Phases

Appearing for the first time on Nook, "Phases" was the Wallace Stevens's first-ever published poem. It appeared in the November 1914 issue of "Poetry," under the pseudonym Peter Parasol. "Phases" is a group of four short poems, and it shows off Stevens's skills as poet while also providing poignant criticism of World War I, which had begun earlier that year.
