"Mama, when is my sis gonna open her eyes? I've been waiting forever!" Willowkit complained. Shadekit let out an annoyed mew, why can't Willowkit be patient for once? "Willowkit, be patient and give Shadekit her own time to opwn her eyes" Ghostfur scolded gently. Willowkit sighed and lay down beside Shadekit. Soon Shadekit heard the gentle breathing of Willowkit and Ghostfur, they both were asleep. Suddenly Shadekit smelled something, different from the smells of milk in the nursery. It was the smell of woodland, Shadekit pricked her ears to hear birdsong that filled the forest. "When are the warriors going to come back from the hunting patrols? I need more milk for Redkit and Oakkit" a queen mewed. Shadekit lifted her head Warriors? she thought, puzzled. "They are probably making sure that RiverClan are staying on their side of the border, they tried to attack us last time, but the our warriors defeated them" another queen mewed. Shadekit suddenly filled with excitement, she wanted to protect her Clan from RiverClan, too! I'm going to be a warrior! Shadekit thought excitedly, her eyes opening for the first time.
