoyed this book. Close to being up there with Sookie Stackhouse.

I had a very difficult time getting into this book. While it kept you on the edge your seat with suspense, I had to re-read like every other page because I felt as if I were missing so much. I still don't understand the Lucinda reference. Perhaps this wasn't truly the first book in this series and the questions the author never answered were clarified in earlier books. No idea. Doesn't interest me to find out.
