Book two in Cynthia Eden's Bad Things series follows a shifter assassin for the devil himself and a human woman who hates violence who is violently turned into a vampire. Their story was entertaining and passionate. The antagonist and conflict were intriguing. Julian is a rough-around-the-edges kind of man who lives a violent life and who knew from the start that he was the wrong man for Rose, but also knowing he couldn't walk away. Rose has tried to hate him for the choice he took from her, but he is still the man she fell for when she was a naïve human. Together they must stop the Collector from acquiring his next specimen, her. Along the way, he mates with her without telling her, she drinks angel blood which she should never have done, they rescue the other victims, find out who is the one who gave a human strong enough magic to cheat death and compel people to do his bidding, and of course have a happy ever after ending for the beast assassin of the devil and vampire who doesn't like violence. I enjoyed it a lot. Julian is the kind of male lead that is delicious and strong on every page he appears on. Rose is the perfect compliment to him, though it takes him a while to figure that out. Overall, a fun adventure and romance.

On the Prowl by Cynthia Eden is a fantastic paranormal romance that lured me in like prey, hypnotized me with her dark sexy shifters, gutted me with the deeply raw emotional plot but allowed me to make it out alive with my heart in tact after the unbelievable action scenes. In On the Prowl, we follow Julian (panther shifter) and Rose (vampire). Lots of deals are made with the Lord of the Dark and the Lord of the Light, and more paranormals are introduced. Just when I think I am aware of all types of paranormal creatures in stories, Eden throws in another one. I am not going to share the one we meet in this story here, but it's crazy cool. Or evil. I can't decide. Eden knows how to write tortured souls. You can't help but fall in love with them even when they don't see the good in themselves. Rose saw the good in Julian even though he constantly tried to prove her wrong. He saw Rose's true heart and not what she was told she would become. It saves them both at the end. It was such fun to follow Julian and Rose on their windy road of a romance and finally get it right. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that will suck you in from the beginning and not let you go until the vampire is finished with you, give On the Prowl a read.

4 - "You are the nightmare now." Stars! Cynthia Eden hits the ground running with the second book in her Bad Things series. We met Panther shifter Julian Craig in the first book in the series, and On The Prowl, gives you his story. As with all of Cynthia’s books, that are a running series, the bigger story is playing out around Julian and Rose’s reconnection. As a couple they have a few challenges to get past as things move along especially after Julian’s initial revelations in the prologue, as well as the life altering accident that causes him to make a decision that turns Rose into something she never actually believed existed beforehand. "I’m one of the monsters, love." The battle between dark and light is playing out between Luke Thorne and his brother Leo, as Julian and Rose realize that there is more than one enemy out there, and a game as simple as Simon says… has far more dangerous results and repercussions than they originally expected. "Even the most powerful beings have weaknesses." This book almost in a way felt like the author was setting up the series again, with the continuation of the original story, there are also a few introductions of new characters in On The Prowl as well, that look likely to have their own books in the future if the authors note at the end of the book is anything to go by. As usual, I cannot say much about the actual story line as it would give too much away in relation to the overall plot, but if you are a fan of this author you pretty much know that you are in for a thrill-a-minute, rip roaring adventure, with an alpha male, a sassy heroine and plenty of action along the way. She doesn’t disappoint on any level, and has opened plenty of avenues to explore further in future books. He was as far from a white knight as it was possible. He was death. He was the monster that she should have feared from the very beginning… Rayce Lovell, another sexy alpha shifter is up next in, Broken Angel which is due for release in December, he has played quite a big part in the first two books, but we don’t know much about him as yet, so I am looking forward to seeing how his story with Lila plays out. A Must Read Florida Keys Rose Kinley never intended to be one of the most feared creatures walking the earth. She was once human that fell in love with a mysterious stranger. She lost her humanity and died only to come back as a vampire when she got caught in a paranormal war. Rose now has a choice. She can try and continue to be the good girl or she can let her darkness out to play. It just might finally be time for her step into the dark. Julian Craig is a panther shifter that is on a mission. He needs to protect Rose at all costs. He literally made a deal with the devil so that Rose could have a second chance as a vampire since it was his fault that she lost her human life. Julian knows that he needs to let his beast out if he is to have any chance for protecting the only woman that ever touched his battered soul when Rose is targeted by a paranormal collector. Julian is more than ready to show the world just what kind of monster he truly is even if Rose is afraid of the darkness she carries. Julian isn’t afraid of the dark and the monsters that wait in the shadows will bow to him. This is the next book in a series that proves yet again what an amazing writer this author is. The characters are intriguing and move the story at an extremely fast pace. It will also have readers wanting the next book in the series like right now. While this is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone readers will find it much better if they read the books in order. This is must read for readers that love paranormal romances.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received the ebook for an honest review The cover is awesome! Those eyes are mesmerizing! This is the 2nd book in the Bad Things series. It is a novel for adults due to the steamy content and violence. I recommend reading the books in this series in order, so you can understand references made and in general just make it more awesome. Rose and Julian’s story is actioned packed. This whole concept of Light and Dark being interpreted as black and white is true to life. I love how this book shows you that Dark doesn’t mean being evil and Light doesn’t necessarily mean everything you do is goodness! I guess I have a fondness for Luke, Julian, and Rayce. I never want to spoil a story for someone else, but I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to read Rayce’s story! I highly recommend this book to all paranormal fans because this book has an assortment of them!

3.5 stars----ON THE PROWL is the second installment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult BAD THINGS paranormal, romance series. This is panther shifter Julian Craig, and newly-made vampire Rose Kinley’s story line. ON THE PROWL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory as Luke Thorne (The Devil in Disguise) returns as the Lord of the Dark. Told from several third person perspectives ON THE PROWL follows the once human Rose Kinley as she endeavors to survive the world as a vampire. When our heroine is killed in a hail of gunfire meant to kill her boyfriend Julian Craig, Rose wakes up as a newly made vampire thanks to the Lord of the Dark, and repentant panther shifter Julian Craig. Believing herself to be a monster, Rose takes off for places unknown and finds herself imprisoned by a covert government group known as Operation Night Switch (ONS) claiming that paranormals will make the world a safer place. Upon her escape, Rose comes face to face with Julian Craig, the man she blames for her undead life. What ensues are Rose’s attempts to stay clear of Julian Craig, and the search for the man who is abducting supernatural beings, using human minions to do his service. With Rose as the next target Julian is unwilling to leave her side. Julian is a supernatural assassin; a killing machine that finds himself following orders to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love. Rose is a reluctant vampire who is unable to accept the ‘dark’ side of her life, but a woman who is drawn to the man she believes destroyed her life. When Luke’s brother Leo-the leader of the light paranormals is unable to locate a missing angel, Rose offers herself up as bait to trap the person they believe is responsible for the missing angel. The relationship between Julian and Rose is a second chance romance between a powerful shifter and a newbie vampire. Julian believes he has found his mate with Rose Kinley but Rose isn’t willing to accept her fate as a member of the undead. Our heroine is a little naïve and immature when it comes to detecting good vs evil believing humans could not be the monsters of her nightmares. The $ex scenes are seductive and intense; as a shifter Julian likes things a little rougher in the bedroom. We are introduced to a number of supernatural beings including a wolf shifter (Rayce), an angel (Lila), a witch, a muse, and a gargoyle. Rayce and Lila’s story will be told next in Broken Angel. The requisite evil has many faces when someone known as the ‘Collector’ sets his sights on the supernatural powers. ON THE PROWL is an imaginative story line but lacked a little something in the telling. I would have liked a little more background information about Julian and Rose; and we know very little about Rose’s time with the ONS- a group headed by someone Rose once knew. The character of Rose made for some disappointing scenarios when she is unable to let go of her preconceived notions about monsters vs humans thusly placing herself and the others directly in harm’s way. There is a potential war on the horizon between Leo and Luke; and Rayce is determined to find the angel that calls to his heart. The premise is interesting; the characters are enthusiastic; the romance struggles towards a happily ever after.

Rose has been dating Julian for awhile. He takes her away for a romantic weekend and drops a huge bombshell…he is a panther shifter. She tries to get away, scared out of her mind, and makes it to the front door. When all of the sudden bullets pierce the wood and go into Rose. She is dying and Julian makes a deal with the devil, to save her life. When she wakes, there are no holes, and she is thirsty for blood. She is freaked out that she is now one of the monsters that go bump in the night. She runs and ends up caught by her brother, who works for Uncle Sam. They keep her in a cell and do experiments on her. She gets away and her brother is killed so thats one less crazy after her. She is hunting in a bar when she is almost kidnapped but Julian is there to save her. The guy is known as the COLLECTOR and she is the last piece he needs to finish his creation. But Julian has made another deal..to find an angel and he’ll get what he thinks Rose would want. He has to stay by her side 24/7, not a problem for him because he knows Rose is his mate. Sexy vampires, gorgeous panther, a wolf, gargoyle, angels, witches, and crazy man..oh my. Hilarious. The secondary characters are awesome. Can’t wait for their stories. Made me laugh out loud. Smoking hot sex scenes. If you read one book, make it this one. *RECEIVED COPY FROM NETGALLEY*

Julian Craig is a Panther shifter, the Lord of the Dark's assassin and friend, and a man on a mission. The night that an enemy of Julian's tried to kill him and ended up killing Rose Kinley is the day that everything changed. In order to save Rose's life, he made a deal with the devil, or Luke Thorne who we met in the first book, and essentially sold his soul. Rose is his mate and is willing to do anything as long as she's alive, even if that means they're never together. In order for Luke to save her life he was forced to turn her into a vampire. Rose has learned to live with being a vampire, doesn't like it, but she tries to maintain her humanity and help anyone she can. In the beginning she was afraid to take blood, and got the help she needed from Luke after she ran from Julian. Now she is targeted by someone called the "Collector", and Julian has been tasked to stay by her side 24/7, as her bodyguard. Together they track the "Collector" and search to rescue his captives. In the end, will Rose choose to stay by Julian's side or will she leave to live her own life outside the darkness? Rose and Julian were intriguing characters in Luke's book and I couldn't wait to see them get their story. After Rose escaped her prison where she was tortured she still had a really trusting personality to her and then she was drugged and almost kidnapped but she asked Julian to save the guy. If either of those things happened to me I wouldn't be trusting, but she thinks everyone is still good. Rose's character was almost unbelievable, I can't believe I'm saying that about a Cynthia Eden character but after everything Rose has been through there is just no way she can still be that innocent and kind. All the shifters and paranormals on the other hand, they were well written and Julian maintained that alpha-ness from the first book. I can't wait to see what she does with Leo, its like he's oblivious to what is going on around him, he keeps helping the humans and nothing good has come out of that so far. Its like Luke said "You think you're on the right side. Full of justice and might, but you don't understand anything." That's where he keeps failing, Luke understands and helps/protects his paranormals where Leo's help with the humans end up with pain, suffering, and betrayal. Leo needs someone to help show him what Luke has been telling him. I am also looking forward to Rayce and Lila's story, that should be very interesting. On the Prowl is a good book, incomparable to most of her others which are usually awesome, but still a good read. I recommend it. Received ARC in exchange for honest review from NetGalley

On The Prowl is book two in the Bad Things series and is Julian and Rose's story. I absolutely loved the first book and I was worried that Julian's story wouldn't be able to compare with Luke and Mina's. I never should have doubted Cynthia Eden. This book was just as good! I loved every minute of it! You can read this book as a standalone but why would you? Start with book one first. You've got all the main characters, except Mina, from book one in book two. If you haven't read book one yet, this story is about twin brothers, one who rules the light and one who rules the dark. You'd think you would be rooting for the team of light but things aren't as they seem. The author has revealed who the first four books will be about and she is focusing on a member of the dark for each book yet it seems she is also pairing each with one from light. In both books, you'll find that the supposed monsters actually have honor and can feel love. I have my theories on where this series is headed and I can not wait for the rest of the books to publish. I'm loving Cynthia Edens imagination and I can't wait to read what she comes up with next! ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
