Jack & Helen Frye Story: The Camelot Years of TWA
'Jack & Helen Frye Story - the Camelot Years of TWA', written by Randall Reynolds, published in 2016, from an archive of 12 years of research. This Biography/Novel/Love Story gives one a comprehensive overview of Jack Frye founder-president of TWA, and his glamorous society corporate wife Helen Varner Vanderbilt. Although the book focuses primarily on this power couple of the 1940's, it all also explores Frye's aviation career from 1924, until death in 1959 when Frye was tragically killed by a drunk driver at Tucson Arizona. Furthermore, the book focuses on Helen Frye's later life at the Frye Ranch, up until her death in 1979. Within you will find a historical background for Red Rock State Park at Sedona Arizona. Few people realize this property originally was the private ranch of the President of TWA, with guests like Howard Hughes, Elliott Roosevelt, Faye Emerson, Marlene Dietrich, Rhonda Fleming, and Tyrone Powers, to name but a few. When the ranch was purchased in 1941, and soon to encompass 700-acres, Sedona was all but undiscovered but for a few ranches, certainly nothing akin to its current expression as the enclave of the Rich & Famous. The Frye's and their guests accessed the then isolated Sedona via Jack's executive planes, the TWA Lockheed Electra 12A Jr., and later, the TWA Lockheed Lodestar 18. So, grab a drink, find a comfortable chair, and board the "Airline of the Stars" and the World of Jack & Helen Frye!

About the Author

Randall Reynolds grew up in the scenic Pacific Northwest communities of Corvallis and Bend Oregon. He relocated to Sedona Arizona in the mid-1980's at 27 years old. Recently he changed his residence to Santa Fe New Mexico where he was married to his partner of 24-years.

With his love of Sedona, Randy volunteered with his spouse at Red Rock State Park (former Frye Ranch) in 2003 and 2008. With a background in the transportation and airline industry Mr. Reynolds became interested in the Frye association with the property, a saga which had never been properly researched or developed. Caught up in a passion to get the 'story' out there, Randall used his gift of word to create the phenomenal web-portal: 'The Jack and Helen Frye Story'.

Randall has a great appreciation of the scenic outdoors and spends his time sight-seeing and exploring beloved regions of the southwest and the northwest, walking, hiking, biking, and motoring.

With a passion for history and aviation, the highlight for Randy was when he and his partner flew in Jack and Helen's Lockheed 12 over the California coast!
