Murder? In Ponte Vedra?
A group of citizens want to incorporate the community of Ponte Vedra, including Palm Valley. Dr. Mary Paul and others in Palm Valley are adamantly opposed. Many in Ponte Vedra, for financial reasons, do not want to incorporate. They join together to try to defeat the referendum in September.
The local county commissioner, who actively supports incorporation, decides not to run for office again. Dr. Paul is encouraged to run for the seat at her boat parade party. Shortly after the party, one of the guests who had committed to work against incorporation is found dead in her pool on the ocean front.
The woman's husband had been killed in London a year earlier. She willed her estate in Ponte Vedra to St. John's charities to be administered by Dr. Paul, who arranges an estate sale of her belongings. The woman's homes in London and New York are broken into and files searched, but nothing else is disturbed.
The plot revolves around the investigation into the woman's death, the estate sale, and who may have been involved in the husband's death. Who is looking for the husbands papers? What is in the papers? The beauty of the Intracoastal Waterway and the oceanside community of Ponte Vedra make a wonderful setting for this fast-paced Florida novel.

About the Author

Dr. Kohnke, while a professor at New York University, spent a good part of each year at her home on the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Valley, Florida. The love of the waterway lured her into early retirement. She began a new lifestyle, becoming active in her community when she wasn’t fishing, working in her large yard and tending her German Shepherds, until she was elected as a County Commissioner.
She is an advocate of the environment and has worked to preserve the wetlands, birds, animals and trees. She fears the rapid growth in Florida will leave little of its charm for future generations. After her term in office, she again retired to her fishing, increased her golfing and began sharing her love of Florida and its inhabitants, even the two-legged ones, in these fictional stories.
