The stones of Puma Punku are massive—some weighing up to 440 tons, quarried from mountains ten miles away. The precision of their cuts is astonishing: laser-straight edges, perfect right angles, and interlocking joints so tight that a razor blade cannot slip between them. To shape and move these stones would be a challenge even for modern builders, yet Puma Punku was constructed over 17,000 years ago, long before the advent of metal tools or the wheel in the region.
