If you like heartwarming, loving, HOT stories, you will enjoy this book. If you have read any of the other Shadowlands books, you will REALLY like this one. If you have read Beth and Nolans story, you will LOVE this book! I read it in one setting. LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!

Gotta love Nolanman and Beff . This book simply rocked. A wonderful follow up and set up for Uzuri's story! I cried my way through this book though so keep a box of tissues handy.

I absolutely and thoroughly loved and enjoyed reading the spectacular, heartbreaking and by far one of my favorite novels by the phenomenally talented Cherise Sinclair.
The love between the two characters Nolan and Beth is beautiful and Nolan will do anything and everything to protect his family. Beth is trying to protect two innocent boys from being physically and mentally abused by family members. Both Nolan and Beth fall for the two little boys and want to do everything in their power to keep them safe but in the child welfare system, blood family takes precedence over all.
Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written love story of Nolan, Beth, Grant, and Connor.

I read this in a day. I actually blew off plans because I just couldn’t put the book down. Beth and Nolan were close to my least favorite couple of the series. Yet after reading their second book, they are easily in my top two (hard to beat Sally and her Doms). I would LOVE to see this story continue as they add to their family. For now, I think I’ll re-read this a few times before moving on to the next book in line!

Ms. Sinclair always keeps you enraptured in the story! I read this book in three days. I love the plots of each story, and fall in love with the "Z clan" all over again, and really miss them when I am done with a book.

This was probably one of the more difficult books I've read on a personal level. I know just how hard it is going through fertility issues and that it's a subject you don't often see addressed in romance. I know, who wants to see a relationship struggle like that, but it's real and honest that not everyone can so easily have children when they choose or not choose. I can actually only think of two other instances where I've seen this addressed, but I digress...
Protecting His Own was heartbreaking at times, no question about that, but it was also uplifting in ways that I've come to expect from Cherise's writing. She always ensures that her characters have the love and support of the other Doms and subs from the Shadowlands, and that despite great adversity that her characters can find a way to make things work for them even if it isn't exactly in the ways they expect. I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried buckets for Beth and Nolan, because I can more than relate to how they feel as far as infertility goes. But, I also cried because I know that Beth has already had to endure so much in her life, and the thought of adding infertility to it physically pained me. I think this is what sets Sinclair apart from other BDSM authors though. Her books are character driven. It isn't so much about the BDSM scenes and the suspense, as it is about the character going through it and the emotions involved. I've seen this series progress into something that is truly wonderful to read, even through the tears, and I admire Cherise's ability to consistently make this series better with each new release. Protecting His Own was another quality installment to this series, and I'm really looking forward to the next book with Uzuri and finally figuring her out.

Love, love this author, she spins entertaining, spicy tales, HEA, and ALL the sex scenes are different so they never seem to get boring, quite and accomplishment considering how many books she has written of the sexy nature. Keep writing Cherise, your books have good plots, and quirky characters.

This was hard to read because the subject matter is touch but I couldn't put it down once I began to read. Totally engrossing and worth every penny and second of my time!!!

Beth and Nolan where two characters I loved the most; starting when Cherise originally wrote about them in Breaking Free. I was thrilled that they were getting a second story. I think out of all of the characters, Beth has stuck with me the most. She was so brave, and to now see her a few years later, living a life we weren’t sure she would ever have, is AMAZING. Yet, at the same time old scars still tend to rear their ugly head; Nolan being the perfect Dom for Beth, knows how to work things out and silence the demons in her head.
Cherise writes such beautiful relationships, it’s hard not to envy these them, and wish for the closeness her couples have. Most men are completely clueless to a woman’s emotional needs, my husband included; and have to be given step by step instructions. Cherise writes the perfect mind reading Doms, if only real life was so simple. Sigh.
Protecting His Own is such a beautiful story adding a wonderful conclusion to Beth and Nolan’s story. At the same time, it touches on hard issues so heartbreaking, I was in tears. It also has Cherise’s standard erotic flair, and new BDSM scene I have come to look forward to in every book. Let’s not forget the introduction of the new Masters to the Shadowlands.
There was nothing about this story I didn’t love and I wouldn’t be opposed to reading more books about past characters; I love visiting old friends. It was truly perfect and I am giving it 5 Huge Boundless Stars.....Sara

WOW. Best book of the whole series. I loved how Beth & Nolan have grown today and are still so in sync with each others wants and needs. I laughed and cried and was angry. Cherise, what great writing. I feel like they are family

As always Ms. Sinclair delivers a story that touches the
heart. I love that her stories are always good vs evil, and as it should be good always triumphs. That the heroes are Uber sexy doms and domes is just a bonus and the sweet, sometimes bratty subs who love them make the story complete.
If you haven't read any of the Shadow land series please start today, I recommend reading them in order.
Happy reading!

This is a wonderful novella by Cherise Sinclair! You'll laugh, cry (make sure you have TONS of tissues) and enjoy the glimpses of the Shadowlands community. Your heart will break, heal, and rejoice with Beth and Nolan as more of their relationship is shown. My only complaint is I wish it was longer! (Sorry, Cherise....)
