Overview

Twelve years ago, I gave up the love of my life because my family made the relationship impossible. Now that Ali has come back to me, I'm not going to give her up again.

It's been years since I've seen her, and I know she's hated me all this time. I never expected to see her working as an event planner for one of my father's business partners. But here she is, always snooping around and getting into trouble. I'm supposed to be providing security, but I can't stop thinking about her.

She's up to something, and it might put her in danger. She sees me as the enemy now. Maybe I am, but I'm not going to lose her again. I might be hired to protect the man she's working against, but my heart only wants to protect her.

Protecting the Enemy was originally published as Honor Bound. It has since been expanded, revised, and re-edited.

I liked this one and felt it was a good sequal to the first. Some overlap in the story from the first one (scorned past love) but enough new that it was ok. Hoping the third is a new plot.

Another awesome story written by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams as they penned Protecting the Enemy, the second book in their Protector’s Series. These two ladies are definitely a dynamic duo in the author world. This is a second chance story between Sebastian and Ali. When he was nineteen Sebastian listened to his father and gave up the girl he loved. Fast forward twelve years and Sebastian is a body guard for Ali’s event planner friend. Ali is there to uncover information of Sebastian’s father, the man who ruined not only their relationship but also her family. Sometimes attraction and chemistry does not die with time and separation. Protecting the Enemy is a great story with plenty of drama and danger. This is a story about redemption and second chances. I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting it down. I recommend this book to other readers. It makes for a wonderful, light easy read. Although this book is part of a series it is a standalone story.

Finding Love Again! This is the second book in The Protectors Series. This is Sebastian Maxwell and Ali Cooper's story. This is a combination of enemies to lovers and second chance romance, so if those are the type of genres you like this story is for you. Sebastian and his ex-marine friends have started a security business since they have returned home. While he is providing security, for a family friend, he stumbles onto Ali snooping around on the property. It has been 12 years since he has seen her and broke her heart. But he has never forgotten her and regrets, that he let his father force him to stop seeing her. As they become friends once more, Sebastian knows that this time he cannot let her get away. But Ali is on a mission, she needs to get information to help her father and her family. Sebastian's father fired her father as well as other employees and then took their pensions away. Ali has to get evidence to prove they lied, about their financial situation. With her job as assistant to a party planner, she finally has access to the CEO'S property. Ali's family is dependent on her income to survive. Could this finally be the break she needs to get revenge for her father? Will Sebastian help the love of his life, destroy his family? Will this be the end to their newly found love again? Or is Ali just using her friendship with Sebastian, so he will look the other way? You will have to read to find out. Received a ARC from the author and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

3.75 stars--PROTECTING THE ENEMY is the second installment in the contemporary, adult THE PROTECTOR romance series co-written by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams. This is former Marine and security specialist Sebastian Maxwell, and assistant events planner Ali Cooper’s story line. PROTECTING THE ENEMY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous installment is revealed where necessary. NOTE: PROTECTING THE ENEMY is the re-release of the previously titled, 2014 release Honor Bound. Told from dual first person perspectives (Ali and Sebastian) PROTECTING THE ENEMY is a second chance story line between former Marine and security specialist Sebastian Maxwell, and assistant events planner Ali Cooper. Twelve years earlier Sebastian and Ali were high school sweethearts, in love and planning for the future, but Sebastian came from money and Ali was not considered worthy of the Maxwell name. Dumping Ali days before heading to college found Sebastian losing the only woman he would ever love, a woman’s whose own life spiraled out of control a year later. Fast forward to present day where Sebastian will come face to face with his past-Ali Cooper-working the prestigious fund raiser for the well to do and influential. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Ali and Sebastian, and the fall out when the reasons for Ali’s presence is finally revealed. The relationship between Ali and Sebastian is one of second chances- a rekindling romance between two people whose love and friendship was destroyed by greed, power and bigotry against the lower classes. Sebastian’s return to civilian life comes with the guilt of loss and his past but none more so than his treatment of the woman he left behind. The $ex scenes are intimate, fade to black and mostly implied. We are introduced to Sebastian’s friends and business partners-Declan, Levi and Cole, as well as Sebastian’s father John Maxwell, and his business partner Ken Gentry; Ali’s fifteen year old sister Rosie, and eighteen year old brother Tyler, and their long suffering father Greg Cooper. PROTECTING THE ENEMY is a quick read; a sweet and sexy story about friendship, love and the power of money, corporate greed and the potential fall out when the truth is revealed. The premise is energetic; the romance is passionate; the characters are spirited and real. PROTECTING THE ENEMY is an enjoyable story line.

Favorite Quote: This was like coming home to that one place that meant the most to you— that one place where you knew that you were accepted for who and what you were and loved for it. My Review: I adored this couple and second chance romance storyline. Ali and Sebastian had fallen in love as teenagers but were forced apart by Sebastian’s monstrous father. During the final pages of the first book in the series, Sebastian and three other returning wounded veterans, who had bonded during boot camp, found they were struggling with the transition back into civilian life. The four friends went into business together, established a security company, and were working hard to get their fledgling company off the ground. Asking Sebastian’s wealthy father for a start on potential contacts proved to be a misstep as when Sebastian refused to bend to his will, his vile father’s deplorable business tactics were engaged against him with a blackmail threat against his new company. The storyline was engaging, entertaining, relevant, occasionally amusing, and oh so steamy. I really liked the chemistry and banter between these clever and endearing characters and am looking forward to getting a closer look at the other two members.

I could not put this book down. A second chance of love. Seb, listened to his dad twelve years ago and gave up the woman he loved, Ali. Even though they were only nineteen. Fast forward, and Seb is back as a bodyguard for a friend that Ali is an event planner for, but Ali is there to find information on Seb's father, the man that ruined their relationship and her family. They soon find their love is just as fierce as before but will family keep them apart once again. Loved this story of second chance romance and not giving up. Loved the revised version of this story. The second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. Love this dynamic writing duo od Samantha and Noelle.

A quick sexy read! I really enjoyed getting to know Sebastian and Ali. Their story is a entrancing second chance romance with a little underling suspense. The situation that both Sebastian and Ali found themselves in years before broke my heart. I was so glad they got their justice finally! Can't wait for more of this series!

3 1/2 STARS! Former high school sweethearts reunited! There's a hint of danger, a sweet reunion, and pulling of heartstrings here and there. I had a good bit of trouble connecting with this couple in the beginning, but once they got through some of their issues, they became a little more open and easier to get a feel for. Sebastian Maxwell has never forgotten his first and only love. Family pressure forced him to leave her behind, but she's never been far from his mind over the years. Now he's back home after years in the military and trying to pick up the pieces of his life. He can't believe it when he sees Ali working with an event planner at one of his father's crony's houses. He's in charge of the security around the place and keeps catching her snooping around in parts of the house where she doesn't even belong ... what's going on here? Ali Cooper hasn't had it easy since Seb dumped her. The plans for life that she always dreamed of never managed to happen, and she's doing everything she can just to stay afloat day in and day out. When opportunity arises to possibly right a wrong, will Sebastian be willing to help her even the stakes are high for him, or will she be on her own yet again?

I LOVED this! This story pushed all my emotional buttons. A fantastic story of letting go of someone you deeply love so they can have the best life. When a second chance at happiness comes around you give it your all. That's what Sebastian Maxwell does and he's determined to have Ali in his life again. Years ago Sebastian made a decision that affected their lives forever. Ali had no idea why she decided to leave her and her heart was broken. Now with Sebastian back in her life she's determined to protect her heart while using him to get information and at the same time getting revenge against the people who hurt his father and destroyed her family's life. This is one for everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it.

The one that got away has become the woman he can't live without. Sebastian and Ali have history. Complicated, heartbreaking, bitter history. Ali is determined not to repeat it. Seb is determined to make it right. Now he's caught up in a web of secrets, that is spiraling out of control and at the center lies his greatest regret. Ali is a fighter. Disappointments and betrayals have made her the woman she is. Independent, fearless and untrusting. When a past she'd rather forget invades her present, her world will never be the same. Protecting the Enemy is a story of redemption that thrives on an abundance of twists along the way. Drama and danger collide when the past meets the present. A hint of danger packs a ton of heat.
