A standalone romance from the New York Times bestselling author of Archer's Voice.

Holden Scott is the prince of professional football. At least he was before he lost it all . . . or more to the point, before he threw it all away. Now he's out of a job, out of the public's good graces, and perhaps just a little out of his mind. So when a friend offers up his remote lodge in the wilds of Colorado, giving Holden some time away to get his life back on track, he can hardly say no. The last thing he expects is to see a beautiful girl in the woods-one wearing a white, lace dress who appears in the moonlight, and leaves no footprints behind. Is she a dream? A ghost? A product of his muddled imagination? Or something entirely different?

Midnight Lily is the haunting love story of two lost souls reaching for each other in the dark. A tale of healing, acceptance, and the worlds we create to protect our own hearts. It is a story of being lost, of being found, and of being in the place between.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY VIRGO. Non-Paranormal, New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

YOU MUST GO INTO THIS STORY BLIND! If you see spoilers, do not read them because it will ruin the book for you. My second piece of advice is to pay really close attention to everything. Even when you get to the end, you will have to go back and reread some parts. Midnight Lily is not PNR, but expect some Wonderland-y feelings. I do suggest buddy reading so you can help each other discuss and understand. Just remember that at its core, this is a romance. After you dissect and digest, you will discover that Midnight Lily is actually an epic romance.

Definitely different. I read all of Mia Sheridan's other books and this story was a little hard to follow. I am going to reread it in a few weeks to give it another chance.

As always, I loved the strength and depth of the characters Mia has created. The story was woven with rich details. And yet, the ending left me confused...disappointed.

JUST GO IN BLIND AND BE PREPARED TO BE SURPRISED!!! Sign of Love: Virgo ‘Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, destined to live half her life in darkness, and half in the light.’ * “Fate is the language God uses to speak to us, baby. It’s up to us to listen, though.” ~Nyla Author Mia Sheridan proved yet again why she is a must-read author for me. The story was bold and unique, and the writing was wonderfully flawless. I loved the authentic nature of the various relationships (platonic, familial, doctor-patient and romantic) revealed in this mysterious love story. Writing style: Dual POVS Cover (front and back): I've seen the full book design posted on Author Mia Sheridan's Facebook page, so I have to comment on both. I love the purple and grey tones and the cover model on the front who perfectly represents Lily. The back cover has an intriguing Gothic and haunting design that piqued my interest about the story even further. Overall, the cover is simply perfect. 5 Greats 1. The sweet nature of the lead characters’ romance was lovely. 2. The layered twist was incredible. I guessed part of it but not all of the ins and outs of it. I love to be surprised and may have been further surprised if I hadn’t accidentally seen an inferred spoiler before my read started. 3. The question of sanity versus insanity was extremely interesting and realistically handled in my non-expert opinion. I’m not a mental health expert though, so I have no idea of how accurately depicted the related treatment and recovery issues were portrayed. But to me, they seemed highly plausible in light of the casually known treatment history for mental illness. 4. Nyala’s wisdom bombs – I loved her! She actually reminded me of someone I know in real life who suffers with annual winter depression but has a day job, writes and performs her own comedy acts. It was refreshing to make such a connection with this supporting character. 5. The observations about grief, recovery and coping methods were highly relatable to me. A top favorite quote: “…there will always be uncertainty. It’s love that will make it bearable. No matter what, it will always be our one sure thing, our one constant. It will always be the light to lead us from the darkness.”

"I'm not afraid of the darkness. I've been there before. I'll step into it willingly, unhesitatingly, and I'll come find you." What in the world did I just read?? I don't even know how to explain it, without giving spoilers (but I won't give spoilers. and you shouldn't either. not ever). "I think that sometimes, well sometimes, the only way to survive is to go crazy." This story has so much going on, but you just don't realize the extent of it until you get to the end. It continuously builds and adds layer upon layer. At first, you'll think it may be a paranormal book, but it isn't.... keep reading. Holden is a professional football player who has let the dark side of the business pull him under. He meets Lily while he's trying to get clean. She comes to him, just when he needs her the most. But what's Lily's story? There's so much mystery surrounding her and Holden wants solve it. I like to think that I'm pretty good at figuring out what's going to happen in a story. I'm not always right, but I get pretty close sometimes. With this one, I was so wrong. At about 50% in, a bomb is dropped and I had to stop reading for a little bit to wrap my brain around it. From there on out... don't try to figure out what's happening. Just go with it and let the story take you where it wants. The ending!!! I'm still slightly in shock over it. It'll make you question everything. Every. Thing. Go into this one with an open mind. Don't read the spoiler reviews. You need to read Midnight Lily with no clue as to what's to come.

Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite authors. Her books are always special and out of the ordinary. This one while a bit more unusual it still was engrossing and up to her standards. I liked the bit of mystery although not the paranormal kind. Two broken souls finding healing, acceptance and love. The mystery and twists and turns were perfectly woven throughout the story. It will keep you glued to the pages until you get answers and then you will still wonder about what you just read. A book worth reading again to see the clues you missed the first time.

Let me first start off by saying that no review could do this book justice. I also don't want to take any chances to ruin anything about this book for you. Midnight Lily was not what I expected at all, but in a good way. Just as you think you are starting to understand something, Bam! there is a twist that leaves you hanging up until the very end where you are questioning what the hell just happened. Mia Sheridan has a way with words and with each book she writes, she weaves the reader into the story. It is so beautifully written that each and every one of her books stays with you long after you have read it, and Midnight Lily is no exception to that.

I had the great honor to read this book some time ago, and yet it has taken me that long to find a way to truly do this book justice in a way that talks about the heart of the book and not the words on the page. Because that is what this book is about, actually…heart. What the heart wants. What the heart needs. What the heart feels. What the heart longs for. How the heart sees. How the heart recognizes. And, ultimately, what the heart is guided by....that beacon of light unique to each heart and what guides an individual through life to and from specific events and back to a safer place…back to love. So, here I am months later and still….yes, I said STILL…thinking about this book. It is hauntingly beautiful, eerily tragic, expectedly endearing, quietly heartwarming and surprisingly bittersweet. It is all those things because only this author can write it all and weave it perfectly into a story in a manner that does any character justice. Like so many other authors who let a book surround the backstory of one main character while the other plays more of a supportive role, this author always makes both of her main characters center stage and gives them equal billing. This is what she does with all of her books, so I was thrilled to see this was no different and, actually, more prominent here. I found myself in a world I never expected to be in, and it was shocking and stunning. This author takes you on a magic carpet ride through a life unexpected, a mind always changing, a heart always feeling, and a backdrop always telling. At the end of the book…there I sat…not sure what to think, how to feel or what to say because I was left speechless at the journey I was just taken on. I could elaborate more, but this book is best experienced with nothing more than an open heart, so I would suggest you go in blind and receptive…you’ll get more out of it that way. But just know that at the end when you are standing there mouth agape and shaking your head wondering where you got derailed and fell off of the guided tour, you will be ensconced in a love so profound that you will see just how powerful the heart is and just how strong the guiding force of love can be. It can overcome all things…it can heal all things…and in the end, it can hope for all things bigger than what many see as possibilities. You will see and feel things you never considered before, never felt before, and never thought were possible, but you’ll acknowledge them because they feel real…they feel personal…and they feel that way because Mia Sheridan wrote it, and only Mia Sheridan can make you fall in love with love, no matter what form it comes in because she guides us with love and shows us the true measure of a character…not through words…but through heart. 4.5 “God Among Men” Stars! Amazing, Mysterious and Romantic! Loved This One! The Review: Holden Scott is a NFL superstar, adored by his fans and the countless women who he enjoys with abandon. He’s also an addict and as of lately, a colossal screw-up. On his last chance, his best friend takes him to a remote cabin in the woods to dry up and get his head on straight. Lily of the Night seems to be a recluse ... or maybe even a ghost, living amongst the secluded woods surrounding the cabin. This beautiful and mysterious woman instantly captivates Holden and calls to something deep inside him. And figuring out if she’s real has become a mission of necessity. This review is going to be short and to the point. I’m not going to go over character or story developments because saying too much will definitely give this one away and there is no greater surprise than to actually be surprised. I will say that this book was amazing and truly full of mystery with a hauntingly beautiful story that will captivate and consume you. I was hooked from the moment this book opened to the very last word. I enjoyed watching the mystery unfold and the author did a fantastic job laying out breadcrumbs for you to follow. But even with the bounty of clues provided, there are twists and turns you just don’t see coming. The writing, as usual, is flawless. It’s different than her other books and I applaud her bravery in taking on something new. I’ve come to expect greatness from this author and she never disappoints. The story is beautiful and enchanting and definitely unique. I finished this ARC the day after I received it and I still can’t stop thinking or talking about it. The only reason I didn’t give this one a full five stars is because I was left feeling a bit hoodwinked. And that is both a good thing and an unsatisfying thing. The conclusion was moving and fanciful and the design the author leaves us with is truly enchanting, but I also felt conflicted about it because I wanted the realism too. But seriously, I’m being picky, and if I’m still dwelling on it days ... weeks later, then it was a job well done! Another phenomenal read by this author.

AMAZING FIVE STAR READ!!! How do you write a review on a book that blew you way without spoiling it for everyone else?!?! Honestly, it is next to impossible. This book was AMAZING, but if I tell you all those parts it will give away the entire book. You MUST read it and submerge yourself into the world of Holden and Lily. The minute I read the reference to the zodiac sign, “Virgo - Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, destined to live half her life in the darkness and half in the light”, I knew I was hooked! I was in love with this book well before the end of chapter one. I read non-stop to about 40% and I had to force myself to put it down to go back to “real life”. It was torture because I wanted to know more, to find out what was happening and to sink deeper in to the lives of the characters. It was written with Mia’s customary flare of heart felt descriptions and emotions. As I read, I knew this book was already added to my ultimate favorite books list. She seamlessly wove the tale together, twisting and turning the story line into things I did not see coming. Darkness, light, grief, insanity, mystery, suspense, despair, joy, pain, love. It’s all there. But most of all, love. A deep, soul connecting love between two people that left me spellbound. Mia does not disappoint with this story!!! My mind was left spinning at the end. I fact I re-read the last few chapters several times just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. So got get it NOW! You will not be disappointed!!!
