About the Author

Joleene Naylor is the author of the glitter-less Amaranthine series, a world where vampires aren’t for children. As a compliment to the novel series, she has also written several short stories, including the Vampire Morsels collection, and an Amaranthine Encyclopedia. In what little time is left she watches anime and updates her blogs, all from a crooked Victorian house in Villisca, Iowa. Between her husband and her pets, she is never lonely, and should she ever disappear one might look for her on a beach in Tahiti, sipping a tropical drink and wearing a disguise. I dropped everything to read the second book in this series. I am a big reader of Urban Fantasy (dark) and Paranormal Romance. I prefer them together. This is the second book of the Amaranthine series and it is just as good if not better than the first. The author has brought to life her lead characters. Katelina is a human whose introduction into the world of vampires is very violent and bloody. Jorick (swoon) is the mysterious and sexy hero. This second book explores the relationship between Jorick and Katelina and their struggle with how and if they are going to be a part of each others lives It also contains a great plot that is action packed and fast paced. Jo is a gifted writer and the conversations and situations the characters deal with are very real and full of emotions. I was even tearing up at some of the scenes. No cliche' vampire lines in this book. At these prices Jo's books are a steal and you won't regret reading them!

I got addicted with the "Morsels" that the author offers FREE and the first book. I am very anxious to read the next book as well. Try out the free books and I'm sure you will know if you want to read the whole series as well!

Once again this book is wonderful! I took my nook with me everywhere just so I didn't have to put the book down! Now that book 3 is on B&N I can read it too! I hope this series keeps going! I would hate for it to end!

This book is about 260ish pgs. It needs a lot of editing. An okay read. ***spoiler I liked a lot of the short stories and the reviews we good, but Kate is so whining and needy , she gets irritating. The vampires aren't that great either all the bickering is bothersome. It's stated that some are mind readers, but it seems like no one bothers to use them to figure things out. I don't know why Jorrick doesn't train Kate to fight, she is just a whiney hinderance. Also she had been warned that vampire blood could make her sick, not to mention she knew what eating the heart meant and that vampires wouldn't listen to her , so why didn't she just throw it in the fire? So far not sure why the rave reviews.

The second installment in the Amaranthine series has all the strengths of the first volume and none of the weaknesses. The vampires continue to be violent and scary, in fact the violence and scary ramps up a notch. The character development is stronger and draws the reader into the story more effectively than the action. Tired of war and fighting all Jorick wants is to retire to his book crammed house in Maine with Katelina. Katelina is still reeling from the revelation that vampires are real and really dangerous while trying to come to terms with her feelings for Jorick. They don’t get the peace and quiet to sort things out as war breaks out among the vampires and they must fight to survive. On to [book:Ties of Blood|12730744]!

I love this series! I love all the battles but this book was mostly verbal fighting...lol...damn I wanted to slap some of them! Oren is so damn frustrating! I liked the interaction between Jorick and Katelina in this one it was explosive and raw and just perfect. This book starts off where the last one left off with Jorick and Katelina going to his home. When they get there they are set upon by several people all of who have several options on whether or not Jorick should or should not Join in on Oren's war against the Guild. Jorick determined to have some peace at home with Katelina declines, but fate it would seem has other plans for them when Katelina is attacked by goons sent by and old enemy bent out for revenge and Jorick must join forces with Oren in order to retaliate. Will they die in this battle? no one knows, but Katelina is determined to prove her worth no only to Jorick but to the others as well for she may be a human but she is no coward! I totally love this series! Joleene is an artist! the characters are amazing, they are so much like real people it is amazing to me that they are not ...lol... except for the vampire thing ....lol.... if you could really throw that many annoying people in one room together it would soooo be just as she describes it she is a genius!....I so can't wait to read the next one.
