He was more than just a man...

Dr. Elizabeth Parker didn't like wild, dangerous men...yet she still found herself falling for sexy Navy SEAL Sawyer Cage. He was her exact opposite--a man she should definitely stay away from, a man who lived for the thrill of danger...but he was also the man she found herself wanting more than any other.

But their secret relationship ended in heartbreak when Sawyer was killed on a mission. Grieving for him, the last thing Elizabeth ever expected was to find Sawyer listed as a test subject for the top secret government project she was heading--a project called Lazarus.

For years, Elizabeth had worked feverishly to unlock the secrets of life and death, and with her Lazarus formula, she finally thought she'd made a break-through. Only she never expected to use Lazarus on her lover.

But the choice is taken out of Elizabeth's hands...

Sawyer is given the Lazarus formula, and he's transported to a remote government facility. At that facility, Sawyer wakes once more, only he's not the same man. He's stronger, he's faster, his reflexes and his senses are ten times better than an average man's. The government calls Sawyer a super soldier... Elizabeth still calls him...hers.

Unfortunately, Sawyer has no memory of his life before Lazarus. All he knows is that something about the sexy doctor awakes a primal response in him. He wants her, and he'll do anything to possess her. Soul-deep, he feels that she was meant to be his.

Death waits in the darkness.

But something is wrong inside the Lazarus facility. The test subjects are holding back secrets, and danger seems to lurk in the air. The Lazarus subjects are super-human now, and some of those subjects have a very, very dark side. Twisted cravings drive them to the very edge of sanity. Can Sawyer keep Elizabeth safe from the madness around them...or will the growing darkness consume them both?

Never read this author before, an will not be the last. This is a first in a series of super soliders who come back from death with super inhanced abilities from a scientific formula. Although some came back to life with bad traits as well, which is dangerous for everyone!! This story does kind of have simularities of the movie, "Universal Solider", with actors Van Damme and Lundgren. Still a good romance, but found myself remembering that movie while reading : ) This has 217 nook pages, with a sample of the next book at the end. It is filled with action, suspense, steamy loving, conflict, LOTS of secrets, but overall great read.****

4.25 stars-- NEVER LET GO is the first instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult LAZARUS RISING paranormal/sci-fi romantic suspense series focusing on a group of enhanced soldiers. This is scientist Dr. Elizabeth Parker, and former Navy SEAL Sawyer Cage’s story line. Told from several third person perspectives including Sawyer and Elizabeth NEVER LET GO introduces the some of the back story and history regarding a secret military experiment known as the Lazarus Project. Having suffered a terrible loss as a child, Dr.Elizabeth Parker experimented with reanimating the dead but never expected her ‘project’ to become part of a military program for enhanced soldiers, killing machines with no emotions, no memory, and the ability to come back from the dead. Enter former Navy SEAL and the man Elizabeth loves Sawyer Cage. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Elizabeth and Sawyer, and the fall-out as the truth about the Lazarus Project reveals a more sinister and deadly experiment than anyone could have imagined. Sawyer Cage died, not once but twice, but each time our hero returns with stronger abilities and memories of a past he is desperate to remember. Meeting Dr. Elizabeth Parker stirs something deep within Sawyer’s subconscious; memories of a time when he loved the woman who once controlled his heart. Elizabeth Parker is desperate to stop the Lazarus Project from going forward but our heroine will soon discover that reanimating the dead comes with dangerous side-effects. The relationship between Sawyer and Elisabeth is one of second chances but a relationship destroyed by secrets, lies and the death of our story line hero. Sawyer struggles to remember why Elizabeth is so familiar yet not; in her presence Sawyer slowly begins to remember a little more about his past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to psychiatrist Dr. Cecelia Gregory; Sawyer’s best friend and fellow soldier Flynn Haddox, and Bryce King; General Jamison, Dr. Landon Meyer, and project backer Wyman Wright. Flynn and Cecelia’s story line is next in KEEP ME CLOSE. Cynthia Eden’s LAZARUS RISING series has a familiar formula especially for fans of Christine Feehan’s GHOSTWALKER series. The similarities are numerous; the action is exciting; the growing powers are just beginning to be revealed. From a power hungry government faction wanting super soldiers willing to obey without question, to the telepathic abilities of the ‘pack’, the resemblance to Feehan’s GWs is plentiful and recognizable. The requisite power hungry but mysterious psychopath is present and accounted for. NEVER LET GO is a story of secrets, lies, power and control; a story of betrayal, vengeance, imprisonment and escape; a tale of enduring love in death and life. The premise, although familiar, is impassioned and energetic; the characters are colorful, charismatic and lively; the romance is impassioned, seductive and hot.

What would you do if you had the knowledge to bring back the dead? Will you use that knowledge or will you let nature takes it course? Well in Never Let Go a gripping romantic suspense by one of my favorite author Cynthia Eden. We shall find out what will happen if this knowledge was a viable one. Never Let Go is book one in Cynthia Eden new series in Lazarus Rising. This is a title that you just don’t want to pass up. The story begins with Dr. Parker who at a young age lost everything that meant the world to her. Her parents ever since then, Dr. Parker has been working on a project for the government to battle death. She finally found a formula that will work. But just like anything some are inpatient to test her formula. However, Dr. Parker is not so inpatient she is willing to risk life. She was certainly not willing to risk the one man she came to love. But when her lover was killed on a mission, she was beside her self when she found that her lover was listed as a test subject for Lazarus. But when one mission goes wrong, the choice was taken out of her hands. Never Let Go a gripping romantic suspense with characters that you will just fall in love with. I just wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. This is a book that set the bar high for Keep Me Close, the next title in the Lazarus series. I would recommend this title for any serious reader who loves romantic suspense.

When I pick up a book by this author I know it's going to be well written and full of steam and can I just say from the first scene the chemistry shared by this couple is off the charts ! There's no slow buildup here but an explosion of passion that completely surprised me but then again this new series is a whole new departure. Yes I'm used to her marvellous paranormal stories and I even occasionally read the romantic suspense books but this time it's kind of a fusion of both genres and boy does it work beautifully. Sawyer is badass and honestly I can't think of any other way to describe him. Well I could say he's brave, determined oh and very possessive but that possibly sounds like so many other alpha type heroes so I'm sticking with badass but I will maybe add dead ! What ? Yes Elizabeth is this brilliant scientist who has managed to create a serum that can do the impossible and reanimate the dead but you've probably guessed by now that there's a few side effects. A huge rise in aggression is just the start of the problems as these super soldiers are faster, stronger oh and enhanced psychically too. Now I'd like to say that everything works out ok but where's the fun in that as this story takes us deep into murky waters with psychotic killers, greedy manipulating money men and of course a romance that is intense. It's the first book so other characters are introduced that will no doubt be brought back to further expand this story. For now though there is some closure for Sawyer and Elizabeth as they reforge their bond but things will never be quite the same. A must read for those who enjoy this authors work and not too long to wait for the next book Keep Me Close. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.

5 - ”Intense is an understatement.” Stars! Nothing gives me more pleasure than starting a new series by Cynthia Eden, given that this is RS, with a bit of a paranormal twist, I was hooked from the first chapter of Sawyer and Elizabeth’s story. I suppose you would say the romance between this couple is built around amnesia of sorts, Sawyer literally returns from the dead, and what follows is a race against time in all sorts of ways. Sawyer on a subliminal level immediately recognizes something familiar about Elizabeth when they are reintroduced after he has been given the Lazarus Formula, but having had his memory effectively wiped out from the process he struggles to remember anything. Something that breaks Elizabeth’s heart for a second time, first she loses the man she loves, and now he has no memory of her. "Something is between us. Something about you gets to me. And I can’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you." But all is not well with the Lazarus Formula, and the side effects are more far reaching than Elizabeth and the rest of the people involved are aware of, something Sawyer and the rest of his team have made sure of, and as the book progresses you realize that these men are now more than just Super-Soldiers. But someone at the facility is killing people, and the finger is immediately pointed to Sawyer and his team. "I think I’m Frankenstein." As always, I devoured this book, the author set the scene well, and started the series off by giving Sawyer and Elizabeth their reconnection as well as introducing the rest of the players to the game. I think there are likely to be a few more books to come, bearing in mind what has happened so far and the amount of questions that are still left unanswered. "It’s not over yet." Keep Me Close; Flynn and Cecelia’s story is due at the end of October, and I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes us with this series.

I love a strong, dominant protective hero and Sawyer is all that and more! He’s a super soldier, enhanced, and gifted with special abilities that will enable him to keep his woman safe. But does she need to be protected from him? While working on her Lazarus project for a secret government agency, Elizabeth falls in love with Sawyer. Their relationship must remain hidden and so they find stolen moments to be together. He is everything she never thought she’d want in a man and he belongs to her. Just as she belongs to him. When Sawyer’s mission goes terribly wrong, Elizabeth faces the worse horror imaginable. Suddenly, her project is being fast forwarded and this book takes off like a shot. From that moment on there is no slowing down. The action is fast, the drama is high and the suspense is intense. Through it all is the struggle this couple face as they attempt to hold tight to what they once had. Elizabeth’s greatest challenge, in my opinion, was learning whether she could trust Sawyer while discovering if he were the same man she once knew and loved. Sawyer is consumed with one thought. Elizabeth belongs to him and he must not hurt her. This is an amazing read that will keep you on the edge of your seat while causing your emotions to riot. If you like your hero a little damaged even as he’s protective, jealous and possessive of his woman, you’re going to love Sawyer as much as I did. There were times my heart just hurt for him. I knew Sawyer would never deliberately hurt Elizabeth, but I wasn’t sure how far the darkness in him would take him down. This is very fast paced story with incredible secondary characters and plenty of room for more awesomeness from this author. I loved this book and can’t recommend it enough! In.freakin.credible!!! This book was awesome! The idea of bringing soldiers back from death and making them into super soldiers is just so cool. Add in all the enhanced abilities and I was riveted. This author is known for my kind of Alphas so it’s no surprise that Sawyer is getting added to my favorites list. Even losing his memories when he gets brought back, he still felt the connection to her and did everything he could to protect her. I loved the idea of Sawyer falling inlove with Elizabeth all over again. Elizabeth proved her worth when she fought so hard to free Sawyer. She may be the creator of Lazarus but it’s no longer in her hands and now she has to find a way to help Sawyer and the other test subjects. This was such an exciting romantic suspense story that it had me devouring the pages. We also got to see a lot of Flynn and Cecelia who are the next in line in the series. Flynn has already proven he’ll do whatever it takes to keep Cecelia safe. There is so much potential for this series. I’m going to be waiting not so patiently for the author to publish each and every book she has plans for in Lazarus Rising. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Read it; Love it. Cynthia Eden has written another 5-star read! I plowed through this book in a single sitting - and now I am desperate for Keep Me Close to release. I loved the slow reveal of secrets; it built the suspense and kept me engaged. This gave me flashbacks of the show Dark Angel, which I miss so much. A top secret government project, forbidden romance, secrets and lots of passion make this a must read.

Every time I hear a book of Cynthia Eden’s is coming out, a chill races my spine, goose bumps pay a visit and the anticipation of waiting, reading and enjoying her fast paced romantic suspense is an adrenaline rush of pure orgasmic pleasure. Her latest and greatest series, “Lazarus Rising” will leave you wanting for more of the brilliant plot evolving around the super soldiers. First in the series, “Never Let Go” will defy the very adage of ‘till death do us apart’, as the brilliant and amazing Dr. Elizabeth Parker works on a formula that beats death, but at a loss of the only man she loves, Sawyer Cage. Sawyer Cage was resurrected from the dead, becoming a super enhanced soldier. Betrayed by the people he works for and a life he doesn’t remember, Elizabeth Parker ignites feelings of hope of a life that was and can be now. Escaping the confines of the Lazarus compound, Sawyer and his friend Flynn will lay down their indestructible lives to protect the ones they love. An impressive start to a new series, Cynthia Eden does not leave a chance to be disappointed with her latest release. It only builds the anticipation of what the future is going to be for these super soldiers, as they battle the dark forces. There are secrets galore, suspense and romance add a radiant intensity, and Sawyer and Elizabeth bring the fireworks with their glorious chemistry. Received an ARC from the author and Hocus Pocus Publishing via Netgalley for an honest review.
