Little Red: an Everland Ever After Tale by Caroline Lee

She’s gone over the river and through the woods, but who will protect her from the Big Bad Wolf?

Rojita is in trouble; all she needs to do is get to her grandmother in Everland, but she’s being chased by El Lobo, one of the West’s most notorious gunslingers. It isn’t until she’s thrown herself head-long into danger that she realizes the old adage about frying pans and fires applies. She’s in desperate need of a protector, and hires the first man who comes along to get her safely to Everland.

Bounty hunter Hank Cutter is more than ready to retire to a lonely little cabin in Arizona, to hang up his gun and find peace. He’ll begrudgingly help the reckless young woman get to the nearest train station, because he figures she’d get into even more trouble on her own. But when El Lobo struts back into his life—Hank still has the scars from their last encounter—he knows that he can’t leave Rojita at the gunslinger’s mercy. Maybe he’s nobler than he’d thought, because he’s soon setting a trap to save the lovely, impetuous Red. The only problem is that she’s still keeping a secret that could destroy his trust.

About the Author

Caroline Lee is what George R.R. Martin once described as a "gardener author"; she delights in creating interesting and lovable characters, and allowing them to lead their own stories. Often they draw the story along to completely unexpected--and wonderful!--places. She considers a story a success if she can re-read it and sigh dreamily... and she wishes the same for you. A love of historical romance prompted Caroline to pursue her degrees in social history; her Master's Degree is in Comparative World History, which is the study of themes across history (for instance, 'domestication of animals throughout the world,' or 'childhood through history'). Her theme? You guessed it: Marriage throughout world history. Her favorite focus was periods of history that brought two disparate peoples together to marry, like marriage in the Levant during the Kingdom of Jerusalem, or marriage between convicts in colonial New South Wales. She hopes that she's able to bring this love of history-- and this history of love-- to her novels. Each one of the books in her Sweet Cheyenne Quartet has reached the Best-Sellers list on Amazon, and all are available in e-book and paperback formats. Caroline is living her own little Happily Ever After with her husband and sons in North Carolina.

I like the retelling of fairy tales with a twist. It has become it's own genre. I think setting these tales in the old west is delightful. I've recently started reading Western Romace books but really was surprised when I found this fairy tale was developed as such. There is romance without sex. It's sweet in keeping with the fairy tale theme. I finished the book smiling with a warm feeling.

*** Finally! A literate fiction writer of this century! Someone who knows punctuation and grammar - who doesn't say, "me and" ... well, except for the cowboy. +* This is really a nothing story but entertaining. A little bit of humor. Lust gets to be repetitive and slightly annoying, but there were no explicit sex scenes. Perhaps, Ms. Lee deserves another star fir that!

Predictable and redundant. Typical relationship in a short story where the female is impetuous and the male silent. No surprises here.

Okay. All of the names are annoying and the plot wasn't that great. Very predictable.

People can change their goals in life based on the needs of others. This book shows this in a great way. The author did a good job of portraying that.
