I really liked this book. Rett is a wonderful, proud man who works hard on his ranch and is really struggling to get by financially. He could have been wealthy and leased some of his land to the oil companies but he wanted to keep his land as it had always been. His brother who recently died hired Jenny to work for minimum wages as a typist, housekeeper, and cook. She lost her job in NY as an interior designer when she caught pneumonia and was in desperate need of work. She always dreamed of living in Texas. Rett hired her and was so sweet to her. She secretly got a part time second job to help Rett with expenses but his pride was hurt when she offered him the money and he said some hurtful things to her. She left within minutes without letting anyone know. Three months later Rett shows up at her job as a very wealthy man. He wants her to redecorate his house, she declines but he tells her he will make her new boss' business suffer, so she agrees. He apologizes for his harsh words and tries very hard to get her to forgive him. His new housekeeper tells her he would go and sit in Jenny's old room and wouldn't let anything be touched. And I loved the elevator scene.
