About the Author

I love reading romances—contemporary, paranormal, Regency, Gothic, you name it—so I decided to give writing them a whirl and discovered that I really enjoyed it.

My first romance novel, With One Word, was released in November 2015. After completing my eight-part billionaire romance series, Winter’s Heat, I’ve moved on to a contemporary Gothic romance called Dark Bargains. The story is about the son of a casino magnate who falls in love with his brother’s mistress. It has a mansion on a lake, a dead wife, a ghost, and of course lots of secrets.

You can find my entire catalog and my latest ramblings and news on my author blog at http://oliviablakeauthor.wordpress.com, and be sure to sign up for my newsletter while you’re there so I can let you know about new releases and sales.

Thanks to all of my readers who make doing this possible, and especially everyone leaving reviews—they really help!

Pam doesn’t have many choices of employment because of her prison record and can only think she will be losing the one she has now that she has been ordered to report to the CEO as his new personal assistant. Robert has other plans for Pam can he convince her to stay when he tells her what his plans for her are? This is a fast paced read with lots of emotion. I really liked the story as well as the characters.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This was also my first book by this author but it won't be my last!! "Lessons in Love " by Kathryn R. Blake is the story of Pam Weston and Robert Peterson. This was a total different book than I thought it would be. It kept you guess what was going to happen in someways even though you always seem to know what was going to happen in the end of a Romance book. I also think the reason that added to this is that we only have her version of what is going on...we don't 'hear' from Rob. Which I will say I like to hear both parts of the couple so I there is any marks against this book that would be it. I truly thought a one point there would be a cliffhanger but there was not on... which I was so glad. I ended up reading this book into the early more hours until I just had to stop due to being early morning already! So be prepared to be hooked on this book and not wanting to put it down! Pam had a tough childhood due to her step father's treatment and the mental hardship of watch her mother get beating by him. When she was sixteen years old she did something to end their torment by taking his life. Her mother didn't step forward to help with the court system and hurt her more than anything. Since she was young and had good behavior she was released a few years earlier then her 5 year sentence. Pam started working for a company that her Dr in the prison had director to. About 6 months into the job she is directed to help out with the CEO Robert Peterson as his assistant. Pam finds him sort of cold and harsh the fist part of the day but by the end of it we see him taking control of her when she starts to have panic attack. CEO Robert Peterson who also is Dominant Male and embraces that life style is drawn to Pam. Rob also feels that he can help her with her self hate, self put down and that is what he looks to do at first, but she is total different than other women he has had in his life. Rob I think tries to change her outside appears somewhat to help with her attitude she has on herself and to help her deal with some of the clients he would be having. This to put her on a more fitting footage for her but she takes it in as she isn't good enough. Which Rob again tries to get her to see what he wants her to see. Yes, he does some/most of this because he prefers her to look a certain way but I do think in his way he is trying to help her. So will Pam be able to mover forward from her past? Can there really be relationship between these two? I am sorta on the fence with this book. I struggled with the whole dominance thing- just not in my personality. But for the story, which was extremely well written, the dominance made sense. The characters were strong & developed & the story flowed very quickly. I LOVED the ending. ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I found this to be an exceptional book! It was so VERY well written!! In-depth characters, strong and damaged heroine, and deeply caring and controlling hero, and long enough to tell this story to it's fullest!!! Pam and Rob really made a perfect match for me...at least by the end. You'll have to read it to fill in all the wonderful in-between!! Absolutely fantastic!

I found this book to be a very thoughtful and heart-warming story. Pam, a damaged woman, has a heart of gold but very serious self-esteem and self-worth issues due to her terrible childhood. Rob, a very successful CEO, is a very dominant man and believes that he can help Pam with her self-esteem issues through the use of domestic discipline. Although I don’t necessarily agree with Rob’s methods of invading Pam’s privacy to set this whole experience in motion, this book provides a wonderful and uplifting story of how both people grow personally as a result of their relationship. Definitely a story that leaves the reader with a smile on his/her face and a feeling of happiness.

Why are we turned on by strong dominant caring men that tell us what to do? I don't know but if that does it for you this is a great read. Pam has had a very difficult life and her new boss Rob is determined to help her with her insecurities. She becomes his submissive and he helps her deal with her self image and other problems. This story is well written and entertaining. I enjoyed the character of Krista, Pam's best friend.

CEO Rob arranges for Pam, just out of prison, to work for him. To be his admin, she must agree to his methods, which she does. They fall in love very quickly, but Pam has low self-esteem and needs reassurance that he loves her for who she is and isn't just his next welfare project. The ending was very sweet, and I hope she doesn't keep running away from him!

This book was a wonderful “Lesson in Love” – as Robert showed extraordinary patience and affection in dealing with the multiple insecurities of Pam. She had a rough life, before going to work for Robert; and it took a lot of caring and loving by Robert in order for Pam to get past the negative effects of her previous life. The sex is mild, and the spankings are given in a caring way befitting someone who really is trying to correct behavior, not cause any injury. I really enjoyed reading the book.

First of all, let me say I love Kathryn Blake's books. She not only writes about intense D/d relationships, she also has a good grasp on the emotional relationship between those people. This story is about Pamela. Pamela is on parole from prison. She is asked to be the personal assistant of Rob Peterson. Rob is pretty intense, and he requires a corporal relationship with his assistants. Pamela agrees and there is where the story starts. This is an intense book that is well written. It is very hard to describe the relationship between Rob and Pamela in this review. You really need to read about it. I stayed up way too late trying to finish this book and ended up not being able to finish it before having to go to work. Believe me, I was very eager to finish reading the next day. I was blown away by this book. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it to everybody.

Pam has had a very difficult life and yet she's very strong and determined in a lot of ways in my opinion. She's doing her best to integrate into society and be as successful as possible. Rob is a very astute and ultimately nurturing person who wants to help, However he's also an alpha and sometimes his stubbornness cause difficulties in this burgeoning relationship. It was an interesting view into a domestic discipline relationship that was not romantic initially, and I appreciated seeing the transition from boss/employee to something more.
