"Un-freakin-believable!!" and "This is truly one of the best YA Paranormal novels that I have ever read..." - CafeOfDreamsBookReviews

"I just can't say enough how much I loved this book!"- InJuliesOpinion

"A fast-paced, intriguing start to the Shapes of Autumn series, My Wolf's Bane is an awesome read." - Susan Hatler, International bestselling author

NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: As with any Veronica Blade book, this is a ROMANCE NOVEL, meaning it's romance FIRST and everything else is secondary. Rated PG-13 for sexual situations and mild profanity.

Different species. Mortal enemies. It'll never work, but they'll die trying.

Autumn Rossi thought she was a normal teenager. Suddenly, she can outrun every critter in the forest, making her wonder if she's even human.

When the new guy at school, Zack de Luca, witnesses a questionable scene, he unfairly pins her as stuck-up. He acts like he hates her, yet he keeps bailing her out of trouble. Not only is Zack both insufferable and irresistible, he seems to sniff her anytime he gets close.

As passion flares between them, Autumn isn't sure which is more dangerous: her psycho ex-boyfriend, or falling for Zack - who's risking his life just by being near her.

See the book trailer:

The smell of unwashed wolf closed in on me, fur tickling my skin and fetid breath in my face. I trembled, hot tears burning my eyes. The wolf snarled and I scrambled back as he leapt toward me.

"Autumn. Autumn, wake up." Zack pulled me off the pillow by my shoulders.

I lifted my head and rubbed my eyes, trying to wipe away the mental fuzz. But I was aware enough to notice my comforter wasn't anywhere near us, certainly not separating me from him. I must have kicked it off during my nightmare.

"Are you okay?" Zack was sitting directly in front of me, his thighs straddling mine, heat from his bare skin radiating through me.

I nodded.

He exhaled in relief and leaned back to sit on his heels. "Heard you scream and I ran up here. Been calling your name over and over, but you wouldn't wake up. Scared me for a minute there."

I'd been having that same dream where I was being chased. "I was running from wolves."

He brushed a finger down my cheek. "It was just a dream."

"More like a nightmare," I whispered, my gaze locking onto his. He wore nothing but a pair of boxers. As my ragged breath slowed, I realized the only other thing between us was my threadbare tank top and skimpy panties.

"Autumn." His breathing quickened and he growled so low it sounded like a purr. Then he tilted my face to meet his and drew closer until I felt his breath on my skin. "You're too beautiful."

Interesting story..... Title: My Wolf’s Bane Author: Veronica Blade Genre: Young Adult/New Adult/Paranormal Romance/Fantasy Format: Paperback Pages: 389 Rating: 4 Setting: High School Main Characters: Autumn, Zack Supporting Characters: Maya, Trevor, Daniel, Gina Summary: Autumn, about to turn eighteen, hopes that she is able to graduate with the rest of her class in just a few months. Having moved so much in her life, spending only a few months in one spot at a time, she’s looking forward to turning eighteen and maybe staying in one spot. She finally has some great friends, although breaking up with her boyfriend is a priority, she doesn’t know the reason behind the constant moving. She somehow convinces her parents to let her stay while they travel to her dad’s next job. Experiencing freedom for the first time seems like a dream come true. That is until weird things start happening to her body, her ex-boyfriend harassing her, and the new boy at school, Zack, saving her all the time but judging her incorrectly. With so many unknowns and unexpected shifting abilities, plus falling for someone she can’t have what’s a girl to do? Thoughts: Mmmm…Interesting. I liked the pace of this story, very fast and easy to get lost in. Lots of questions left unanswered which makes me want the next book. I liked the characters, it was like any high school experience with the different groups. The thing that confused me was when Autumn’s parents agreed to leave her while they went and did jobs. At first it made sense, they would be back in 4 days and weren’t too happy about it but after that they decided to stay away longer. It was obvious that they kept moving to stay safe for some reason which I think I figured out but then it just stopped. I’m pretty sure her parents are shifters and because of the hierarchy in the paranormal world they would be slaves, so the constant moving made sense. That was pretty much the only unbelievable part of the book. Otherwise it was a very good story and I look forward to what happens next. I won a free copy from GoodReads Giveaways.

MORE OF MY BOOK REVIEWS: Once I read the book’s description I immediately wanted to read it! I love books that have paranormal romance and just romance in general. Why? Because the imagination and creativity that goes into these types of books is incredible; truly fascinating. Yes, there are millions of shapeshifter/paranormal books in the world that have werewolves, vampires, etc., yet no two books are the same. As you begin reading, it’s just like any other high school romance story that involves a girl, her crazy boyfriend (soon to be ex) and a hot new guy. Yet, as you continue to read you start to notice it’s not what you first thought. So it all starts when Zack de Luca saves Autumn Rossi from tripping and humiliating herself in front of everyone at school. Not so bad, right? Well it so happens Autumn’s boyfriend, Daniel, witnesses the whole situation and decides to put the new guy in his place. Autumn’s too shocked to do anything, until it’s too late. Zack already has an impression of her, and it isn’t a good one. Apparently, Zack isn’t interested in having Autumn in his welcoming committee. Autumn gets the impression Zack hates her and she couldn’t be more right. Yet, every time Autumn finds herself in trouble, he’s always there, helping her out. She starts the notice things about her that aren’t normal and guess who’s there helping her through it all? Nope, not Daniel. It’s Zack. Apparently, they may have something in common. Yet, it’s something that’ll never work in their favor, something that’ll keep them apart. Well, more like Zack apart from Autumn. While I loved Autumn’s character, I couldn’t help but cringe every time she kept throwing herself at Zack; facing his endless rejections. I have more pride than that. I understand that she was slowly starting to fall for him and that Zack was only keeping his distance to keep them both safe, mostly for her sake. I also get that it’s love and people would do anything for love, even if that meant pushing the one you love away. But, I wouldn’t gladly accept them with open arms, I’d make them work for it. (Just saying!) Overall, the book was a good read. I give it a 4/5 and with the way the book ended I’m glad there’s a sequel. I would of honestly pulled my hair out if there wasn’t. I need to know what the future has in store for both Zack and Autumn. I’m totally rooting for them! *smiley face*

It's not often that I turn down, or fail to enjoy, a werewolf story. There's just something about this hot, sexy beast, that I'm drawn too. And Zack was no exception.  Autumn walks out of the room and promptly bumps into a strange, extremely hot guy, only to have her boyfriend Daniel arrive on the scene, act like an arrogant jackass, telling him to keep his hands off his girlfriend, and leaving the new guy, Zack, with the opinion that Autumn is equally as obnoxious.  Autumn is appalled but let's Daniel lead her away so as not to make anymore of a scene. When she spots Zack at lunch, he looks at her with utter contempt. He appears to hate her, but yet always seems to be around when she needs someone, like when her car breaks down.  This is totally my type of book. Zack is a wonderful character, who seems to constantly be the knight in shining armour even though its completely against his nature. He continues to help and look out for Autumn, even knowing it could get both of them killed. Autumn and Zack's relationship begins as one of mutual dislike, but when they get pushed together when his cousin starts dating Autumn's friend, things gradually begin to change between them. Zack knows what's coming for Autumn and he wants to be there to help her through it. When Daniel goes from annoying ex-boyfriend to complete psycho, Zack is the only other person who knows the truth about him and can protect Autumn from him. This book won't be for everyone. There are the cliches that I know some people don't like. These don't bother me or impact in any way on my enjoyment of the book. In fact, they may actually make me enjoy it more. This is actually quite a sweet little romance, and I think anyone who likes that will enjoy it.  So, while this book wasn't perfect, I'm not going to nit pick. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

My Wolf's Bane is the first book in the new Shapes of Autumn series by Veronica Blade. If you love YA Paranormal Romances, then you will love this. Autumn is a teenage girl who always thought she was human. Odd changes start happening to her, but she's too afraid to mention it to her parents. They are already extremely over protective of her. A handsome new guy named Zack starts at Autumn's school. He is cold and distant with her, but she can't get him out of her mind. Every time she's stuck in a bind, he is always there at her rescue. For various reasons, they end up spending a lot of time together. Autumn is falling for Zach and doesn't understand why he is keeping her at a distance. She keeps feeling heartbroken and rejected. Turns out, it doesn't matter how Zack feels for her – they are not supposed to be together anyway. The romance was the main focus in this book, which I liked. I always love when the romance is front and center. The characters had great chemistry and everything happened slowly to draw out that sexual tension. There was a background plot happening as well that added danger and suspense to the mix. Luckily, there was no cliffhanger. There were some unanswered questions though, especially with Autumn's parents, so I'm hoping these will be addressed in the next book. I think that werewolf and shape-shifter lovers will really enjoy this story.

So one word that pops into my mind about this book is fan-freaking-tanstic. It has everything that I love about paranormal romance and YA wrapped up into one. I am not one that does spoilers in a review but this is a must read in you like this genre. This sweet romance had me staying up all night to read. Cannot wait for the second one in this story.

This book was fun! Good story and epic romance.  Some light cursing and a bit sexy, but still good for teens.
