"Out & About Town" was written in two different locations. The beginning contains poems which Jen wrote shortly before leaving her hometown of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.
The second part, and majority of the book, was written after she became a new resident of Sellersburg, Indiana.
In "Out & About Town," Jen focuses on different questions and the aspects of her "new life."
