One Night of Scandal by Elle Kennedy

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

The wrong man never felt so right...

Ex-fighter Reed Miller has been secretly lusting over his best friend's girl for months, but he refuses to jeopardize a friendship over a woman-especially one who doesn't like him all that much. Now that Darcy's on the market again, it's even more imperative to stick to his strict hands-off policy. But the sizzling attraction between them is too powerful to ignore, and once he's had a taste of her...all bets are off.

Darcy Grant is tired of walking the straight and narrow path. She's on the hunt for passion, and there's no denying Reed is just the man to give it to her. Although she has no interest in dating a bad boy, and certainly not her ex's best friend, it's impossible not to melt beneath Reed's skillful touch. Now it's just a matter of setting a few ground rules-and hoping her rule-breaking, sweet-talking bad boy agrees to follow them. But if she lets Reed into her bed, does she stand a chance of keeping him out of her heart?

## Another amazing book by Elle Kennedy. I enjoyed this book so much. The hero and heroine had fabulous chemistry. My only complaint was that the heroine ended up going after the hero in the end and it should've been the other way around after what he did and they way he treated her. Wow kudos to Ms. Kennedy for the hurt she conveyed during that scene. My heart actually skipped a beat when I read that. I will definitely read Gage and Reeds' stories again and look forward to AJ's story. Well done.

One Night Of Scandal is book two in the After Hours series by Elle Kennedy. Reed Miller is one of the three owners of the hot night club, Sin, along with his two best friends, Gage and Aj. He has lusted secretly over Aj’s girlfriend Darcy for months, always careful to keep his feelings hidden. He would never do that to his best friend. Darcy was off limits. So why was he seeing her in the club alone and it looked like she was flirting with other guys. He was shocked when she told him that she and Aj had called it quits, and that it was a mutual decision. He can’t believe she’s free. But still, his best friends ex-girlfriend is just as hands off as a current girlfriend. Darcy is a school teacher and feels like her life is about as predictable as it could be. She wants passion in her life. When she sees the look in Reed’s eyes, she thinks that even though Reed is known for his bad boy ways and is definitely not boyfriend material, why not have a fling with him. A sexy, hook up only fling with no emotional ties involved. Only this is easier said than done when hearts are involved. Reed knows once will never be enough with Darcy. He has wanted her for so long. So he decides to accept her fling. But he is determined to show her that there is more to him than just a fling. That he is boyfriend material as well. This is a sexy, fun little book. While Reed and Darcy fight the feelings between them, their club, Sin, is fighting to find the person that is selling drugs in their club, endangering everything Reed, Gage and Aj have worked for. I loved not only seeing Reed and Darcy’s hearts finally open to each other but also for Reed to finally accept that he is a changed man, a better man then he once was. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, One Night of Trouble, where Aj will finally get his own chance at a happy ever after.

My Thoughts: After the awesomeness that is One Night of Sin, I had to get my hands on One Night of Scandal. It was practically a no brainer. When you find a great book, your first instinct is to check out everything else by the author, especially the continuation in the series. And while I love love loved One Night of Sin, the feelings I have for One Night of Scandal were much grander. So, we've got Reed, the guy who's been pining over his best friend's girlfriend, Darcy. Even though Darcy and AJ are no longer together, the unwritten rule of not dating a friend's ex is still in play. The attraction, however, is impossible to ignore. Reed tries to resist, but Darcy pushes him into admitting how he feels... leading them into a kiss that throws their lives off balance. They think that's the end of it, especially considering the unwritten rule, but they can't stay away. Is there a chance that there's more to the two of them than meets the eye? One Night of Scandal is so captivating, it'll have you flipping pages quicker than normal. Reed and Darcy's chemistry is off the charts. It's not a lie that Elle Kennedy has quickly become a favorite, and she'll remain a favorite if she keeps writing such amazing stories. My Rating: Exceptional

I loved Gage and Skylar in the first book, but this one was pretty boring. I ended up skimming more as we got closer to the end. No real action and any conflict was surface only and juvenile. I am not inspired enough to read book 3.

Wow – another hot read in this series! After reading One Night of Sin, the first book in this series, I wasn't sure how Elle Kennedy was going to top her hero Gage, but Reed certainly gave him a run for his money! After watching the few scenes with Reed and Darcy in the first book I just knew there was going to be a good story behind why Reed was always so nasty to Darcy – and of course in this book we find out it’s because he’s been so attracted to her he couldn't let his guard down…not cool to be hitting on your best friend’s girl. But when Darcy and AJ breakup, Reed finds it harder and harder to keep his attraction under wraps. Darcy had the perfect boyfriend in AJ, but there was no spark, no passion…and AJ felt the same. Now she’s looking for a little excitement in her love life. She certainly doesn't expect to feel that spark with Reed, but once she does it’s hard to ignore. She knows Reed is a player – she’s seen him with his conquests all too often when she was with AJ….but she thinks that maybe this player is just what she needs to get a taste of that passion so she can move on.  When Reed and Darcy finally give in to their attraction, that spark turns in to a full blown inferno, which would be fine except for the fact that Darcy is Reed’s best friend’s ex…but even that isn't enough to keep them away from each other, and the “one time” just keeps repeating itself. Reed knows he is just a temporary thing for Darcy, but he’s set on changing her mind about him – but Reed’s guilt and Darcy’s image of Reed being a player seem to be stopping them from a happy ever after. Darcy was a great character. She was a teacher and it was great to see her interact with the kids in the afterschool program she coordinated. And through that, it was awesome to see Reed show a nurturing side, from his teaching the kids self-defense, to his participation in the big brother program. These two really seemed to bring out the best in each other which made them a great couple.  There was a little extra drama thrown in with the sub-plot of the drug deals happening in the club, but that was a very small part of the story and really just gave a good excuse for Reed and Darcy to find themselves alone in a dark corner. All in all, another hot, dirty-talking read by Elle Kennedy. I was given a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

As posted on The Smutty Kitty reviewed by KittyKelly 4 out of 5 Licks The continuation of the After Hours series gets right to the tension that we saw briefly between Darcy and Reed in One Night of Sin.  They try hard to fight what's clearly between them but you can only fight chemistry for so long.  After a small dry humping session in the corner of Reeds club Sin they try to steer clear of each other.  They both feel a bit guilty about their attraction since Darcy just got out of a relationship with one of Reed's best friends-AJ.  Darcy discovers her inner vixen whenever she's near Reed.  She just can't help but tease and push him all the while hoping he will finally break.  And when he finally does break it's so smoking hot they break the smoke detectors-well not really but read this book and you'll see what I mean.  Poor Reed has a bad boy reputation that he can't seem to shake.  He wants to prove to Darcy that he wants a serious relationship, but she's so busy trying to prove to him that she can do casual that she doesn't realize that's not what he wants.  It was a lot of fun watching these two fight and finally submit to their desires.  They do a lot to keep the excitement level up and Reed slowly proves to her that she's what he wants.  The end is so sweet I almost cried, but the epilogue brought back the fun, outgoing couple again.  Another great book from Elle and I'm definitely going to have to read more of her books.

Reed Miller had it bad for his best friends girl, Darcy Grant.  After Darcy and AJ broke up, he still couldn't have her because of that bro code that says you can't go after your best friends ex.  So, he stayed away from her.  Well, at least he tried to. This book is a light hearted, ultra sexy, afternoon romance.  Reed and Darcy are steaming up the windows and setting fire to the sheets...and the couch, and the car, and you get my meaning.  It was hard to watch this gorgeous, sexy, smart man struggle with being good enough.  He'd changed since he was younger but no one bothered to notice, which hurt him.  Now maybe his friends will open their eyes.  Thank you Elle Kennedy!  You write some fine alpha men!  I can't wait to read AJ's story. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Great second book in series! This is the second book in the series and follows on from 'One Night of Sin' and, as I'd hoped, continues with the same core characters, Gage, AJ and Reed who own and run their own nightclub, 'Sin'. They all have history in competitive fighting. In the first book, AJ was going out with Darcy and Reed was being something of a 'manwhore'. This book tells the story of Reed fighting to deny his attraction to Darcy in any way he can. Both feel guilty because their attraction to each other is mutual, even though AJ and Darcy have split up. They are in an emotional quagmire, struggling to determine how to get out and keep their friendship with AJ whilst acknowledging their rampant chemistry. Can love find a way to bring these two together? You'll just have to read the book to find out!  I really like it when all the books in a series are currently available, enabling readers to continue reading without having to wait for the next saga to be released. That's certainly true with this trilogy as the third book is now available, too - review coming shortly!  Thanks to the author and publishers for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

One Night of Scandal, Elle Kennedy Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Contemporary Romance I really enjoyed the first novel in this trio. The books cover three friends who co own a nightclub, and this time its Bad Boy Reed that’s featured. He’s had a problems for a while – his best friend AJ’s girlfriend...he’s really, really attracted to her. That's not part of the bro code though, so he stays away from her when he can and is brusque to the point of rudeness when he can’t. Now they’ve split up and she’s in another club clearly looking for someone new. Darcy’s always been the good girl and while she loves AJ and he her, there was no passion between them, it was like love of family, sibling, best friend rather than lover, and they agreed it wasn’t working. Now she’s decided maybe its time to look for a bad boy, take a walk on the wild side, she’s tired of always being the good girl. When she’s spotted by Reed something breaks between them, and though she always thought he disliked her its clear that's the opposite of the truth! The sexual tension between them is almost solid, the air is thick with it and they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. She knows he’s not one for relationships, that nothing long term will happen, but maybe its time she gave in and just had a fling, knowing it’ll go no-where. If she is aware of that and sets the parameters she can protect her heart. They embark of a short term, no strings, no dates quick and hot sex affair. Its sizzling and the more they see of each other the more they want. Seems both of them got it wrong but neither will admit it – and then just as they both realise they have deeper feelings for each other and maybe they could make something it all goes wrong. Cue a major split and much heartache. ( yes, you know how I love that bit!) Can they get past the misunderstandings and get together or are they doomed to be apart? Its a fun read, very real feeling but...somehow it didn’t quite get me in the way the first book did. The characters were great, felt real and I love the club connection that links the books, it felt like meeting an old friend when Gage was mentioned, and its clear the others will crop up in all books, and that’s something I enjoy. Its a shortish read, but as we already know the setting and the characters it means Elle can jump straight into the romance part. Parts seemed a little forced though, but the sex scenes were certainly hot and well done. The big break up seemed a bit storm in a teacup to me, I really needed stronger reasons. Still, it was a solid easy read and a good way to lose myself in a book. Stars: Four, a fun read, though a little light. ARC supplied by publishers

3.5 Stars  ~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog ONE NIGHT OF SCANDAL is a friends to lovers story that is turned up a 100 notches on the scorching scale. Darcy Grant has just gotten out of a relationship and is looking to jump straight into a whirlwind night to forgot all about it. However, Reed Miller, her ex’s best friend is standing in the way of that. Instead of letting her dance the night away with a new stranger, he steps in, wanting to know why she is cheating on his best friend. When he finds out about their recent break up, Reed is surprise to find that he wants Darcy and has wanted her for a long time. With her a free agent, Reed is battling his lusts and his desire to sweep in a snag her for himself. Elle Kennedy is known for her hot and scorching sex scenes, but this one really amps it up. Right from the beginning I thought that the sexual tension between the hero and heroine to be quite intense, so it’s really no surprise to find that this one was particularly hot. One thing I would have liked though is to have everything slow down a little bit. Reed and Darcy are full throttle, but because of the circumstances of how they know each other, it seems quite fast. I did, however, love that AJ was open to them being together. I think it took out the guilt factor a little more and made it easier to accept. Since I haven’t read the first book in the series yet, I think I will definitely need to make some time to read it now. As a fan of Elle Kennedy’s writing style and sultry romances, I’m sure there is plenty to love with the After Hours series. *ARC provided by publisher
