Overview

This book is a crash course in effective reasoning, meant to catapult you into a world where you start to see things how they really are, not how you think they are. The focus of this book is on logical fallacies, which loosely defined, are simply errors in reasoning. With the reading of each page, you can make significant improvements in the way you reason and make decisions.

"Expose an irrational belief, keep a man rational for a day. Expose irrational thinking, and keep a man rational for a lifetime." - Bo Bennett

The book is informative and does a good job of explaining things with a dose of humor. However, the author 's main purpose is to trash Christianity. Most of his examples of fallacious reasoning are anti-faith. And he uses fallacious reasoning to do so! Better to read Norman Geisler's book on logic which teaches not only better, more calmer & from a Christian perspective.

Very thorough listing of fallacies, formal & informal. Example selection is biased, but author bio open about it. Some explanations are themselves fallacious, but not a serious problem (and it gives you practice). Book needs serious copy editing in this format, which lowers rating by a star.
