Reviewed by Tracy Slowiak for Readers' Favorite In a great new book by prolific author John O'Riley, Inheritance, Book One of the Wizards of Seattle Series, readers will be treated to a true adventure! Follow the story of Jason, a category 3 wizard, who's been out of a job for quite some time. Desperate to find work, Jason's unusual talent of being able to read the energy which lingers after an event has occurred brings him to the attention of a police department, and a potential job in using his ability to help solve crimes. He, his brother, and his cousin have also inherited a mansion, but in order to have complete ownership of the place, they must live there together for ten years. A lot happens to Jason and his compatriots, and this story will keep readers on their toes from the start to the very end. I so enjoyed Inheritance. This was a fun story line and a very readable book. There are great characterizations, great fantastical elements set in a modern day society, and great use of magic and wizardry in a fun and interesting way. Readers who enjoy a fast paced read filled with action, magic, a bit of mystery, and a whole lot of fun would very much enjoy Inheritance. I am pleased to recommend this book to any such reader. I am certainly looking forward to reading more of this highly entertaining series as soon as possible, and hope that author John O'Riley is already hard at work on his next effort, even as I write!

This is the second series I started authored by John O' Riley. Related to other series he made, this happened in a world where magi, wizards and paranormals exists together. Compared to other series, I personally seem to like this more. I am highly intrigued with the characters in this book rather with those in other series. I like the way Jason and Amy has something unexplored with their abilities rather than be "normal" like everybody else. I like the way the author hanged the story for the next book in the series. I am highly curious to who and what Radha is and what she will be to the hero. The introduction od the paranormal beings like the constructs, vampires and succubus added another twisting element to the story. I also loved the way the author put limits to each and every character and their abilities. The balance between the strength and being finite of each power goes well with the story and characters themselves. Over-all, I personally love this series more than the other one he made. I realized that it has a Mercedes Lackey type of story telling (not the plot) in here compared to the others and it is in a very positive way. I am way too piqued to read the whole of the series. Kudos again to John O' Riley for this series!

I was captivated at how the author set up and explained the complexities of the family members. Many of us can relate to Jason's character. The fact is that when you are struggling, all you need is a break. He sure received his! The authors concept was well received and I found it to be brilliant. I am now a new fan of Mr. O'Riley. Great Job! I am impressed.

Thought i'd start with this. I read it in one sit down, stayed up all night. That's how good it was. I mean, total wizard fanatic here. Magic and all that hocus-pocus stuff is what I live for (okay, maybe not live for, but read for.) I want to go into deep details about this book, but at the risk of ruining it for you guys. I"ll take my details on to goodread. Okay, imagine a world where you just happened to inherit a nice piece of property but then it turns out to be a world of magic? Yah, so awesome. I'm heading to goodreads.

This story really caught me by surprise because I had initially only bought it to gift to my little sister, but decided to read it too and loved it. My sister loves wizards (essentially anything harry potter or harry potter-ish). This book was very Potter-ish in the fact that it's three protagonists were wickedly fun to read. Jason was at first a secluded guy, a lone wolf sort of dude who never really thought of family much until his little brother Benjamin and cousin Amy end up in a will to inherit a magical estate. The premise was good, since the three of them would have to live in it for 10 years and learn white magic to become white knights before they can get a cut of the house and trust fund money. I really enjoyed all the different spells they learn. The spell mechanics is also unique. It uses a sort of psychic willpower from the caster, exhausting them if they use it too much. A good mechanic that built a lot of tension in the story when things got hairy. Really solid fantasy. I'll definitely pick up the rest.

I absolutely loved reading ‘Inheritance.’ This is my first experience with author John O’Riley but I can’t imagine it being my last. I was really impressed with the story he put together and I fell in love with the way magic worked in this world. It was an interesting plot feature to bind Jason, his brother and his cousin together in order to get the inheritance. It created an interesting dynamic that really added to the story. ‘Inheritance’ was a strong start that painted a vivid picture of this magical world. I’ll be interested to see what else O’Riley has to offer in the rest of the Wizards of Seattle Series.

I really enjoyed this story from John O’Riley. I thought it was cool how everyone knew magic in the story. The story circulates around the main character (a wizard) Jason, and his brother and cousin. I loved the adventurous vibe of the story, and I liked how it was modern and took place in Seattle. The supernatural twists and exciting spells make this very entertaining to read. The vivid detail used throughout the book really paints the picture of the fantasy world that it takes place in. I would have liked to have known a bit more about what the main character was feeling, but all in all, it was still a brilliant and creative story that I thoroughly enjoyed! Very suspenseful and fun to read. I have never read O’Riley’s books before, but I will certainly be reading more now.

Inheritance(Wizards of Seattle Book 1) was a very entertaining book that is exciting right from the beginning. Jason is a wizard who has inherited his cousin's land after she has passed away. This mansion includes magic and an inheritance that must be shared with his cousin and his younger brother. From there all the magic happens, the characters are well written and believable. Together they must work through the dark forces armed with black magic and learn to use their powers. Enjoyable and vivid read that will grab your attention with adventure in this fantasy world.

I loved this book entitled - Inheritance (Wizards of Seattle Book 1) by John O’Riley. I thought it was thrilling and very entertaining. The story has a very steady pace and kept me very absorbed. I was intrigued by the amount of supernatural knowledge that oozed out of the pages, and wanted to read more and more. The author really has something special with this series, as it’s a very believable world that he has created, that is full of mystery and enchantment. This science fiction/urban fantasy story flows very, well with well-developed characters, and extremely vivid scenes. The book is very believable, as I believed that Jason (the main character) and his magical world actually existed. The author is a genius with great talent. I’m really looking forward to reading the other books!

This is actually the first Sci-Fi novel I was introduced to and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the story of the wizard named Jason, from his quest to search for employment to his relationships with his family members. This novel has made me a huge fan of this genre of writing and I will definitely be back for each piece of subsequent writing.

Inheritance (Wizards of Seattle Series Book 1) is a fantasy story in a contemporary, magical world in which everyone is a wizard. I was hooked from the beginning when a curse, in the form of a black-eyed woman, is pursuing the protagonist. It jumps right into the action and you began learning about their powers. Jason knows instinctively she’s not human and what she’s there for, as him and his friends attempt to fight her off. Chapter 2 has its first twist in the story where you really get a greater sense of how incredible this world is, and I couldn’t help but continue reading to the end. This is very well-written, with ample descriptions, making it easy to immerse myself in the story. I like the way the author blended everyday life with fantasy and magic. Exciting plot and lots of action - would recommend.

"Inheritance" is the first book in a series called "Wizards of Seattle". Once again, Mr. O'Riley has truly blown me away with his ability to create such a realistic story that has depth and dimension to it. I won't give too much away but to give an idea: there is an event that takes place in the year 2029 which leaves nearly everyone on Earth a wizard, with the exception of a few, who are aptly named "non-magic folk". We are also introduced to the main character named Jason who is an unemployed level 3 wizard with an ability that only level 6 wizards possess. Unfortunately this combination works entirely against him, leaving him unable to find a suitable job due to his actual ranking. There's plenty more that happens after that, but then I'd end up spoiling this amazing book which would be a crime in my honest opinion. I will say, that the idea in itself is incredibly unique, and I absolutely loved the fact that it takes place in Seattle. This action packed story has everything from wizards and magic to secrets, deadly organizations, and curses, which will be sure to have you hooked until the very last page. Highly recommended and eager to read the next part in this thrilling series!

"Inheritance," was such a delightful read! I love the whimsical nature of the characters (Jason, Amy, and Ben) and their epic fight against  darker forces. The setting of Seattle was also a great choice. I visited Seattle a couple of times and I vividly pictured what the author was  creating. If only magic did exist! I did notice some similar magical enchainments from his pervious work, and I thought that was pretty cool. I love how the author keeps his novels fresh, yet his magical worlds can contain the same elements. Overall, I found "Inheritance,"  to be well written and I highly recommend to any ScFi lovers.

I adore John O'Riley's books, first series I read from him was, Grumpy old Wizards, now he has this new series, Wizards of Seattle. You will meet Jason he is a level 3 wizard, but has a gift that only level 6 levels have, there for he is not allowed to do everything and has a hard time finding a job. When he get almost killed he can't stop wonder why, but he soon will find out. Jason will also find a job and finally feels useful again. And then there is that aunt that passed away, whom he never heard off, Jason his brother and their cousin need to live in the house the aunt left them.

Author John O' Riley has penned a mesmerizing Contemporary Fantasy Adventure, in Inheritance, Wizards of Seattle Book 1. What makes it stand out from the rest is that it's a modern day book which delivers in everything supernatural, with no shortage of spells, vortexes , and dark forces. There's lots at stake for the three  family members which the story centers around; money and power which almost pits them against one another. And as the reader, what I enjoyed most was seeing if they would unite for the cause in the ultimate battle between dark and light. So excited that this is a series that I  can follow because I'm already a fan.
