One Hot Chef....

Eric Vail has always loved a challenge. After leaving the Navy, he mastered his passion for cooking. As the sous chef at Top, one of Dallas's hottest restaurants, his skills are pushed to the limit every night. Unfortunately, his ultimate prize still eludes him. Server Deena Holmes is the sweetest thing he's seen in forever, but she's as distant as she is beautiful. When they're put together in the same training class at the infamous club Sanctum, he knows this is his shot. And this former SEAL never misses.

A Woman Who Lost Her Taste for Love...

Deena thinks Eric is the most gorgeous man she's ever seen, but her heart has been burned too many times before. She's sworn off relationships for good and she can't trust herself with a man that easy to fall in love with. She takes a spot as a trainee at Sanctum in the hopes of finding a safe place to explore and experiment. When she discovers her partner is the same chef she dreams about every night, Deena knows she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

A Perfect Recipe for Passion

While exploring the world of Sanctum, Eric and Deena find themselves learning about each other and finding an intimacy neither expected. But when the ghosts of her past resurface, old wounds are reopened. Can their newfound love survive when it's put to the test?

Eric Vail is a sous chef at Top, the hottest restaurant in Dallas. Its owned by Sean Taggart, he hires former military to work at this restaurant so Eric being a former SEAL fits right in. He loves cooking and thrilled that Sean agrees to help him open his own restaurant. Always up for a challenge he looks forward to getting started. In the meantime his biggest challenge to date is to get the lovely Deena Holmes to notice him as more than a work colleague. When Eric decides o sign up for the Dom training class at BDSM club Sanctum owned by Sean's brother Ian it turns out to be the perfect opportunity for Eric to get his hands on Deena in more way than one. Deena has lost at love so many times she has closed off her heart. Eric her friend at work is the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen, but she can't risk her heart again. So she keeps him at arms length no matter how hard he tries to get her to go out with him. Since she realizes love is not an option for her she signs up as a submissive trainee at Sanctum in hopes of finding some fun with a Dom so she can explore the world of BDSM. She know she can leave love out of the equation. That is until Eric becomes the Dom she is assigned to then her heart comes into play and she's afraid she'll get hurt. She has to keep it casual its all about the fun and the experience but she soon realizes Eric maybe more than she can handle. I loved Deena and Eric as a couple. Eric was so alpha male sexy, he's military and he can cook what more could a girl ask for? Deena did annoy me sometimes with her resistance to the big guy but I knew it was because of her past experiences that made her afraid to let her heart go. Lexi does such a great job developing her characters that you feel their emotions. I also adore that she adds in some of our favorite characters from the Masters and Mercenaries series especially my love Ian Taggart. He is the comic relief in any situation. When Deena tries to talk him into giving her a new Dom to train with I laughed and I cried a little with Deena. All in all this was a sexy, fun read that had me feeling all sorts of emotions.

Eric is quietly persistant in hs bid for Deena's heart. Something Deena is wary of giving again. Along the way Deena shows Eric how to believe in himself and Eric shows Deena it is safe to give her heart.

Sexy and Fun! All of Lexi's books are filled with passion, love, family, humor and a lot of scorching hotness! I really enjoy seeing another side of the master and mercenaries crew and the many new characters in this novella that takes place at Sean Taggert's restaurant Top! Big Tag (Ian Taggert) plays part in the story, and it is full of his craziness! There is never a dull moment when he is around! Eric is an ex military sniper and the sous chef at Top. If there is one thing Eric knows best other than food it's how to be patient. For a year he has tried to sneak his way into Deena's life but she has her life course planned out and seems to have no room for him. Deena learned the hard way early on by giving her all to the wrong man and it left her life in shambles. Dare she hope that Eric be different. Deena is given the opportunity to embrace her wild side and Eric places himself in the position to be her Dom and push her boundaries. Deena knows that if she isn't careful she will fall madly in love with her handsome chef but balancing love and the new life she has worked so hard for may tear them apart after all. I really enjoyed this book. I'm always left longing for the next!

3.5 Stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Even though I’ve only read a few of the Masters and Mercenaries, I picked this up out of order because if there’s one thing I love reading is a good romance about a hot chef. Something about men that love to cook…. :) Eric is the sous chef at Top. A restaurant that ties into the original group of mercenaries (the Taggarts). He’s also ex military and after his time serving he was left with a severe scar on his face. He came out of all that with a very good attitude and even stronger personality. One that he likes to use in dominating women as well. Deena on the other hand is a waitress at Top and she is trying to rebuild her life after a bad and abusive relationship. She is excited to explore her liking for BDSM. Sanctum is offering an opportunity for new members to join in and undergo training. Eric and Deena are offered this since they work at Top and are paired up together for the training. As much as you would expect the badass ex military to be, well… badass, Eric is actually really nice and sweet. Yes, he’s a Dom, but he’s not the type to rule with an iron fist and isn’t as intense. Might just be what Deena needs. I liked his character a lot more than I liked her. I found her a bit whiny and impulsive. Eric was set from the start that she was supposed to be his forever, and I always have issues with novellas where the girl falls for the guy in such a short amount of time. I felt I could’ve used a full length one instead. One of my favorite things about this though (other than the sweet chef hero was seeing the rest of the crew (especially Ian!!!!!) and get a small glimpse of their lives now. This was an entertainingly sexy short read and it just reminds me that I need to hurry up and catch up on the original series.

I love these books and read every one but this is the first one in this series that I didn't like, Eric was a boring character Deena's issues were annoying and there was no action whatsoever . Scenes were dull. I expected more.
