Overview

From Claire Cook, New York Times bestselling author of the novel-turned-romantic comedy movie starring Diane Lane and John Cusack, comes Must Love Dogs: Hearts & Barks, Book 7 of the heartwarming and hilarious Must Love Dogs series.

In the charming beach town of Marshbury, Valentine's Day is in the air. But preschool teacher Sarah is feeling more relationship-challenged than ever. She just wants to survive February, the longest-shortest month of the year. John wants to elope, but it's not exactly easy to find someone to watch their ever-growing four-legged pack, which now consists of two dogs and five cats.

Teacher assistant and housemate Polly's baby bump is growing, too, and it's a constant reminder to Sarah that everybody else and their goat seem to be able to get pregnant like it's no big deal at all. Cupid's arrows are misfiring everywhere, and even Sarah's bossy big sister Carol's marriage could be heading for trouble. And Bayberry Preschool has declared a moratorium on Valentine's Day candy, so who's leaving those conversation hearts taped to the classroom door?

In the seventh chapter of the Must Love Dogs series, Hearts and Barks, we once again share in the misadventures of the Hurlihy family. It feels like going to a family reunion and part of my extended family. Here we find the family in their usual state of dysfunction dealing with dual showers, diplomatic handling of Valentine's Day in Pre K and suffer with Sarah as she and John hit a bump in the road. This is a cozy read that left me with a smile on my face. I highly recommend it to everyone.

The Hurlihy family taking on Valentines Day the only way they know how; with lots of chaos, craziness, and non-stop comical adventures. While all the furbabies have settled in nicely, The family is still getting used to the new living arrangements. Sarah is getting amazingly proficient in fortune telling by radio. Polly is very ready to pop, literally and figuratively. The biggest take away I got was that family is not confined to blood relatives. It is all those you love, your tribe. Claire Cook, amazing, feel good author. I wait in anticipation for each book to come out. The storylines suck you right in at page one. It is the worst thing to finish the book, knowing you have to wait another year for the next adventure. Claire's book have been the only book to keep me fully engaged to where I finish the book in a weekend. As a slow reader, this is an incredible feat! Hurry up with the next one Claire!
