Wow, what did I just read? Lies is the second book in the Web of Sin trilogy and it is one amazing page turner. This book begins right where book one, Secrets, left off and it just doesn’t stop until the last page. Lies is a great title for this book, because there are so many to uncover, that as it progresses it becomes so complicated as to whom Araneae should trust. The layers that Ms. Romig carefully and skillfully peels back make you not want to put this book down. Her writing leaves you wanting to turn page after page to find out what will happen next and how each layer will affect the next. At about 75% in, my anxiety level was probably as high as Sterling’s at that point. Things started coming to a head for him and Araneae as Araneae’s two world’s began to collide and his level of control was not what he was used to. This book was a nail biter and the ending just left my jaw dropped. I can’t wait to see how Ms. Romig wraps up this intrigue with Promises.

Wow, I thought for sure this one was going to be a solid 4 stars, but the last few chapters totally bumped it up to 5 stars. Aleatha has done her research on the Chicago profile. Being a native myself (and also recently moved to Colorado), I remember on the news when Alinea's restaurant was mentioned and how long the reservations were lol. We learn about some things that happen in the past and the ending has me thrown in a different direction that I didn't see coming. I can't wait for the finale!

*****My Review***** So much book goodness Lies does not disappoint! The twists and turns keep coming for Sterling and Araneae. You do not know what or who to believe. You want to put your faith in Sterling, but really it could go either way! Aleatha Romig has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for Promises to finally find out what is true and, hopefully, have this couple find their own HEA.

So just when you thought you knew how this story was going Aleatha goes and leaves you speechless. I just can't deal right now!!! Lies takes you from present to past, there are soo many things that are happening in this book that you are not going to want to put it down. You get answers and then you get plot twist, who can you trust? who is telling the truth? all these things i must know dammit!!! One thing that remains constant is the love the Sterling has for Araneae, but is that love genuine??!! I sure hope like hell it is! These two, their dynamic is just soo intense, hot, sexy, and damn comical at times. They are truly a well written couple that are not only dealing with things that happened in the past but are dealing with living together as a couple and sometimes things can get a bit interesting. Araneae is a such a strong female character and you really hope that she gets the answers that she is seeking about her past. Towards the end of this book Sterling and Araneae are the epitome of a power couple and the underground of Chicago should be prepared to bow in their greatness. I look forward to the conclusion to the Web of Sin series but i also don't know if i will ever encounter a couple quite like this or even a book series like this that leaves me with wanting to know how it ends. Oh wow, this series is getting better and better, and that is saying something because the first book already blew my mind... but Lies?  As Araneae gets more revelations, the web of Lies also tightens around her. She eventually learns more about her family and yet the well of intricate secrets seems bottomless. Aleatha Romig is a queen when it comes to writing amazing and suspenseful plots. Lies feels like a strategy game you would play blind. Who are your adversaries? Their end game? What are even the rules? The board itself would be evoluting with each move. Can you feel the hopelessness of the situation? “There’s a lot I don’t know,” I went on . “What I do know for sure is that since I’ve met you, my world has gone crazy.”  Araneae must adapt to her new life at Sterling's home; intensity and fights will punctuate their days (and nights!). Between her feisty personnality and his domineering ways, the sparks are flying, for my greatest enjoyment! I absolutely loved their chemistry and their magnificence.  "I won’t apologize for the reality of how it is because the payoff is worth it.”“Is it?” I asked. “Are you sure?”  Lies is a rollercoaster or a dance with highs and lows, acceleration and slower passages, abrupts twists and dizzying turns that will let you hanging over a dark precipice.  The question is: is Aleatha Romig going to let us free fall into madness in the next book, Promises? I can't wait to find out.  "You like to push me? My smile grew. I’m going to push back."

Oh, what a tangled web you have weaved Aleatha! I really like how this story is progressing and how strand by strand we're slowly unweaving the complicated background between Aranea and Sterling. Lies is an appropriate title because many key players are either lying or being lied to and wow, if I were Aranea, I would be beyond frustrated!!! I really liked the addition of the Annabelle chapters this time around...great insight into the past where I feel a lot of answers lie! My only complaint with this series so far is I wish it progressed a little more quickly because sometimes I get bored with the details (like what a room looks like.) BUT I have to admit, maybe it's just because I want to hurry and get to the ending to see what kind of mess we're left with! One book to go before all is revealed...I hope, lol.

Note: This review contains NO spoilers Lies! That's exactly what lies ahead in this second installment of the Web of Sin trilogy by Aleatha Romig! And, Aleatha did not disappoint! Lies starts where Secrets left off. The suspense and intrigue is taken another notch up as Araneae continues to search for answers as she learns about this life that she was being "protected" from..until she met Sterling. The twists and turns with every turn of the page kept me at "the edge of my seat" wondering "what the hell!" Well, just when I thought I have pieced "things" together, Aleatha sabotages us with more twists... Oh the lies and secrets that are abound in this trilogy is just so juicy and intense! Then, there's the growing romance between Sterling and Araneae. Wow! Sizzling! Because of the lies and secrets around Araneae, trust is so hard to grasp. We already started seeing that in Secrets, but even more so in Lies. But, of course, we are left with another gripping cliffhanger in which we will have to wait anxiously for the epic conclusion of this trilogy with Promises. Oh, what a web of sin that these characters weave... An engrossing and thrilling read! Reviewer: Jasmine

Make sure you've read Secrets before reading Lies! "O' what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive" Walter Scott I'm pretty sure you've heard the o' saying in an argument, his side, her side and then there is the truth. But what happens when there are more than two people involved and none of them are sure as to what has happened? I'll tell you it makes a damn fantastic story that is spun like no other, written like no other, told by the only person capable of spinning such yarn, yuppers it's Aleatha! Have you been Aleatha'd? You don't have to wait forever the conclusion, Promises is being released on January 8th, I for one cannot wait to have my burning questions answered.

Romantic and angsty! I need the next book ASAP and can’t wait! Twists and turns kept me up way later than I needed to be one night! Couldn’t put it down. Renee/Kennedy/Araneae = all one woman who’s had 3 names at different times in her life and Sterling has come into her life with PASSION. I’m not sure if she can trust him though?!!

Wow! This is book two of this series and you must read book one first. The lies, secrets and twist that swirl throughout this dramatic and intense storyline will leave you breathless and dizzy. Sterling and Araneae are both very complex and complicated characters. You can easily feel their attraction and chemistry, which in turn let's you become completely invested in their relationship. You will find yourself 100% in their corner but you will not be able to quiet that little voice in your head though, that's screaming "Warning!! Trouble Ahead!!!" This book ends on another cliffhanger that will leave you stunned and anxious for book #3.

This book picks up immediately where the last book ended, and I would suspect the final book will do the same. That is the thing with a good cliffhanger, you need it to start right back up again! We get more into 'couple-dom' in this book, but it is far from traditional. There is so much going on, sometimes your head feels like it is spinning, but there is some important insight in a couple of spots that bring it all together. No answers mind you, just more questions. The story isn't in the finding the answers, but the path taken to find the questions that need answers!

Rated 4.5 Stars Lies was an interesting and intriguing ride that had me on the edge of my seat, highly anticipating what would happen next. My eyes were practically glued to the pages the entire time it took me to devour this book. I loved every minute of it and cannot wait for the conclusion of this trilogy. Copy provided by author

I’m loving this trilogy and am waiting with bated breath for the conclusion. Ms. Romig has a knack for writing her alpha males with just the right mix of looks, brains and a need for rules…or more precisely their need to have their rules followed TO.A.T! I did feel that LIES lacked some of the excitement that SECRETS had but if the last chapter is anything to go by, the next book is going to be CRAZY! Just as Araneae is coming to terms with her situation and her growing feelings for Sterling, her world is thrown into turmoil yet again. I cannot even fathom what is in store for Araneae and Sterling, but I can’t wait to find out. Thank goodness the wait isn’t that long.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Secrets. Secrets set the foundation for this incredible series and left me craving more. Having just finished Lies, my mind was just completely blown away!! Lies, Oh so many lies are going around. Someone is telling the truth but I have no clue who to believe!! Aleatha has a way of making you think one thing, then totally going in the complete opposite direction while making your mind go through every twist and turn possible! I was literally on the edge of my seat while reading. I have so many questions. I NEED answers now! The wait for Promises is going to absolute torture! I love being Aleatha'd!!

Oh what a tangled web we weave.... This trilogy is absolutely amazing! There is so much going on here first we have the lie that Araneae has been fed most of her life which was covered by many secrets but now that things are starting to unfold will we find out what the truth really is? And once we do what will that mean for her? What about Sterling, how does he play into all of this? Is he really who he says he is and is he really looking to protect her from the ones out to get her? Well, if you ask me Sterling is the real deal and I LOVE him, he is the anti-hero for all intents and purposes, you have the head of an organized crime family trying to protect a woman whom he hardly knows from someone who wants her dead. And believe me they have tried and he keeps coming to her rescue so yes this man totally gets my vote on being a keeper. Secrets left us with one heck of a cliffhanger and while we do get some answers we still don't have the full story, I am sure everything will be answered in Promises and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Aleatha Romig has done it again with this trilogy, if you have read Consequences, and if you haven't you really should, you will love that Aleatha is back to her dark side again. Secrets, Lies, and Promises is taking us into the underbelly of Chicago and showing us how dirty things can really be from your everyday Joe to high powered politicians no one is above getting their hands dirty. Come along for the ride, but buckle up because it's a bumpy one. Happy Reading!!! **I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
