About the Author

Zoe Dawson is the alter ego of multi-published, bestselling author Karen Anders.

Karen started her career because her grandmother gave her a book to read. That book made her fall in love with romance and started her on the trek to get published. She achieved that goal in 1996 with the publication of Jennifer’s Outlaw for Silhouette.

Even with eighteen books under her belt, she can’t wait for that next idea, that next exquisite sentence and, of course, the next hero and heroine who fall in love.

It's unusual to find such good character development in a novella. I loved the blending plot lines of human and canine love, although be warned that there are explicit sex scenes, which did not offend me but might turn off someone who wanted a romance without sex. Nicely done.

This novella scores with all the right notes: characters to enjoy, funny scenes, and TWO steamy romances.  So what if one of the romances is an inseparable connection between two Great Danes? A cleverly crafted story, Dawson manages to integrate helpful doggie tidbits into the story, while making the dogs an integral element in the introduction of Callie and Owen.  When 400 pounds of canine exuberance throws you together, you just have to go with it.   Callie is instantly likeable, with her warm and caring personality and a touch of insecurity that is all the more endearing when contrasted to her business acumen.  Owen has fallen into the fame and fortune trap, keeping everyone at arm’s length all the better to protect himself.  Denying the attraction that sets sparks flying with every contact, Callie and Owen have a heat that is palpable and tangible, despite both being unwilling to acknowledge their personal connection; instead relying on their dogs and their past baggage to keep themselves at arm’s length.    A few twists, turns and a suspicious series of nicked items throughout the building all comes neatly to a close at the end of the story, leaving the reader smiling and the potential of a new favorite romantic duo that never ceases to provide enjoyment and laughter.  I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review as part of the Indie Authors Rock promotion on I am, Indeed.  I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Great story using dogs as part of the story. Anyone that is an animal lover will be able to relate to the story. Wish it had been longer but a good book to take to the beach!

Callie and Owen's story is very sweet. While it may be only 74 pages, it is well done. Callie and Owen continue on in the next book of this series about Brooke.

It was a good story, until the end, when it became sappy.

Love the book and characters, hated the unnecessary steamy sex. Too bad the author never had a real c-section needed on a Great Dane, nor that Cancer is a bigger issue, now than hip disorders. Otherwise, the dogs, not people made this book worthwhile.

callie & owen fairly sizzle when they first see each other. Callie is a sweet, tomboy, beautiful in her own way. Owen is a successful badboy night club owner who's taste in women run to the beautiful, sophisticated, polished type. At first, I was upset because it seemed that Callie was so overwhelmed with her attraction to Owen that she would become his doormat! But yaay that did not come about. The great danes are adorable & her three long time girlfriends are loyal & fiercely protective of Callie!

I read the longer expanded version and loved it! Callie and Owen stole my heart! Callie and her group of girl friends gave me a Sex in the City vibe with each lady being a stand out with something different. Callie is our girl next door who loves to be active and always falls for the wrong guy. Owen is a sexy nightclub owner who doesn't do relationships. When their dogs get together, Callie and Owen find themselves pursuing a relationship that is everything they didn't know they could have! This story was sexy and fun. Owen was broody and a little damaged, but Callie helped him see that he deserved to be loved. I loved watching Owen let his walls down. I will definitely be jumping in to read the rest of the books in the series! I love these women and I can't wait to see the men that complete them!
