Lovegame is a true masterpiece, with thrilling suspense, crazy hot sex, and writing so truly beautiful that it stays with you long after you put the book down. It’s my favorite read of the year by far.”—Sawyer Bennett, New York Times bestselling author of Sugar Daddy
In this darkly addictive novel of seduction and psychological obsession, a movie star with a shattered past meets a man who can either break her or make her whole.
True Crime novelist Ian Sharpe has spent his career writing about serial killers for very personal reasons. For his latest exposé, he is taking on the sadistic madman known as the Red Ribbon Strangler, and when his research leads him to Hollywood’s most private and provocative actress, he will break every rule to uncover her truth.
The daughter of one of Hollywood’s golden couples, chased by paparazzi and treated as a commodity her entire life, Veronica Romero wields her sex appeal like a weapon. She expects Ian to be as easy to control as every other man she’s ever known. But from the beginning, he refuses to fall into line. Mysterious and cool, challenging and just a little bit dangerous, Ian somehow makes her feel safe—even as he digs into the deepest secrets of her life and pushes her to the breaking point.
As raw ecstasy gives way to agonized truths, their dark obsession exposes secrets that have been buried for far too long. Ian wants to tear down her walls and heal the sensual woman underneath. But if Veronica’s learned anything, it’s that the line between pleasure and pain is a narrow one—and when caught between them the only thing that matters is how you play the game.

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—in second grade, around the same time she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. A one-time English professor with over fifty novels to her name, she now devotes most of her time to writing romance and dreaming up heroes. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her family.

Chapter 1

It’s a sunny Wednesday afternoon in L.A.—just one more perfect day if you don’t count the heavy blanket of smog hanging over the city like acid-tinged perfume. In the distance, the Hollywood sign that is ubiquitous to this small section of Southern California is nearly obscured by the cloying, smothering stuff, but no one on the patio where I sit, waiting, even seems to notice, any more than they notice the goddess—no, strike that—the legend,—no, not that either—the siren—yes, that works—any more than they notice the famed siren who weaves her way between the cramped and crowded tables.

The lunch rush is over, but the small sidewalk café several blocks off the main see-and-be-seen drag that makes up so much of Los Angeles’s entertainment-based culture continues to do a brisk business as Veronica Romero slides into the seat across from mine.

She’s all bright eyes and smiles, all shiny blond hair and tight jeans and colorful gemstones glittering on every finger. Her blouse is white—her signature color—and oversized. Her shoes are high heeled, and the telltale soles of Christian Louboutin are the same shade of crimson as her lips. And yet there’s a casualness about her, an openness, that I don’t think anyone expects when they think of Hollywood’s most powerful—and highest paid—actress. As she introduces herself, I even catch a glimpse of the elusive dimple that many speak of but few ever get the chance to see.

It’s charming, and so is she.

“I’m so sorry I’m late,” she tells me in the throaty rasp that has sent shivers down the spine of many a red-blooded male through the years, myself included.

“You’re not.” A quick glance at my watch speaks to the veracity of my answer. “I’m always early.”

“I like that in a man.”

It’s a canned response, one that I can’t help thinking is beneath her. At least until I see the dimple flash again and realize she’s poking fun—at herself as much as at me and the artificiality of this situation.

“So, how do you like L.A.?” she asks after ordering a sparkling water from the hovering waiter. The patrons might not have noticed she’s here yet, but the waitstaff certainly has and they circle like buzzards around a freshly killed carcass.

“It’s . . .” I pause, try to think of a description that isn’t a lie but that also won’t offend this Beverly Hills–born- and –bred icon.

She just laughs, though. “Yeah. That’s what I figured. Thanks for doing this”—she gestures between the two of us—“out here. I just couldn’t fit in a trip to New York this week.”

“I’m pretty sure it’s my job to come to you. You’re the star, after all.”

“And you’re the Pulitzer Prize–winning, New York Times bestselling author who’s slumming by doing this piece.”

I crook a brow. “Writing the cover article for Vanity Fair is never slumming. Doesn’t matter who you are.”

“Funny. That’s exactly how it feels to be on this side of the story, too.”

She grins at me—and it’s not the exotic—sexy—man-slaying—grin that graces so many movie screens. It’s softer, more human. The goddess with feet of clay.

“What does it feel like?” I ask after the waiter has delivered her water and taken our order—a grilled salmon salad for her and a burger for me. “To be on that side of the story?”

She reaches up, toys with one perfect, golden lock of hair, and for a moment—just a moment—a shadow falls over her face. It’s gone almost before I can register it and then she’s tossing her hair, stretching languorously, yawning delicately, one pale, fine-boned hand pressed to her mouth.

“Are we there already?”

“Where is ‘there’ exactly?”

“The boring interview questions.”

“And here I was trying so hard to be interesting . . .”

“Oh, you don’t have to try.” Her smile is impish now, inviting me to share the joke. “I’ve spent the last few days trying to cull down the million or so questions I want to ask you.”

Now both my brows are up. “I’m pretty sure that’s not how these interviews are supposed to work.” This one in particular, considering I have a limited amount of time with her and so many, many things to figure out. Only a few of which are also part of Vanity Fair’s agenda.

“Interview-shminterview. Let’s just have a conversation. You ask me a question and I’ll answer it. Then I’ll ask you one and you answer it.”

Ian and Veronica were interesting characters, there were times I had to pause in order to better understand what I had just read. Which I loved because it made it more intriguing to me. The chemistry was amazing and the first time they had sex….yeah it was hot! There are some triggers in this book that I feel should be mentioned in case you don’t like reading dark stuff. Just keep that in mind, this book is not your typical romance. It has suspense and romance and intrigue and it’s kinda dark. So yeah..right up my alley I guess! Lovegame was written beautifully. It had everything you could want in a book and kept it real. Which makes it sooo worth reading. This is just the beginning there is so much more that goes on in this book and it’s so worth reading. I highly suggest that everyone read this book! *I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review*

I'm not a mystery fan when after a few chapters I already know who the villain is. This story was just ok for me. It took me a few days to get through it. If you like a little mystery and love story then you may like this one. Not my cup of tea.

Well written with a plausible Hollywood story line. I didn't really get the need for the BDSM but I guess its still popular.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This book is stunning. It's a dark, twisted and intense psychological suspense story that kept me riveted to the very end. The sex scenes are raw, passionate, and powerful. The writing is superb, the characters well developed. I didn't just read this book, I experienced it. I can't believe that this is the first book I've read by this amazing author. Now I feel like I need to get my hands on everything she's ever written! Hello Hollywood, this book needs to be made into a movie! I was provided with a free copy of this book by the publisher in return for an honest review.

This story was a bit hard to follow and keep up with. The characters seemed to really be all over the place which made it really hard to get attached to them. There is nothing really wrong with the story but something was just off but it's hard to pinpoint. Not my favorite read by this author but it's still a good read. There is intrigue, passion, lust and a whole lot of mental issues that lead to the culmination of the story.

The Lovegame is a story with mystery and suspense that will keep you guessing. I found that Tracy Wolff told a tale with shocking twists and turns while still managing to be realistic. I loved the character of Ian Sharpe his job as a True Crime novelist really appealed to me. I can be found watching the true crime stories on the History Channel every night. I am completely enthralled by that kind of stuff. Veronica is beautiful woman on the outside but a bit broken on the inside. She wears a mask for the public, her persona as the Hollywood starlet always in place. No one has ever been able to penetrate her shell of flash and glamour. Until Ian enters her perfectly orchestrated world and shatters all her walls. Ian sees passed her fake smile and the performance she puts on for the world. In his business he had to learn how to get people to tell him their deepest darkest secrets and desires. When she tries to get him under her spell he turns the tables on her and gets her to show her secrets. They have such an explosive chemistry between them that its clear they are unable to deny it. The love scenes were fantastic total page turner. Both of these characters have secrets and experience has taught them not to trust people. But there is something about their connection that has them thinking that taking a chance at the Lovegame just might be worth it.

Tracy Wolff is an amazing writter. I loved this book as much as her Ethan Frost series. Great characters, some suspense, angst, sadness, PASSION, and love. H is a famous crime writter following a lead on his next book that takes him to the h, a Hollywood star. Her story is so sad but she hides it well until H comes into her life.

Lovegame will draw you into a world of seduction, suspense and mystery. Best Selling crime novelist Ian Sharpe is doing research for his latest book and has accepted a job to interview Hollywood's leading lady Veronica Romero. Veronica was born into hollywood royalty and leads a very private life. Veronica learned at a young age an actress must use her sex appeal to get what they want and to hell with what others may think. Veronica just wrapped up her role in a movie based on one of Ian's books and has allowed Ian to spend a large amount of time researching and observing her for his latest novel. The only problem is Veronica isn't cooperating . She deflects questions when it comes to her personal life and tries every bag of trick she has to throw Ian off topic. As a former FBI profiler, Ian can tell the his observation and questions are leaving Veronica unsettled. It is more than just the usual distrust most actors have a the media. He knows she is hiding something and he is determined to unravel the mystery behind the woman. When Ian tours Veronica's home with her and then her mothers he starts to piece together a picture of a possible crime. But what does Veronica know, if anything, about this crime. Just as the picture starts to form strange things begin to happen to Veronica. Veronica starts having memory lapses and starts to fear she may be losing her mind. She is has been having nightmares since her last role she play based on Ian's book and she is having a difficult time separating herself from the character she played. Veronica is frightened and doesn't know who to trust. Can she trust Ian to help her find out what is going on? This book was extremely well written and kept me guessing throughout the story. I loved watching the trust and relationship grow between these two throughout the story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery. I received am eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are strictly my own.

The first things I said when I finished this book was Damn! This book is a work of art. It is complex, entertaining, twisted, depraved, tender, loving, and touching. It takes your emotions from high to low and punches your gut around a few times or two. This is a psychological suspense thriller in many ways but it's also a romance, with a touch of erotica too. One that builds up from the beginning to a high emotional level then actually had me wiping away a few tears towards the end, just from the emotion and pain the characters feel. The ending almost leaves you hanging and then you were let down softly and brought into a beautiful happy ever after. The author takes a complex story with deep insight into the human psyche and gives us a truly amazing story that you have to experience to believe. She knows how to get into the heads of people, not only her characters but also her readers. This author has thoroughly given me a book hangover but one I'm savoring until I can get the next book from her. * copy received for review purposes

A red-hot psychological thriller! Secrets, suspense and sex all wrapped up tight with an intense story and dynamic characters. Ian and Veronica's chemistry is explosive! Both of them have secrets to hide and demons to battle. But when their pasts collide with the present the result is some collateral damage. The plot was a dark and turbulent ride that had me on edge from start to finish. So hold on tight for another masterful mind-blowing masterpiece from Tracy Wolff.

Lovegame by Tracy Wolff is a trip; a hands down, mess with your mind trip, and what a freaking trip it was! The author puts a cast of amazing characters and a defined world together with a gripping storyline for this read. My only issue was the beginning of this was slow, too damn slow, in my opinion, and I almost put it up as a “DNF” which is a super rare thing for me to do. Yea it was close. I’m not gonna lie. I pushed on thinking to myself “just a few more pages” and then I was gonna call it quits. But then with a whoosh, the pace picked up and the story took a turn that got me back into the reading game with this one...TF is all I can say; for both the author and me. Hold out if you can because it’s a game changer! 4 stars only because that beginning was a killer...

A DEFINATE MUST READ!! A heartbreaking story of trying to put the pieces of your life back together when your innocence had been stolen and your betrayed by the people who are suppose to love and protect you the most! being a celebrity golden couples only child Veronicas' life was anything but fabulous. starting with the major trust issues that has made it hard to connect with anyone unless its of a sexual nature. which this usually works to her advantage on most men, that is until she meets the handsome Ian Sharpe who is all to familiar with her little game.while Ian had his own reasons for becoming a crime profiler for the FBI. Doing research for his next novel on The Red Ribbon Strangler he stumbled upon information that the accused was employed as a bodyguard for the Romero family and he needs more information and Veronica is the only one that can give him all the information and plans to get it at any cost. Ian soon finds himself falling hard for the sexy smart mouthed actress and when she exposed her dark family secrets it's to much and he can no longer go through writing his novel. For the first time in her life Veronica has finally let her guard down long enough to trust someone and to feel the love, safety and security that she has been missing her entire life and only Ian can provide for her.

It took me a while to get into the story. Veronica is a complex character who really does not know herself. Ian tries to figure her out by doing a good job at reading her body language and such. The story picks up the pace and I did enjoy it.

I must say I was impressed with the suspense in this book. For a minute, I thought that maybe just maybe Veronica was Schizophrenic. Ian Sharpe was not only intriguing, he had a dark secret. The interaction between Ian and Veronica was kept interesting with a lot of push and pull. Both wanted control and their privacy. This book is a lot more psychological than any I've ever read as well. Felt like I was watching Criminal Minds. Both Ian and Veronica were very skilled at psychological games but it was only because they wanted to deviate from revealing their true self. As much as it was thrilling and suspenseful, it was also emotional as Veronica and Ian shed off their layers. Tracy Wolff has definitely kept the book entertaining with the interesting dialogues and witty banters. This is my first book by Tracy and I'm sure it won't be my last. It was such a good ending although I wouldn't have minded more details. ARC requested via Netgalley, provided by Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchange for a honest review.

LoveGame is a seductive, intriguing, and passionate tale. When I requested this, I had no idea what it was about. I do that all the time. I think maybe, its the thrill of not knowing whats inside. Veronica Romero, is an actress, a sex symbol but also very private. She’s been able to hide the real Veronica and has learned to use that sex symbol status as a mask. No one knows the real Veronica. That is until she meets Ian Sharpe, A True Crime writer, who is given the opportunity to do an article for Vanity Faire. Through it all, he has his own agenda, to really get at the truth. Find out this mystery he’s been chasing for the last couple years. “The question is why. And who ? Who damaged her so badly that she figured out this was the way to protect herself? Who broke her so completely that she’s turned every part of herself into a weapon?” The writing is done beautifully. This story just had me completely on edge. It had this eery feel. Like you knew something shocking was just around the corner. Veronica and Ian together was totally raw, hot and just no holds barred. Their sexuality really is what made them both so vulnerable. Veronica isn’t very trusting of others for good reason. But Ian is really a great man, through everything he did not want to hurt her. LoveGame is a very captivating story. It held me, glued me till the very end. This is the first that I’ve read of Wolff’s and I’m glad that I took this chance. Anyone who really loves this genre, I think will love this story....Lissa

Ian Sharpe use to be an FBI profiler who worked with serial killers because of certain circumstances that happened in his past. Now, Ian is a Pulitzer prize-winning, New York Times best selling writer, who writes stories that revolve around real-life serial killers. He is currently working on a story that has led him to actress Veronica Romero, the most sought after vixen in all of Hollywood. Veronica just happened to get the lead part in his last book, Belladonna, and he just happened to get selected to interview her for a piece in Vanity Fair....a perfect excuse to try and get the answers from her that he needs. After meeting Veronica, Ian is smitten. It is obvious that Veronica is hiding things and Ian is determined to find out the answers. Of course there is instant, off-the-charts chemistry between the two, but she tends to just do one-night stands. When Ian provides Veronica with something she has never had happen before, one time turns into many! As Veronica starts to open up to Ian, he starts to realize that he is having real feeling for her, and also doubts about pursuing his book. On top of that, Veronica has to deal with a mother who acts more like a child, in a world where they want to keep the past a secret. I just adored Ian. He is very good at his job and at reading people and he was able to help Veronica with what she really needed in life. I love how he fought so hard for her. You couldn't help but root for Veronica to finally get her happy ending and boy did she. This story is very different from anything that Tracy Wolff has written before. It kept me intrigued with such a great story and great characters. I loved the suspenseful side of the story as well as the romance. Overall a great new story!

Lovegame is a thriller erotic goodness that will keep you turning the pages to the end and trying to figure out what is happening. Ian Sharpe is a true crime novelist who is writing the Vanity Fair article about Veronica Romero, the star of Belladonna, and he has an agenda. There are strange things going on in Veronica's life and causing her to question her sanity. All the while, the cat and mouse game going on between these two is enough to cause whiplash (and it is hard to tell sometimes who is the cat and who is the mouse). There are so many twists and turns I was never left wanting and the I found it very hard to put down and go on with my day when I had to. I am REALLY, REALLY thankful this author provided an epilogue and found myself with tears streaming as the climax was superb. **Received a copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

voraciousreaderKB More than 1 year ago I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books. LOVEGAME is a well written, fast paced, intriguing story filled with suspense. The characters and the story drew me in from the first page and never let me go. True crime writer Ian Sharpe meets Veronica Romero when he interviews her for an article he is writing for Vanity Fair. Veronica is an actress and staring in the movie made from one of Ian’s books. Ian is instantly attracted and intrigued to the mysterious, sexy Veronica and there is something about Ian that draws Veronica in from the moment she meets him. Ian and Veronica have an explosive sexual relationship that takes them both by surprise. Veronica is a well known celebrity and has learned she can't trust anyone. Ian and Veronica both have dark pasts and they can either help each other or tear each other apart. They are both vulnerable but good people thrust into bad situations. The reason I didn't give this story five stars is because I did not feel satisfied when the story ended; I wanted more information and still had some unanswered questions. Tracy Wolff spins a suspenseful, rich story with strong, interesting characters. They have secrets and flaws they don't want to share with each other and can't seem to fight their attraction. I couldn't stop reading and wondering where this was going and how it would end. This intense, riveting, steamy story kept me spellbound.
