In the last week I have read the first 4 books and am into the 5th -- I can't put it down. Sometimes the violence gets to me, but I love the characters and the world-building, and the story just hooked me in. The plot is fantastic. I'd recommend this series to anyone who likes hardcore urban fantasy. I always migrate toward books that have at least a trilogy, as you get to become more personal with the characters and are more deeply immersed within this magical world the author has had a longer time to fabricate with more pages to elaborate within. This compilation is everything a bibliophile needs and more. Jill Kismet is one tough hunter and doesn't appreciate the ruckus the hellbreed is stirring up in her town, Santa Luz. It's up to her to weed out the evil while watching her own hide as she too is constantly marked for death. All six books are filled with a new evil Jill must defeat in order to save not only the blatantly ignorant humans, but herself as she is a force to be reckoned with standing in the way of the darkness. Working alongside the police and with some otherworldly acquaintances to ensure the non-humans follow the rules and wipe out the monsters that don't, can Jill take on the undivine alone or will she crack under all of the pressure?  Saintcrow's work tends to be steeped in the seamy side of life and her heroines are tough, resourceful in the extreme, but vulnerable. Combine this with the workings of the supernatural underworld in an alternative earth full of hellspawn of various species, and cops and vigilantes who patrol the bad sides of town, and you have the Jill Kismet series.

The story is completely fantastic, yet totally believable because the characters are so engaging. Not that I would want to befriend Jill, but I would be happy to know she was on the job.

Six books, 1408 pages, all between one cover. Can it get any better? I always migrate toward books that have at least a trilogy, as you get to become more personal with the characters and are more deeply immersed within this magical world the author has had a longer time to fabricate with more pages to elaborate within. This compilation is everything a bibliophile needs and more. “Stay with me for ten minutes, Kismet.” His tone had turned soft as velvet, cajoling, and the stretched wide smile was gone.” Jill Kismet is one tough hunter and doesn’t appreciate the ruckus the hellbreed is stirring up in her town, Santa Luz. It’s up to her to weed out the evil while watching her own hide as she too is constantly marked for death. All six books  are filled with a new evil Jill must defeat in order to save not only the blatantly ignorant humans, but herself as she is a force to be reckoned with standing in the way of the darkness. Working alongside the police and with some otherworldly acquaintances to ensure the nonhumans follow the rules and wipe out the monsters that don’t, can Jill take on the undivine alone or will she crack under all of the pressure? Pick up this book and find out for yourself. *This book was provided in exchange for an honest review* *You can view the original review at Musing with Crayolakym and San Francisco & Sacramento City Book Review

Hits the ground running and never stops. This is a compilation of the whole series which makes it awesome, you go from one story to the next and don't have to take a break unless you want to rest. Lilith Saintcrow has written an earthy character, with human flaws, that really kicks hellbreed butt! Each story gives you a few hints on her past and what makes Jill the tough character she is (with the soft squishy insides). Saul is great as the romantic interest that keeps her grounded. I really enjoyed this series and will definitely read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this series.  In fact I catch myself looking to see if- maybe - there is a seventh out there just to catch us up but alas, no... Great characters.  Fantastic plot.  Very enjoyable.

This is an interesting tale. However why do modern writers insist on filling their pages with obscenities. It would have been much more enjoyable had she left out all the F words and other similar expressions.
