This book is so much more than a story of revenge. It gives great insight into conditions leading up to, during, and after the war. Shows why the war was not just about ending slavery ( on both sides). Reading what both sides did makes it hard to use the term civil when referring to the war. I highly recommend reading it. It will make you think about what you learned in school about the war and the South's way of life. Also is pretty amazing to see what one can accomplish with the right motivation!

True story of one man's revenge against Union forces which killed two of his sons. This tragedy perfectly exemplifies what can and does happen during war. It is well written and compelling. A story you will think about long after you have finished reading it.

This great nonfiction book was about a man wanting to be left alone down in the beutifal land between Tennessee and Kentucky during the War of Northern Regression. The war comes to his land and he tries to be nuetral as he helps out both sides. When the Union decide to mess with his family by parading his sons around town decapitated, he feels like revenge is the only option. He makes a gun and takes out as many Union as he can until the war leaves. Afterwards, he goes back to being a family man farmer that still want to be left alone.
