About the Author

Emily Kimelman not only writes adventure, she lives it every day. Embodying the true meaning of wanderlust, she's written her Sydney Rye mysteries from all over the world. From the jungles of Costa Rica to the mountains of Spain, she finds inspiration for her stories in her own life.

While living under communist rule in the former Soviet Union, the KGB sprinkled her with "spy dust", a radioactive concoction that made her glow and left a trail they could follow. She was two. She was destined for amazing things after that, and she continues to find adventure to inspire characters like the badass Sydney Rye.

Wow!  Emily Kimelman has done it again!  Let me start by saying there is language and a little sex in this book so please be forewarned instead of leaving a bad review based on those things.  This was a great read.  The plot was original and well written and the characters were well written also.  This book continues the adventures of Sydney and Blue.  This book picks up where The Devil's Breath left us with Sydney still recovering but determined to recover and do the right thing.  There were twists and turns to the plot that kept me reading late into the night.  There were a few edge of your seat moments where I couldn't put this book down.  The characters were old friends and advisories too and I couldn't wait to see what they would do next.  This book shows a little of Sydney's vulnerable side and the struggles she goes through with her relationships and trying to fight the good fight.  She questions herself and her leadership abilities.  I felt like I connected with Sydney a bit more in this book.  Which I enjoyed immensely. This could be a great stand alone but I would suggest you read the series in order.  You come to know Sydney and others and see why they make the decisions they make and what drives them to do the things they do. I would highly recommend this book to others with the warning to be prepared to be as hooked as I am on this series. Thank you to Emily for providing me with a copy for review.  This did not effect my review one way or the other.  I was hooked on the Sydney Rye series after the very first book.

Check out the full review at Kritters Ramblings Another part of the Sydney Rye series and having read this right after the previous one, I loved being able to read two back to back.  Sydney is hiding out in Costa Rica to heal from the events in the previous book.   Although this one was just as action packed as the previous, I was missing out on the other characters in this book.  With Sydney in Costa Rica, I felt like she was isolated and away from the group of characters and I missed their roles in this book.  As said before there was still plenty of action, so it wasn't lacking on that front, just quite a smaller cast of characters.

Entertaining and easy to read -- a fun series that follows a complex detective sorting through her own struggles.  Always taking place in great locations, Emily does a great job describing the landscape and surroundings.  I feel like I'm there!

Recovering from a near fatal attack that has left her with residual trauma, including haunting dreams and flashbacks, Sydney Rye is regaining her strength at the jungle training camp of Joyful Justice, the vigilante network inspired by her now legendary acts of vengeance. This is the sixth adventure for Sydney and Blue and they are still going strong!!! Another wonderful story that keeps you on the edge to find out what is going to happen. I would recommend this book to any adult who enjoys action, mystery and a little sex.

Set in the steamy humid jungle of Central America, Sydney Rye seeks love, trust and justice in a changeable world of ever-changing alliances. Friend or foe is never quite clear!

Probably my favorite book in the series! Action picks up pretty fast, great character development, and some twists and turns that result in an unexpected ending. Really well written with a strong willed and independent heroine surrounded by a wonderful group of supporting characters. Still 4 stars just because it is so wordy, sometimes it gets frustrating. But otherwise well written and well thought out, more of a personal writing style preference than a reflection on the actual story!

This book is well into a series and I was left not understanding what the point of the story was. Sex scenes and violence were not that graphic.

Well written but a little far fetched as to the story line and unrealistic so far as the characters are concerned. I've read several in the series and they're pretty much the same story in a different locale but this is a talented author and I'll buy more of her work... just not any more of this series.

INVITING FIRE is the sixth book in the explosive Sydney Rye series. Sydney’s been recovering from a almost-fatal traumatic experience, complete with nightmares, waking flashbacks, and paranoia. She’s also dealing with the strange pleasure she is experiencing while facing her nightmares. In order to heal, she’s at the training camp of Joyful Justice, the network which was born from those who wish to expand on her vengeance. Yet recuperating is not as easy for Sydney as she’d like when an old enemy comes knocking. INVITING FIRE starts off with a bang and the reader is swept along with Sydney as she tries to keep her head above water. She’s more vulnerable, which is how we’re able to gain some interesting insights into Sydney’s character. I found it very easy to relate to Sydney in INVITING FIRE, which is a huge credit to the author. I was very pleased with the balance between action and introspection in this book. Definitely start with book one, UNLEASHED, if you haven’t yet read this series. It’s well worth your time!

Sydney is jumping into everyone's bed. Claims she loves Mulberry but doesn't want him to die. Please. Sorry Emily enjoy your books but not this one.
