Ruth Dana Perkins was born I Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Perkins on December 4, 1964. Most of her growing up was spent in Luverne, Alabama with her parents, five sisters, and two brothers. After graduating from Luverne High School in 1983;she continued her education where she received an Associate Degree in Science from the Lurleen B. Warleen State Junior located in Andalusia, Alabama. In 1990, she received a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Communication from the University of South Alabama located in Mobile, Alabama. Although getting an education has always been a main focus of hers, so has poetry. Poetry has been a love of hers since the age of six-teen and currently still today. There have been publication(s) of her poetry in: The National Library of Poetry, and Celebrate! Poets Speak Out. She uses her poetry to express her feelings about issues through what she sees through her eyes. The church has been a great influence on her writing; I that she reflects in her poetry how God plays a role in challenges that she has faced throughout her life.
