About the Author

Philoponus (c. AD 490 – c. 570) was a Christian Neoplatonist in Alexandria who challenged Aristotelian theories. He wrote on a range of topics including philosophy, theology, mathematics and physics, and was consequently a highly influential figure in the world of science. Riin Sirkel is Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the University of Vermont, Canada. Martin Tweedale is Professor Emeritus at the University of Alberta, Canada.
