Innovators Who Changed the World: Timeless Leadership Lessons from West Point, Green Berets, Sherlock Holmes, and Wall Street
FROM THE BACK COVER
There are many leaders who have changed the world, each in their own way and time. Some of these leaders are virtually unknown; others are quite famous. Although none were exactly alike, all were innovative and held virtues that led them to have a degree of innovation and moral courage that enabled their success.
In a compilation of fascinating stories, Dr. Jim Webb shares a view of visionary leaders who defied the odds to create extraordinary, lasting results in diverse environments. While guiding readers on a journey through some of the world's finest institutions and the influencers who produced and directed radical improvements, he shines a light on a variety of these exceptional leaders. They include financier J. P. Morgan who brought the United States back from bankruptcy only to be attacked by politicians, Japan's Jigoro Kano who founded one of the world's most practiced Olympic sports, and William Yarborough who became known as the father of one of the world's most elite fighting forces. Included are the timeless leadership lessons they left behind.
Innovators Who Changed the World profiles the history of those who created, built, and guided organizations and people through transformation and changed the world in the process.

REVIEW
"I find that I have to swallow my innate tendency to yell, Beat Army! when I read James's introduction. But, I quickly became immersed in the stories. His biography awes me and he uses his life experience to teach us about leadership through the lens of others. James does a superb job of describing how each "giant" spawned or changed an institution through force of leadership. His research is compelling; his weaving of history, his own experiences, and those of other leaders in the discipline are woven into fine silk. This is the biographical stuff of Kearns Goodwin, Korda, and Smith, yet with a new look. I became fascinated with each well-built narrative and the diversity of his chapters. I commend this book to any student of leadership, accomplished or novice."
