This is a wonderful, well-written, deeply moving story of a twelve-year-old prince and his journey through grief, great peril, and unexpected education. Since I was a teen I've had the same favorite fantasy, but Prince of Alasia is now my #2 favorite. I highly recommend this book to boys and girls, and anyone who wants to share in a journey of discovery with a likeable and sympathetic young prince and his best friend and bodyguard. (Makes me wish I had a bodyguard like Erik when I was their age!)
